00:00 Because of the dangerous heat we are experiencing,
00:03 a group has called for the government to declare a national climate emergency.
00:08 According to the Center for Energy, Ecology and Development,
00:11 it is important that the government has sufficient funds and allocation
00:15 for action on climate change.
00:17 According to the experts, we are experiencing the worst El Nino
00:21 and it is possible that it will get hotter in the next few months.
00:29 Historically, we have seen hot temperatures during strong El Nino episodes
00:36 and then the temperatures are still breaching or exceeding the strong El Nino episodes.
00:44 We are calling for the declaration of a national climate emergency.
00:48 It is also important that there is a corresponding fund and allocation
00:53 because the aid alone will not cover this.
00:58 To avoid water service interruption,
01:01 the Department of Environment and Natural Resources
01:04 has called for the use of water.
01:06 The Department of Health does not recommend
01:09 taking a bath on a daily basis to avoid affecting the water supply.
01:14 Instead, they recommend using wet cotton or spray bottles
01:17 as a freshener for the face and body.
01:20 If I were to recommend taking a shower three times a day during the heat,
01:27 the water will be drained and we will be in drought.
01:30 We will not have food.
01:32 So, my recommendation is to also conserve water.
01:36 This is a practice because based on projections,
01:41 we still have at least two months of drought conditions
01:45 that we need to overcome, this May and June.
01:49 So, even if we have sufficient water, we will practice conservation.
