00:00Before we talk about, uh, you're being a single mother.
00:09Noong sabi mo ang naghiwalay kayo. You stayed together for six years.
00:13Naalala ko lang because we're doing this special dito sa GMA7.
00:17Umpisa na po ngayong Sunday, May 12, Mother's Day.
00:20I'm doing a special called My Mother, My Story.
00:24Ang una-una ming guest ay si Luis Manzano.
00:26And, uh, we are honored with, uh, the presence or by the presence of Miss Vilma Santos and Ryan Christian.
00:52Yes.
00:53Bakit sementeryo?
00:54He was, what, about four or five years old.
00:57He was brought by his dad and mom sa libingan ng mga bayani at dun sila nag-usap-usap.
01:02That's the narrative of how they broke the news to the young Luis na kami naghiwalay na.
01:09Noong kayo ni Vic naghiwalay, did you do a conversation with the children?
01:13No. It was the other way around because, um, well, masakit mang isipin at balik-balikan yun.
01:21But it was the other way around because the kids started noticing na,
01:24how come, how come papa's not coming home?
01:27How come, how come, how come daddy's always not home?
01:31Where is he? Ganyan-ganyan.
01:33And then, I don't know, maybe he's at work, ganyan-ganyan.
01:37Hanggang sa, muna one day siya hindi uwi, naging two days, naging three days,
01:50And then, wala, sinabi lang ni Vic na, okay, weekends you're gonna spend with me
01:56and then weekdays you're going to spend with your mama, ganyan-ganyan.
02:00Pero you had that conversation?
02:11Well, at one time, sinabi ko, and I remember we were in the set of one movie we were doing
02:16and nagkaiyakang kami na, you know, of course I wish that we could spend more time with daddy,
02:21but I think, you know, we're going through some challenges and it's going to take time
02:29before I spend time with daddy again.
02:32Pero si Oyo nun, violent reaction, no, I want daddy, I want daddy, only daddy.
02:38No other, only daddy.
02:40Kahit na may lumalapit sa akin kung actor, go away, go away.
02:43Nakala niya lagi may kumukuha sa akin.
02:46Si Danica was more of, alam niya na, I don't know, baka sinabi ng lola, hindi ko alam,
02:53pero I never really got to tell her, pero siya yung lagi nagahanap sa daddy niya
02:58because when Danica was alone, wala pa siyang kapatid, yun yung happiest years namin ni Vic eh.
03:05Yung every weekend we would go out, we would go out of town every weekend,
03:10Danica was the favorite of everyone, talagang papasa-pasa, everybody wanted to carry her,
03:16everybody wanted to hold her, to feed her, and then all of a sudden, iba na.
03:23Okay.
03:24So talagang afektado.
03:26So I just said, well, I hope it's not like this, and then that's when she said,
03:30na, mommy, I want you and daddy to be back together.
03:35Every time I remember that, naiyak ako, boy.
03:39Kasi as a mother, not because, you know, gusto ko kami pa rin ni Vic kasi si Vic Soto,
03:47no, but every mother would want to be with the father of her children.
03:51Of course.
03:52It's every mother's wish to have a whole family, not a broken one.
03:58So when you remember the pain of your children while they're telling you that,
04:04you feel so helpless eh.
04:06You wish you could change things, but you can't.
04:11There was no blame game in front of the children.
04:15Hindi kayo nag-away sa harap ng mga bata.
04:17Never.
04:18Kami ni Vic never, ah, actually nagulat nga yung mga bata.
04:21How come daddies, how come you're not together anymore?
04:23I never heard you and daddy fight.
04:25Kasi we never fight in front of the kids.
04:28We never fight in front of the kids and I never bad-mouthed their dad to the children.
04:32Never.
04:38And I'd always say, you will only have one dad and that's your dad and you have to respect him.
04:43Did you have a confrontation with Vic about, ito'y nakaraan ako kasi eh,
04:48napapagusapan lamang natin because of the dynamics of the relationship.
04:52Did you have a conversation with Vic about isang kaibigan natin, Connie Reyes?
04:58Did you have a conversation?
04:59Yeah.
05:00But it wasn't even a spirited fight or what.
05:03Quiet lang.
05:04Quiet na pangugusan.
05:05Parang bakit?
05:06Bakit?
05:08Did you get an answer?
05:09Yeah.
05:10Because I was inexperienced.
05:13Sabi ko, what can you do?
05:14Virgin ako eh.
05:15I mean what?
05:16You want me to read all the books?
05:19I mean, you want to play games?
05:21Show me how.
05:24I was a kid.
05:25I didn't know much.
05:26Parang yan ang sinabi niya sa aking sagot.
05:28Para lang matapos yung narrative na yun.
05:30How did the reconciliation, how did the friendship, how did the forgiveness happen?
05:38Oh wow.
05:39It took a lot of time.
05:42Until the point na Danica was telling me, alam mo mommy you're so bitter.
05:47I wish you would really let go.
05:50Because you're so bitter.
05:51Kasi parang every waking moment, konting if there's a little opportunity, I would.
05:57You know like when I felt sad and alone and I was having a hard time with the kids.
06:00Like when we're transferring houses and all these things.
06:02You would rant.
06:03I would rant.
06:04Kasi diba parang bata-bata ko, I should have a man with me.
06:08Ang ganda-ganda ko.
06:09Parang I'm so pretty.
06:10Parang what?
06:11Sikat na-sikat ako.
06:12Diba parang I'm up there and parang what?
06:16Are you serious?
06:18Diba parang even, I wasn't a child anymore but 23 is young.
06:23Diba parang you don't understand a lot of things.
06:27But I don't know, I guess you know through time sabi ko walang pupuntahan nito unless I really let go.
06:33And just accept that it's like this.
06:37And so eventually naging Christian ako after studying all the many religions.
06:42And then I bumped into her and she asked me, do you want to go to our church?
06:46Parang nagulat ako.
06:48Go to your church?
06:49Bulagulong.
06:51But then you know.
06:57Diba? You're going there for God.
06:58So then I realized.
07:00Tapos sabi, and then nakita ko na, I mean she changed in leaps and bounds.
07:05Like bringing people to God.
07:07Bringing people to Jesus.
07:09Telling people about the good news of salvation.
07:12So I asked myself, my God, is this a person I'd like to hate?
07:17I can't hate this person.
07:20I can't.
07:22So I just, I let it go.
07:24And then I gave her a bunch of white roses and I said, I forgive you.
07:30And then she, actually there was one time na she tried to talk to me.
07:34Ano pa ako nun, kasi it was in public.
07:38But then I forgave her.
07:39I forgave Vic.
07:40I also sent him flowers and I said, I forgive you.
07:43But most of all, I forgive me.
07:46And then I imagined myself, you know.
07:47I went to the beach one time with the kids.
07:49And I imagined myself throwing all my tears into the sea.
07:54All my samanang lob, draining it out of me.
07:57Parang I'm letting you go.
07:59I want a fresh start.
08:00A new me.
08:02I'm still valuable.
08:03I'm still able.
08:05I have worth.
08:06I can, I am worth it.
08:07You know, I can reinvent myself.
08:09All is not lost.
08:10I can do things.
08:13And that's what happened.
08:39You
