00:00 Dianne Hill, cornerback from Marshall.
00:03 Welcome to the U.
00:05 Six foot tall, 172 pounds.
00:07 He played 672 snaps last season at Marshall.
00:11 He started the season last year as a backup
00:15 in a rotational role, but this is someone who's,
00:17 who was on an upward trajectory with the Thundering Herd.
00:20 So he started the season as a rotational guy,
00:22 but then by game four, he was a starting cornerback there.
00:26 Ended up starting nine games last season for Marshall.
00:30 He was targeted 61 times.
00:32 He allowed 34 receptions for 517 yards,
00:35 three touchdowns given up.
00:36 He had a pretty good coverage grade
00:38 at 70.9 overall last season.
00:42 Probably the best game that he played,
00:44 even though this is not a team
00:46 that's on Miami's schedule this year,
00:47 but it is an ACC opponent.
00:49 He played well against NC State last year.
00:52 Probably his best game.
00:53 Had an interception, a pass breakup,
00:55 I think seven tackles in that game.
00:56 78.7 coverage grade,
00:58 which was above his average on the season.
01:01 In an area where Dayani Hill does excel
01:05 is with his tackling.
01:06 He's very strong in that department.
01:08 He's got an 84.1 tackling grade.
01:11 According to Pro Football Focus,
01:12 his run defense grade is 84.6.
01:15 So this is, again, I gotta watch how these guys look
01:19 in fall camp when practices start up again.
01:22 I don't look at Dayani Hill
01:24 and definitely say this guy's for sure starting.
01:27 I could see him as an experienced rotational guy,
01:31 which is important, folks.
01:32 I mean, listen, some of the players Miami has added
01:34 going back to the last transfer portal,
01:36 Cam freaking Ward, starting quarterback, right?
01:39 Last night, Miami adds Damian Martinez.
01:41 That's your starting running back.
01:42 So some of these guys that Miami is adding
01:44 are gonna be surefire starters,
01:46 but it's also Mario Cristobal wants to have
01:49 as much experience as possible mixed in with the young guys.
01:53 Like, it's not to say,
01:54 "Oh, forget about the young guys," whatever.
01:56 Like, Miami's got a lot of talented true freshmen
01:58 that Mario recruited, Class of 2024,
02:01 and a lot of really talented, of course,
02:04 players heading into their second year
02:05 from the Class of 2023
02:07 who are gonna start in certain spots.
02:09 You know, Ruben Bain, you expect him to start.
02:11 CeCe Maui-Noah is gonna be a starter, again,
02:15 you know, on the offensive line.
02:16 Other guys are gonna get a lot more playing time this year
02:19 than they did last year.
02:20 But in terms of, you know, trying to go all in
02:23 with Cam Ward and trying to maximize that one season
02:26 you have with the quarterback
02:27 that the coaches feel really, really good about,
02:30 they want to add as many veterans
02:31 to the rotation as possible.
02:32 Guys who have, you know, a year or two of eligibility left
02:35 and have multiple starts under their belt.
02:37 And I think Dayani Hill fits that bill again.
02:40 So I think he's someone
02:41 who's gonna be competing for snaps.
02:44 Well, you guys know Darryl Porter Jr.
02:46 I pencil him in.
02:47 Well, I permanent marker him in as a starter.
02:49 He's gonna be one of Miami's starting cornerbacks.
02:51 And I think a guy like Dayani Hill
02:53 is gonna be competing for snaps
02:55 with the likes of Damari Brown.
02:57 I could see Damari Brown also being a starter,
03:00 but Hill can compete with players like Damari Brown,
03:03 Jadis Richard, actually Jadis Richard might be a starter.
03:05 He had a really good spring, either him or Damari Brown.
03:09 Robert Stafford is gonna be another guy
03:11 competing for snaps with Dayani Hill.
03:13 And it's also, again, you talk, folks,
03:15 about the relationships and the history
03:18 playing under current Miami coaches.
03:20 I do think when you're adding guys in the transfer portal,
03:22 it's nice to know that you've got position coaches
03:25 where you know, "This guy can play for me.
03:27 This guy can play in my system."
03:28 Right? Lance Guidry and Travis Jackson
03:30 both know that about Hill.
03:32 D. Nick knows that about Jalen Alderman.
03:35 So that's the luxury of adding players like that.
