00:00 their university. They're
00:01 here to stay. They're here to
00:01 stay. They're here to stay.
00:02 They're here to stay. They're
00:02 here to stay. They're here to
00:03 stay. They're here to stay.
00:04 They've made it very clear that
00:07 they are here to stay. In
00:09 Palestine and, um, you know, we
00:11 likewise are here, you know to
00:12 stay. We're not going anywhere
00:14 until the UC divest. Protests
00:16 are growing on Bay Area
00:16 University campuses over the
00:20 war in Gaza. 11 o'clock news
00:24 on KTVU Fox two starts now.
00:25 Students at UC Berkeley and
00:27 Stanford are among the
00:28 protesters. They're here to
00:30 stay. They're here to stay.
00:32 They're here to stay. They're
00:33 here to stay. This is real.
00:34 Hello again. I'm Greg Lee, and
00:36 I'm Christina Rendon. Students
00:37 at Berkeley have been sleeping
00:38 intense all week to draw
00:39 attention to the war in the
00:41 Middle East. KTVU is Joey
00:42 Horta was on campus today and
00:42 has a look at the growing
00:45 encampment. As the final day of
00:50 classes at UC Berkeley come to
00:52 a close on Friday, pro
00:54 Palestinian protesters are
00:56 showing no signs of backing
00:58 down. We're going to keep
00:59 fighting. We're going to keep
01:01 fighting. We're going to keep
01:02 fighting as hard as we can.
01:04 While demonstrations have
01:05 turned violent at college
01:07 campuses around the country
01:09 this week here at Cal, the UC
01:11 Berkeley Divest Coalition has
01:14 led a peaceful protest.
01:15 Students are taking turns
01:17 camping out, and they've grown
01:19 from about a dozen tents on
01:21 Monday to more than 70 by
01:23 Friday. We have three kind of
01:25 sleeping pads here. Undergrad
01:26 Cecilia Luna Parra shows us
01:27 how the protestors are
01:29 organizing. The protestors
01:31 are protesting against the
01:32 ban that was enacted to Berkeley
01:33 City Council last week. Our
01:36 tuition dollars are currently.
01:38 Going to corporations that are
01:40 aiding this genocide.
01:42 Protesters are calling for the
01:44 U. C to divest from those
01:46 companies to end its silence on
01:48 Gaza to cut ties with Israeli
01:50 universities and to protect
01:50 students organizing in support
01:54 of Palestine. Supporters are
01:56 calling for the U. C to end its
01:58 silence on Gaza, and they're
01:59 calling for the U. C to end its
02:01 silence on Gaza, bearing the
02:03 colors of the Palestinian flag.
02:04 It's kind of a way that I
02:05 aggrieve. No way that I can
02:09 really just show. My
02:11 solidarity. Others are old
02:12 enough to remember Berkeley's
02:14 historic role as the home of
02:16 the free speech movement. I
02:18 remember the hell. No, we won't
02:20 go during the end of the
02:22 Vietnam War. Sometimes you have
02:23 to throw enough logs on the
02:25 ground to get the word out.
02:27 But the U. C. Is not going to
02:29 back down. The university
02:32 agrees to divest. Spokesman
02:33 for the university says they
