00:06 we will have the Deputy Secretary of Labor and Employment,

00:09 Attorney Benjo Santos Benavides.

00:16 Alright, Usec, let's start with the mandatory heat safety protocols

00:20 for workers who are being promoted as mandatory.

00:23 What is the purpose of this?

00:25 Well, we have mandatory occupational safety and health standards

00:29 that we are being enforced under our existing department order

00:33 and our law, Republic Act 11058,

00:37 it is stated there what needs to be done in the work.

00:41 First, there will be a risk assessment.

00:44 Based on the result of the risk assessment,

00:47 we will know what are the occupational safety and health standards.

00:51 But regardless of the nature of the job, the place of the work,

00:54 we always remind, based on the law,

00:59 to wear PPE.

01:01 Second, proper hydration.

01:03 Third, proper ventilation.

01:06 Fourth, there will be breaks, especially the short breaks.

01:12 We also have what we call meal breaks.

01:14 These are the times when our workers can rest

01:18 in their work to avoid or to avoid the heat.

01:24 So the short breaks are different from the meal breaks.

02:06 Well, it depends on the needs of the company

02:09 if we can really ensure the safety of the workers

02:14 or if we can maintain or improve the productivity of the company,

02:20 then why not.

02:22 Tomorrow is Labor Day.

02:26 Can we expect a wage hike for our workers or have they already received it?

02:31 Well, you know, last year, RTWPBs started their process

02:37 in determining the correct regional wage rate.

02:42 And it is proven that all the regional tripartite wages and productivity boards

02:46 have already issued minimum wage rates.

02:50 Yes, all regions.

02:52 The wage rates of our workers are already included in that.

02:59 So what can be expected from Region 7 workers?

03:04 We have procedures to follow in the establishment of a new minimum wage rate.

03:09 So generally, our boards have already issued the correct regional wages and productivity,

03:38 Well, we have 97 sites, job fair venues in the Philippines.

03:48 to bring the available jobs closer to those who are looking for jobs.

03:52 These are jobs in retail and manufacturing, including construction.

03:57 So we will see in the job vacancies, production workers, carpenters, laborers, sales clerks.

04:04 We also have financial and accommodation requirements.

04:12 So they are willing to participate in the job fairs.

04:19 But aside from the job fairs, we also have another program in Malacanang.

04:24 What is it?

04:25 We want to celebrate the golden anniversary of the Labor Code of the Philippines.

04:29 This was enacted in the law, or promulgated in 1974.

04:33 This year, it's the golden anniversary.

04:35 And part of the celebration is to give an award to outstanding workers of the Philippines.

04:45 In collaboration with RCM and PMAB.

04:48 We also want to present our plan to build a workers rehabilitation center complex.
