Cycling - La Vuelta Femenina 2024 - Alison Jackson stage 2, interview and highlights

04:39 I came in with a real fire to win this.
04:45 Even starting with the rain, you take a mentality that it can either be real good or you have to be a bit careful.
04:53 I was just in the right position at the right time with teammates to take care of me right from the beginning to the finish.
05:01 And then just make the right decisions. Basically, crashes were happening and I kept being safe, playing it smart.
05:08 And then in the final, it was all due to my teammates in every moment, just making up the distance lost.
05:15 And then in the final, the group kind of caught the four of us that made it through the crashes first.
05:24 My teammate, Krista, was there. She went at 500 full gas and she is so strong. I knew that no one would be able to come around.
05:31 I got to choose my spring when I wanted it to happen. And yeah, I just felt unbelievably calm with the win.
05:38 How much does it mean, this victory, for you and the team here at the Puerto?
05:45 I had a bit of a disappointing spring. I really wanted to have a key race going into Roubaix again.
05:54 But you can only control what you can control. The team has been really just coming together more and more as the season goes.
06:02 Coming into the Vuelta, I just had a lot of fire. I was going to do anything it took to do my best to get this win.
06:12 The team super believed in me, from staff to riders, and I totally took that to heart.
06:19 So yeah, to have a win in this season, in Vuelta a España, it's just another great thing to put on the resume.
06:30 Well, congratulations to our rider, at the end of the competition, with that arrival that she just gave us, Alison Jackson!
06:38 Winner of the stage, Special Transalp prize. Thanks to Christian Peinado, director of the Transalp group in Valencia.
