00:00 President Bongbong Marcos is passing minimum wage rates in different regions.
00:06 According to the President, the current salary of the workers should be studied if it is enough in the face of the rapid increase in the price of goods.
00:14 The President also called on the Congress to make laws that will help the workers.
00:20 As of now, there is a legislated P150 minimum wage hike that has been approved by the Senate but it is still in the chamber.
00:29 The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines believes that employers can afford to give P150.
00:37 The Employers Confederation of the Philippines or ECOP has long been planning to close small businesses because of this.
00:45 The President is aiming at the Department of Labor and Employment to train skilled workers to face underemployment.
00:56 Through this, the ability of Filipinos in their work will be strengthened.
01:00 Here or abroad, the President ordered the Department of Migrant Workers to always protect and ensure the safety of OFWs.
01:09 The President also announced that the Energy Regulatory Commission will suspend the operation of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market or WESEM
01:19 whenever there is a red alert or if the supply of transmission grid is insufficient. WESEM is a centralized venue for the purchase and sale of electricity
01:29 where the price depends on supply and demand.
01:33 The President will suspend the operation of WESEM so that the electric bill will not increase too much.
01:38 The current consumption of electricity is higher because of the hot weather.
