00:12In this installment, we'll be ranking, drumroll please,
00:16the Top 10 Video Game Dunkey Videos.
00:20Having so much fun playing this!
00:23How are you, Josh?
00:25Number 10, Remakes and Remasters.
00:29When a developer goes back and remasters a beloved game,
00:32they get a chance to make the game as good as you remember it being.
00:35While most of Dunkey's videos show him messing around in various games,
00:39he does put out a video essay every once in a while.
00:42His Remakes and Remasters video was a strong analysis of the follies
00:47of companies remaking or remastering their games,
00:50and what kinds of titles would warrant such a process.
00:53A lot of issues this game has could be fixed simply
00:56by letting the player switch cons with the D-pad,
00:59like you hit right, bam, diddy con, bam, chombo con.
01:02Despite being uploaded way back in 2016,
01:05much of what Dunkey says here still rings true today,
01:09in how companies favor certain IPs over others,
01:12and how reckless they can be in fixing certain things over actual problems.
01:17This game has huge game-breaking bugs,
01:20but instead of fixing that, they made the water look better.
01:27Number nine, Worst Hanzo Ever.
01:29Yeah, I don't know if we need a Hanzo.
01:32Oh, Hanzo, nice job.
01:35One problem with online games is how many folks
01:38tend to optimize the fun out of their games.
01:40People get so caught up in which character is good and which is bad,
01:45and who matches up better against what.
01:47In reality, it just all boils down to if you understand the mechanics.
01:52Dunkey's video here, Worst Hanzo Ever, is clear evidence of that.
01:57We need him in strike one, he needs this.
01:59He needs this bad strike two, oh wow, and here he goes,
02:01that's strike three, he's outta there.
02:03Throughout the video, you'll see Dunkey be subjected to scrutiny and slurs
02:08for choosing to play certain characters in Overwatch,
02:11only to become the MVP at the end of each match.
02:14No one will ever forget the legend of Donsly ever again.
02:18If you switch off Tracer, she's not really good.
02:23Number eight, Dunk's Souls 3.
02:26I ain't never listening to one of these ever again in my life.
02:29Beware your left, that means the monster will be on my right.
02:34He's probably will attack for-
02:36Damn it!
02:36There are so many videos of Dunkey playing Soulsborne that are worth watching.
02:42We'll love his Sekiro and Bloodborne videos,
02:45but Dunk's Souls 3 is the best of the bunch.
02:48No matter how many times Dunkey pretends to be the perfect strategist,
02:52his eventual deaths by the game's bosses are just as funny
02:55as when we saw the video the first time.
02:58A new challenger approaches, but does he have what it takes to be a champion?
03:03Oh, he's pretty good.
03:04He's good.
03:05He knows what he's doing.
03:06It also just perfectly encapsulates the trials and tribulations
03:10of playing a Dark Souls game for the first time.
03:13So much pain and suffering, all for the amusement of others.
03:17Just remember that the plunging attack is the most reliable move in the game,
03:22and you'll be fine.

03:28Number seven, Extreme Mario Maker.
03:31So I guess one of these, eventually I'll get the one that's not there.
03:36Speaking of pain and suffering,
03:38Super Mario Maker was loaded with all kinds of levels designed to make players sweat.
03:43Dunkey takes on some of those levels here,
03:46but most of it is spent on one level known as Giga Bowser's Reckoning.
03:51What did I say, people?
03:52Didn't I say that this game was for children?
03:55And I stand correct, as always.
03:58Now watch and le-
04:00Though Dunkey seems to be in complete agony in some moments,
04:03it was still entertaining to see him showcase neat ideas for mechanics
04:08and eventually beat each level.
04:10Of course, what else would you expect from the grand champion of Bowser's Big Bean Burrito?

04:22Number six, Game Dev Tycoon.
04:24And I think this is a good game that we've made here.
04:27Critics are calling it pretty bad.
04:30Meh.
04:31We all know about Dunkey's video game publishing arm, Big Mode.
04:35But a long time ago, way back in 2013,
04:39Dunkey simulated how he'd fare as a game developer.
04:43Through the use of a PC indie game, Game Dev Tycoon,
04:46Dunkey starts up Paul Benis Games and becomes a millionaire
04:50thanks to the smash hits known as Wild Wild Smith,
04:53Beaver Ball,
04:54and the Kill Butt series.
04:56Millionaire!
04:57Um, I'm a millionaire!
05:01Um, millionaire coming through!
05:04It's actually not selling that many.
05:05Okay, maybe we're exaggerating the term smash hit,
05:08but you can't help getting a bit overzealous and protective of your own IP, right?
05:14If only the ride hadn't crashed and burned the way it did.

05:25Number five, the Tekken 7 videos.
05:29No!
05:32Nope.
05:35How did I do that?
05:36For the shenanigans Dunkey goes through,
05:38you may not realize that he is one of the best Kuma players out there.
05:42This expectedly comes to the chagrin of one of his friends and online randos.
05:47Kuma is known to have some super cheap tactics in his toolkit,
05:52and Dunkey knows exactly how to use and exploit every one of them.
05:56Only now I break out my menace.
06:02The dancing, the pancake press, the stance changes,
06:05every annoying bit of Kuma is shown off here, and it is hilarious.
06:11And yes, Dunkey has already put out a Tekken 8 video,
06:14and we can't wait to see more Kuma antics.
06:23Number four, Game Critics.
06:25When you have multiple writers working on a website,
06:27you can lose track of who's actually talking.
06:29Breathe easy, Sonic fans.
06:31Sega got this one right.
06:32Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
06:33I think that's pretty mediocre.
06:35Sonic is good again.
06:36Sonic was never good.
06:37Game media has become increasingly aggravating for many folks
06:41due to constantly conflicting opinions and trivial talking points.
06:45Dunkey highlights these problems and more in this video.
06:48And honestly, it's got some hard truth here.
06:51So many of these reviews read exactly the same.
06:54Makes you feel eerily like Batman.
06:56The player really feel like Batman.
06:58From the way review scores rarely reflect a critic's feelings about a game,
07:02to how some audiences seek reviews and comic sections for validation.
07:07Dunkey lays out every issue in how we view and treat game criticism,
07:11while emphasizing how everyone has different tastes.
07:15Really, he makes a lot of good points here.
07:17Mainstream critics are pretty much restricted to only play the latest releases.
07:21So their standards are defined by what's been done recently.
07:25Number three, Bad Graphics.
07:27There's like 50 sources of light,
07:29and enemies just blend right into the environment.
07:31It is a cluttered overload.
07:33Another absurd attitude we see in the gaming space,
07:35is how graphics define a game's quality to some people.
07:39Most of these people conflate the quality of graphics with a game's art style.
07:43Here, Dunkey presents the idea of how graphics go beyond a game's visual fidelity.
07:48See how Link barely takes up any space on the screen,
07:51compared to here,
07:52where a third of the screen is dedicated entirely to Batman.
07:55In a sense, graphics also embody a game's UI, HUD, and camera placement.
08:01There are many other compelling arguments he makes here,
08:03such as enemy design matching color schemes,
08:06and the problems with filters like motion blur and film grain.
08:10So, you should really check it out if you haven't already.
08:13You look at a hand-animated cutscene,
08:15and it's so alive and expressive,
08:17versus an automated cutscene with two stiff robots,
08:20not even trying to lip-sync their audio.
08:22Number two, Legend of Zelda Donkey Breath.
08:25I'm gonna do like a log roll,

08:35When Breath of the Wild launched,
08:37there were so many great videos on YouTube
08:40showcasing the crazy and cool things that can happen in the game.
08:44But, if you truly want to see the amount of freedom you have,
08:48Dunkey's got a great one for you.
08:50Now, that's a pretty good weapon.
