00:00 From hilariously quick squashes killing off any potential as an in-ring force to be reckoned
00:05 with, to over-the-hill veterans hammering the nail in promising sensations coffins,
00:10 these wrestlers all had their momentum substantially derailed in next to no time at all.
00:16 Gareth here from WhatCulture Wrestling and here are 10 wrestlers who became losers in
00:19 one second.
00:21 10.
00:22 Zack Ryder
00:23 WWE Raw, February 13th, 2012
00:25 A once career-making dream spell, while signed to Vince McMahon's massive organisation,
00:30 quickly devolved into nightmare territory for the Long Island Ice Z.
00:34 Dumped into a romantic anger with Eve Torres on the back of a crowd-popping US Championship
00:38 victory, Zack Ryder would then be repeatedly battered by a remasked Kane, en route to a
00:43 now infamous spell whilst locked into a wheelchair.
00:46 This would all lead to one of the most humiliating beats to be unleashed upon a fan favourite
00:50 in quite some time, as apparent pal John Cena locked lips with Eve upon saving her from
00:55 the Big Red Machine's Big Red Machine, or in other words, an ambulance.
00:59 Sure enough, as the camera panned to the right, there was a helpless Ryder, chocolates and
01:03 roses in lap for Valentine's Day no less, with Vinny Mac no doubt howling in gorilla
01:07 as the embarrassing angle all but sentenced the once-over sensation to permanent mid-card
01:12 purgatory.
01:14 While the subsequent wheeling off the stage at the hands of Kane and smacking in the balls
01:17 at the boot of Eve at WrestleMania 28, both sit as further nails in Ryder's respectable
01:21 single star coffin, it all started with a kiss.
01:25 9.
01:26 Brian Cage – AEW Rampage, October 8th, 2021
01:30 Entering All Elite territory as the eye-catching surprise entrant in Double or Nothing's
01:34 2020's Casino Ladder Match, and winning the whole damn thing at that, former Impact
01:39 World Champion Brian Cage looked set to become the Wrecking Machine monster that AEW had
01:43 been looking for.
01:44 And while an unsuccessful attempt to dethrone AEW World Champion Jon Moxley didn't immediately
01:49 catapult him to superstardom, his crowning as the first-ever All Elite FTW Champion and
01:54 positioning as Team Taz's focal point suggested big things for Swolverine.
01:58 As the months would trickle by, however, it became more and more evident that Tony Khan
02:02 had next to no plans of pushing Cage past the level of credible challenger to the various
02:07 real All Elite champions on his roster.
02:10 In the end, post numerous unsuccessful title challenges and a battering at the hands of
02:14 an icon, an FTW title-losing effort against Ricky Starks set the stage for a fatal blow
02:19 to his All Elite standing.
02:21 Out-thought, out-muscled and out-matched by Team Taz in the Rampage rematch for said strap,
02:26 Cage is still yet to resurface on All Elite programming and seemingly has had to settle
02:30 for a spot on Khan's new Ring of Honor side project going forward.
02:34 8.
02:35 Diamond Dallas Page – WWE Raw, August 20th, 2001
02:39 Sitting as one of WCW's most adored and respected babyface forces throughout his cherished
02:43 run as that promotion's People's Champion, it's not exactly difficult to understand
02:47 why fans were eagerly awaiting a Diamond Dallas intervention upon WWE's acquisition of their
02:52 competition and a number of one-time WCW World Champion services back in 2001.
02:57 And while going toe-to-toe with The Undertaker isn't to be sniffed out when it comes to
03:01 debut feuds with Invinimate Walls, the nature of DDP's arrival and subsequent booking
03:06 of his odd stalker character did the charismatic presence little favours in the long run.
03:11 A white-hot response to said reveal of Page being the man behind the stalker mask may
03:16 have acted as one of the invasion's strongest beats.
03:19 But the former WCW man was made to look like an utter tit throughout his painful program
03:23 with the Deadman, cementing his spot as yet another resident loser from the other side
03:27 by eating a loss from Taker's then-wife Sarah on the 20th August edition of Raw is
03:32 War, thanks to some phenom interference at ringside.
03:36 7.
03:37 Finn Balor – WWE Raw, October 23rd, 2017 Finn Balor's main roster run hit its climax
03:43 at a remarkable rate, with the former Prince Devitt becoming the first-ever Universal Champion
03:47 within his first month as part of Monday Night.
03:49 Yeah, that's about as good as things were ever destined to get for the two-time NXT
03:54 champion, as a long-awaited return from the injury that stripped him of said Red World
03:57 title would set the Irish Sensation down a rather depressing path.
04:02 Despite returning to a sizeable reception on the Raw after Mania 33, the former Bullet
04:06 Club leader would have his title ambitions squeezed out of reach by Samoa Joe at Extreme
04:10 Rules and was ultimately shuffled into the midcard shortly after.
04:14 And while hopes of Balor once again regaining his spot at the top of the mountain were bolstered
04:18 by an impressive performance in an AJ Styles dream match at TLC 2017, the sometimes Demon
04:24 King squashing after Kane's three emphatic chokeslams on the next night's edition of
04:28 Raw spoke more than words ever could on Vince McMahon's perception of the former New Japan
04:33 Pro Wrestling D'Arlin.
04:34 Even five years on, he's still not looking very good, is he?
04:37 6.
04:38 Melina, WWE Royal Rumble, January 30th, 2022
04:41 The sight of Melina finally returning to the promotion at this year's Royal Rumble brought
04:45 with it a reception worthy of a re-emerging hero, destined to make a sizeable impact on
04:50 the titular bout.
04:52 Unfortunately, that would not turn out to be the case at all, with the star also known
04:55 for her work in the NWA and Impact Wrestling being given less than a minute of the spotlight
05:00 in the 30-woman over-the-top rope spectacular.
05:03 In extra no time at all, the former MNM figure was dumped out by number one entrant Sasha
05:08 Banks, and Melina herself would even note how she assumed she'd be given more chance
05:12 to shine after so much time away from the WWE machine, replying with a comment of "same
05:17 here" when asked why she didn't play a bigger role in the match on Instagram.
05:20 Whatever way you slice it, WWE made a five-time women's champion go from crowd-popping returning
05:25 veteran to inferior returnee in the eyes of those inside the dome with just one pitifully
05:30 tame elimination.
05:32 5.
05:33 The Fiend – WWE Super Showdown, February 27th, 2020
05:37 It still feels like the events of Super Showdown 2020's show-closing bout were little more
05:41 than a Saudi fever dream, doesn't it?
05:43 Or at least that's what Bray Wyatt wishes he was experiencing on the night of February
05:47 27th.
05:48 But alas, his emphatic beating at the hands of the superhero children around the world
05:51 most definitely deserved, Bill Goldberg, was very much a legitimate moment that still makes
05:57 for a compellingly bizarre re-watch to this day.
06:00 After conquering the likes of Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan and The Miz over the course of
06:03 a Universal Championship run and period that had seen WWE very much place all of their
06:08 demented eggs in Wyatt's fiendish basket, Duman's attempts to protect his grizzled
06:13 old Superman character would see all that inconsistent work be undone in a matter of
06:18 moments.
06:19 Despite The Fiend employing his usual no-selling of your best shot on the back of numerous
06:23 spears, a painful struggle of a jackhammer was ultimately enough to murder what remained
06:27 of Wyatt's mystique.
06:28 4.
06:29 Alexa Bliss & The Razor - WWE Raw June 7th, 2021
06:33 However if the relentless billionaire playground that is WWE has taught us one thing over the
06:37 years, it's that even an idea or concept completely massacred in one swift squash can
06:42 be recycled and ran even further into the ground before your very eyes.
06:47 Case in point, I give you the fiendish powers of one Alexa Bliss, resulting in everything
06:51 the former Raw and Smackdown Women's Champion touching with her pain and play gloves being
06:55 almost irreparably damaged.
06:57 Hot on the heels of former No-Nonsense NXT Women's Champion and one-time legit MMA
07:01 fighter Shayna Baszler invading Alexa's playground, and being made to look like an
07:05 utter goof by engaging in Bliss' doll-infused nonsense in early June 2021, typically mind-numbing
07:11 dialogue was inevitably followed by more Thunderdome supernatural stupidity.
07:16 Cue backstage lights are flickering, doors mysteriously are locking, and the Queen of
07:20 Spades are panicking, as the one-time most dominant force the black and gold brand's
07:24 women's division had ever seen was made to crap her pants at a disappearing doll to
07:28 the point of smashing a mirror to pieces.
07:30 Looks like she only has herself to blame for the subsequent seven years of dreadful booking
07:34 heading her way then.
07:35 3.
07:36 Bob Backlund - WWF MSG November 26th, 1994
07:41 Bob Backlund went from the star who somehow got the better of the best there is, the best
07:44 there was, and the best there ever will be, to feeling like anything but God some three
07:49 days later.
07:50 Clearly being used as little more than a transitional champ to keep Bret Hart from having to join
07:54 the job out to an incoming diesel, Backlund was thoroughly and swiftly dispatched at a
07:58 house show inside of Madison Square Garden on November 26th, 1994.
08:03 Just like that, a rain that looked to be paving the way for an unexpected final run in the
08:07 main event's sun was jackknifed powerbombed to smithereens in just eight seconds, as the
08:12 paying public would so kindly remind Backlund over the coming weeks.
08:16 To make matters worse, Bruce Prichard would later note on his Something to Wrestle With
08:20 podcast that the former champ was fuming with the execution of Kevin Nash's finisher,
08:24 with Backlund smashing his tailbone rather hard upon taking Diesel's powerbomb.
08:28 It seems this iconic loser could not catch a break on that famous night in the garden.
08:33 2.
08:34 Karrion Kross WV Raw July 19th, 2021
08:37 Amassing an impressive 14-month-long undefeated run, admittedly one marred by injury part
08:42 way through, whilst occupying the black and gold landscape, Karrion Kross very much felt
08:47 like a Triple H pet project with the main roster very much in mind.
08:50 Combining supernatural theatrics with a highly physical and dominant in-ring style, Kross'
08:55 two stints whilst holding NXT's top title seem to all but confirm his destiny to become
08:59 a feature player for the game's father-in-law.
09:01 Yeah, just as WV finally welcomed back a live crowd desperate to be entertained, said potential
09:07 to contend at the top of the Raw or SmackDown card was stunningly rolled up in about two
09:11 minutes flat.
09:13 Said unexpected Jeff Hardy victory, making a mockery of Kross' awe-conquering displays
09:17 up until this point, only added to the already crumbling presence of the one-time NXT champion.
09:22 Gone was his atmospheric entrance, engaging manager, and now his in-ring credibility.
09:27 In their place was a stunned-face visual that quickly undid a year or so of consistent pushing,
09:32 and laughing in the face of the pummeling of many a developmental darling.
09:36 1.
09:37 Dan Howzen AEW Dynamite May 11th, 2022
09:41 Occupying the AEW atmosphere time and time again since making his high-profile signing
09:45 for the company official in January, fans had been eagerly awaiting The Eccentric Cursor's
09:50 in-ring debut for months, coming into his first-ever singles contest on the May 11th
09:54 edition of Dynamite.
09:56 Yet, those expecting to see the sort of entertaining Dan Howzen display witnessed in the likes
10:00 of Ring of Honor and Full Impact Pro were in for a mighty surprise on said Wednesday
10:04 night.
10:05 Utterly pulverised by Tony Nese in a matter of seconds, one running knee in the corner
10:09 was all it took to best the goofball.
10:12 How this turn of events and the beatdown that would follow were obviously designed
10:15 to make the birth of Hook Howzen that little more satisfying on the night, and Dan Howzen's
10:20 lack of offence may also be a sign of his once-seriously broken leg still not being
10:24 100%.
10:25 However, there's no denying that the sea of Dan Howzen supporters out there would
10:28 have no doubt been entirely deflated by their face-painted boy's weak display on night
10:33 one, and it's also hard to look past Hook now being positioned as the one to routinely
10:37 bail out his newfound, and seemingly useless, odd partner in the coming months.
10:42 Very nice, very evil, but also very much framed as a loser out
11:02 there.
