However, she refused to comment on why the complaint process against Ms Abbott had taken more than a year. Report by Alibhaiz. Like us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/itn and follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/itn

00:00 Anyone who reads the statement that Natalie Alfick produced would be really
00:05 clear about the reason why she has realised that the Conservative Party just
00:11 can't deliver the change that our country needs and it's only Labour that
00:15 can deliver that change and you know I think anyone whether they're a Labour
00:18 supporter or from any political background will also understand that the
00:23 Conservatives can't and will not deliver on our country's security, on migration,
00:29 on housing. Diane Abbott obviously is a trailblazer, she's been incredibly
00:35 important within the Labour Party but we do also have an independent complaints
00:40 process. It's important that we have a robust process that that operates without
00:45 fear or favour. I'm not going to comment on any individual case but I'm sure that
00:51 people watching this will understand that we need to have that kind of a
00:54 process. Of course the Labour Party's learned the hard way after the Equalities
00:58 and Human Rights Commission actually having to intervene in my party because
01:02 of our failures in dealing with complaints. That's a issue of great shame
01:06 to me and it's quite right that we put in place a robust system so that we
01:10 never have those kind of failures affecting us again.
