Petworth Festival has confirmed the line-ups for its June edition and its main festival this July, promising “a world class arts festival in the South Downs.”

00:06 to speak to Stuart Collins, Artistic Director of the Petworth Festival, even if it does
00:11 seem to come around increasingly quickly. Now, you've got a great year this year, haven't
00:16 you? You've got the new format, which is the Summer Edition over a weekend at the end of
00:20 May, and then the Main Festival. Now, you're saying, well, that Summer Edition is about
00:26 tantalising, isn't it? About building up some excitement for the Main Festival.
00:30 That's right, yes. One of the things that we discovered when we did a special event
00:37 for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee a couple of years back was that suddenly we realised
00:43 that there was an opportunity to do a special taster in advance of the festival. So we now
00:48 build what's formally known as the June Edition as a taste of the Petworth Festival. And over
00:55 the weekend at the beginning of June, this year it's actually 31st of May and 1st of
00:59 June, we run three events, one of which is a jazz flavoured event, one of which is a
01:05 classical flavoured event, and one which is a crossover flavoured event, just to sort
01:10 of get people in the mood, to remind them, in fact, of people who've been very, very
01:16 successful at previous festivals. And then, of course, it's as a curtain raiser for the
01:21 Summer Festival, which happens about six weeks later. So, yeah, we happen twice this summer,
01:27 but as I say, it's something that we've discovered worked, our audience seems to like, and so
01:33 if that's the case, we run with it.
01:34 Fantastic. And it builds a bit of momentum and then you come back a few weeks later.
