Mayor Making ceremony in Skegness

Coun Adrian Findley has become the new Mayor of Skegness, taking over from Coun Pete Barry. Coun Jimmy Brookes is the new Deputy Mayor.

00:09Councillor Finlay, congratulations. How does it feel to finally be mayor?

00:14It was amazing. It was a cracking bunch of people. The council was very supportive.

00:20Absolute an honour to take up the role of the mayor. So really looking forward to the next 12 months.

00:26What are you looking forward to most?

00:28I don't really know how to answer that. Obviously running meetings is going to be a new experience.

00:39Getting myself out and about in events. Seeing what fantastic events there are around in and

00:44around Skegness. So yeah, I'm excited to what the year holds.

00:50And your mayor, Sarah, she's a councillor too. So that must be quite normal, you both out together.

00:57Yeah, she's so proud of me. She was made up that I got the position. So yeah,

01:02I think we'll be spending a lot more time together. See how the year goes.

01:14Absolutely excited. I'm really looking forward to supporting the mayor this year.

01:23What does it mean to you to be deputy mayor?

01:26It's actually a great honour because I see it as a once in a lifetime opportunity, to be honest,

01:32to support Skegness and be the deputy mayor. It's absolutely brilliant. It's amazing.

01:38Are you following in your brother's footsteps?

01:39Yes, I am.

01:41Councillor Danny Brooks has been mayor in the past, hasn't he?

01:44Yes, yes.

01:45So you're looking forward to stepping up next year?

01:49Well, yeah, fingers crossed. As long as it all goes well, obviously.

01:53But yeah, I'm absolutely really looking forward to it.

01:56But like I say, I'm going to support Aidy as much as I can this year.
