00:00 The Philippines will send a ship to block the Chinese vessel that was spotted in Catanduanes.

00:07 The Philippine Air Force also has a radar system that detects airplanes and ships entering our Exclusive Economic Zone.

00:15 And Jun Veneration was able to spot it.

00:17 This was caught on the Chinese flag research vessel, the Shenku,

00:24 when it was spotted in the sea near Catanduanes.

00:27 It was first spotted on April 25 in the east of Rapu-Rapu Island, Albay,

00:32 even though it was already in the northeast of Gamay Northern Samar this morning.

00:37 It kept changing its position and did not respond to the AFP's radio challenge.

00:42 Our next step is to send a ship to intercept and find out what the ship is doing within our Exclusive Economic Zone.

00:54 What's clear for now is that it was spotted in the east of the Philippines,

00:58 which is clearly further away from China, and not in the West Philippine Sea,

01:02 where China is occupying territories that are part of our Exclusive Economic Zone or EEZ.

01:09 In the middle of such an entry of foreign vessels,

01:12 the turnover of new equipment is temporary,

01:15 like the Philippine Air Force's first mobile surveillance radar system.

01:20 The TPS-P14ME is part of the Philippine defense contract worth Php 5.5 billion in Japan.

01:28 It adds scope of domain awareness, particularly in the aerial domain.

01:36 It adds eyes.

01:41 In times of need, the radar system can be sent to various parts of the country.

01:47 In the face of increasing tensions in the West Philippine Sea,

01:50 the Philippine Air Force's mobile surveillance radar system can be deployed there.

01:56 It can detect airplanes and ships entering the country.

02:01 Well, it's possible that we can also deploy it in areas of the West Philippine Sea,

02:08 given that we have a platform that can accommodate its size and its weight.

02:13 It will play a significant role in bolstering the Philippine Air Force's capabilities

02:18 in maintaining situational awareness in our airspace,

02:22 ensuring that we maintain a watchful eye on the horizon for potential threats.
