00:00Will, let's start with Liverpool and look at the aims for the new campaign. Obviously Arnie Slott will be coming in to replace Jürgen Klopp, it's been spoken about but obviously not fully confirmed by the club yet.
00:12But looking at this new sort of era, coming off the back of such a historic one with Jürgen Klopp, what are their aims for the new campaign? How can you see that sort of going?
00:23It's a difficult one really because on the back of this campaign you'll be looking at Liverpool back in the Champions League, now they'll be looking to challenge again if Jürgen Klopp is in charge but is it going to be a season of transition?
00:36Well I don't think Liverpool maybe can afford that because this was supposed to be the transitional season where they overhauled the midfield and brought in new players and they had to get their ideas across
00:50and said all along that the Champions League would be the main aim and probably Liverpool have overachieved, they've been in the title race for so long.
00:58But Liverpool fans, they'll be wanting to get back towards challenging for the title ultimately and for major honours.
01:05I mean third place in the Carabao Cup is a decent enough season but Liverpool, they've seen Liverpool challenging for the Premier League, going toe-to-toe with Man City and they're seeing Arsenal do it now
01:16and they'll be thinking can we get back into that position again? But it's going to take Arnie Slott a little bit of time to get his methods across, of course it is, it happens with every manager.
01:27He's going to want to tweak a couple of things, the way he wants to play, of course he will, that's just natural.
01:33So how long is that going to take? Will Liverpool have a difficult start to the season? Going to be making up ground maybe and can they afford to do that?
01:43Ultimately, Michael Edwards, the CEO of football for FSG and incoming sporting director Richard Hughes and FSG themselves will be laying down Arnie Slott's aims before the start of the season
01:58or when he's coming in saying year one, year two, year three, even year one and then after that you expect him to challenge for everything like Jürgen Klopp has
02:08because Liverpool can't really afford to slump back into a team that maybe the top four is the aim every season and that's about it.
02:18They might challenge for a domestic piece of silverware, they need to stay at the top level really because that's what Jürgen Klopp's built
02:28and Liverpool won't be wanting to go back to the daddy era of Hodgson, Brendan Rodgers, they're at the top of the European ladder now and they won't want to lose the position.
02:41Why is it not even performances but goals also dries up as well? Liverpool will be looking at all the land, all the data, etc, what they've got available to them.
02:52So maybe we've just got a little bit ahead of ourselves by saying that maybe it is on the downward curve and it's just a dipping fork.
