Today's Sussex World Daily bulletin: April 26 2024
Transcript
00:00 Hello again, Conor Gormley here, trainee reporter for Sussex World and this is our daily news
00:04 bulletin where I run you through all of our biggest stories from across both East and
00:09 West Sussex today. A company based in Crawley has been named the second fastest growing
00:14 in the UK in this year's growth index which tracks all the fastest growing companies in
00:19 the country. Balth's Bikes, a specialist cycling, retail and maintenance company emerged
00:24 as second best in one of the toughest and best represented sectors in the whole index
00:28 which is of course great news for a thriving local business. A hidden sinkhole in Hastings
00:35 town centre meanwhile has created a hazard for motorists in South Terrace. The sinkhole
00:40 is right in the middle of a busy town centre road at the foot of a steep hill and could
00:45 prove lethal to road users a motorist has warned. The sinkhole has been reported to
00:49 East Sussex County Council highways and logged for action so here's hoping something is
00:54 done about it quite soon. A man from East Sussex has been jailed for possession of illegal
00:59 firearms and bullets which he bought from Spain according to the National Crime Agency.
01:03 Dennis Early, 48, was sent to prison yesterday following an earlier court hearing having
01:08 been arrested in 2022 after NCA officers carried out a pre-dawn strike on Early's home in
01:13 Westfield near Hastings. During the raid officers uncovered a converted pistol, seven blank
01:20 firing firearms and six unfired bullets from Early's hallway, living room and a workshop
01:25 in his back garden an NCA spokesperson said. Early has now been sentenced to two years
01:30 and ten months in prison reduced from three years and four months in light of his pleading
01:35 guilty during the process. That's all from me today but for more news, photos and interviews
