Thousands of Hungarians gather in ruling party stronghold to cheer, rally leading opposition leader Peter Magyar
Transcript
00:00 Nightly greetings one and all. William Thio here, homegrown and happy to bring you the
00:04 latest major events here and elsewhere on the planet that have obtained within the last
00:10 24-hour news cycle and tops in today's news leaderboard. National Security Council Assistant
00:17 Director Jonathan Malaya brushed off claims earlier today made by China over Western Command
00:24 Chief Vice Admiral Alberto Carlos as among those who gave the thumbs up on a new framework or
00:30 model to managing the status quo in Ayungin, Shoal. In a Bating Pilipinas Ngayon presser,
00:37 Malaya pushed back on the Chinese Embassy's latest assertions by AFP Western Command,
00:43 allegedly and repeatedly confirming a number of high-ranking officials of the Marcos
00:48 Junior Administration approving this new model of comportment or conduct to bring the temperature
00:55 down in Ayungin, Shoal. Malaya further claimed this latest piece of propaganda,
01:00 specifically tagged as "cognitive domain warfare" by China, was conceived to further muddle the
01:06 issue, create an air of fear among Filipinos, and demoralize or stifle the growing fervor and
01:12 patriotism among Filipinos to stand by the government on this issue. Meanwhile, the President
01:18 or Commander-in-Chief has ordered the military and government vessels doing resupply missions
01:24 in the country's exclusive economic zone to exercise the greatest patience amidst acts of
01:30 bullying and apply the policy of greatest transparency and observance to the rule of law.
01:38 Meanwhile, thousands of disgruntled Hungarians took to the streets in the city of Debrecen,
01:43 a ruling party stronghold, to hold a joint rally Sunday and weeks before the European Parliament's
01:50 elections and the local polls in early June. A former government insider and first serious
01:56 challenger to populist and Hungarian strongman Orbán, Peter Magyar spearheaded and organized
02:03 the rally. Debrecen has been known as FIDEZ country or ruling party stranglehold since the
02:10 late 1900s, in which 60 percent of its leaders since then have been candidates from the
02:16 administration. But when Peter Magyar took to the stage for his speech, the 10,000-strong crowd
02:22 cheered and waved Hungarian flags in the air. Among the policies Magyar attacked was the extremely
02:28 low level of child support allowances or funding the government has afforded Hungarians across the
02:34 board. Critics of Orbán, to include international watchdogs, allege Orbán has channeled European
02:41 Union funds to businessmen with strings to the ruling party so Orbán could entrench himself in
02:48 power. And at this juncture, we turn to PTV's Pine City Studios to hear from my colleague on
02:55 the latest developments in the Cordilleras.

04:01 I even challenged the groups because you know practically they know each other
04:06 that they propose to us. Because sometimes they are the ones who, according to them,
04:12 they're not aware or they're not okay with some of the guidelines that we have set. So we are
04:20 asking them to suggest.
