00:00 It is possible that the rain will be delayed in the country.
00:03 That is based on the projection of hope.
00:05 Is it possible that the floods in the state of calamity will be added?
00:09 We will talk about that and another important issue with Task Force El Nino's spokesperson,
00:14 Asec Joey Villarama.
00:16 Good morning to you, Joey.
00:18 Good morning, Kashi. Good morning, Connie, and to you, fellow viewers.
00:22 Good morning, Asec Joey.
00:24 In your latest monitoring, how many towns and municipalities are under state of calamity because of El Nino?
00:31 Actually, Connie, as of 6 a.m. this morning, the number of towns and municipalities under state of calamity has increased.
00:40 So, it is now at 208 cities and municipalities.
00:44 Some of these are actually entire provinces.
00:49 So, seven entire provinces and around 32 or so individual municipalities.
00:55 So, if you total it, it is now at 208 that declared state of calamity.
00:59 Asec, based on the projection of hope, it is possible that the rain will be delayed in the country.
01:04 What action will the government take?
01:07 Actually, that is right because we were saying before that there should be rain in the beginning of May.
01:15 But June, July, August, we are still not expecting that we will receive sufficient rainfall.
01:21 So, the task force's work in El Nino is just continuous in terms of interventions, especially in the agricultural sector.
01:29 Although it will shift, like it did by August, our rain is still not sufficient.
01:35 So, what we are doing now in terms of helping the fishermen, we will continue that
01:42 until we reach the point where the rainfall that our country will receive is sufficient.
01:47 Asec, a judge ruled that the conflicting data of the Department of Agriculture and NDRRMC
01:54 when it comes to El Nino damage, what is your explanation for this?
01:57 Actually, the data was really obtained by the Department of Agriculture.
02:02 But the process that is being done in terms of validation and confirming the correct data is not done.
02:14 But the issue here is that there are far-flung areas.
02:20 That is why the technical officers or the field officers of the Department of Agriculture
02:25 cannot reach the national office immediately and cannot transmit the data.
02:29 So, the NDRRMC receives it a bit late.
02:33 But what we are really basing it on is DA.
02:37 And that is really correct if we look at the Department of Agriculture as our most updated.
02:45 Okay. Thank you very much for the time you shared in Balitang Hali.
02:49 Thank you very much, Rafi. Thank you very much, Connie.
02:52 Task Force El Nino spokesperson Asec Joey Villarama.
