Whilst staying at The Royal at Heysham I wanted to see if their food was up to scratch at both their dinner and breakfast service.

The hotel has won a plethora of local awards as well as being nominated for a Lancashire Tourism Award in recent years.

Its warm and cosy atmosphere as well as its stunning location overlooking Morecambe beach had already impressed me and made for a wonderful stay.

However during my time at The Royal, I was interested to see if their much lived up to the rest of the hotel.

00:00Hi, my name's Sam, Digital Report for the Lancashire Post, and I'm currently staying
00:12at the Royal Adhesion Hotel, which is an award-winning hotel in Lancashire. So come with me as I
00:19go to try food from both their dinner service and their breakfast service, and I'll give
00:25you an overall rating. Charming in design, the restaurant offered a perfect backdrop
00:31for a delightful culinary experience, and the atmosphere and vibe I got was really warm
00:37and homely, and really went with the rest of the pub. Each menu has been specially crafted
00:42by their team of expert chefs, meaning I was able to indulge in locally-sourced dishes.
00:49And the menu itself was really high quality, but not just the main menu, but their specials
00:54menu, which was taking my fancy, as well as your classic drinks menu, which came with
01:00ales that they brew themselves, as well as wines and cocktails. Now for starters, I decided
01:06to go with the Feta and Spring Onion Arancini, which came with sun-dried tomatoes and a pickled
01:13vegetable salad. Now, I'd have to say, this was probably the best arancini I've tried
01:19in my life. The outside was nice and crispy, cooked to perfection, yet the inside, the
01:25rice and the feta and spring onion wasn't too overcooked, it kept that creamy consistency,
01:31and paired with the rest of the pickled vegetable salad, as well as the sun-dried tomatoes,
01:36made for a really nice, light starter, and got me excited for the rest of the meal. Now
01:42on to the main course, and I decided to go off the special menu, and went for a pan-fried
01:48salmon, which came with greens, potatoes, and a blackened Cajun sauce. Now, the salmon
01:54was the star of the show here, cooked to perfection with a crispy skin, I really enjoyed it, and
01:59it really went with that blackened Cajun sauce, delightfully. Also, the potatoes were crispy
02:05on the outside, fluffy on the inside, just what you want from a potato. I'd have to give
02:11this a solid 9 out of 10. After dinner service, I was left feeling highly satisfied, so it
02:17was back to my room, and I was excited for what the Royal Adhesion had to offer for breakfast.
02:25Now breakfast service featured a lot of things that you'd expect from a hotel breakfast,
02:29but kept that high quality that was seen at dinner service. It featured your typical things
02:34from a cooked breakfast standpoint, so your full grill and stuff like that, but also had
02:39things from your breakfast table, so a selection of cereals and yoghurt pots. But to start
02:44off, I had to just go for a nice cup of tea, as well as a fresh orange juice. These two
02:50drinks were a staple of any breakfast order for me, and whilst it's just a cup of tea
02:55and I can't comment too much on it, it got me excited for what I'd ordered for breakfast,
03:00which was smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on an English muffin, as well as some greens
03:06on the side. When my breakfast came, I was glad to see there was some form of presentation,
03:11rather than all ingredients being thrown messily on a muffin. And yeah, this tasted
03:20really nice, the salmon paired with that egg makes for a great combination. And I was also
03:26given the option to either put it on toast or a muffin, but I just thought both components
03:32of the meal worked better on a muffin. And yeah, it was an enjoyable breakfast, as you
03:37can see, I've clearly polished it off, and overall the food at the Royal Haitian was great.
