00:00 Hello folks we're here at Baston Hill and Oak Meadow Church of England Primary School.
00:05 A fantastic building behind you, brand new as well.
00:08 What's it going to be used for? Fill us in.
00:11 Well this amazing new building is called the Oaklands Community Hub
00:15 and we're really excited that we've been able to build this for our community.
00:19 Baston Hill is an amazing place, it's got some amazing volunteers,
00:22 wonderful people who just want to make positive contributions to the area
00:27 and we wanted to be able to help with that so we've built this amazing building.
00:31 It's going to be open to Baston Hill local groups, initiatives and anyone beyond that really.
00:37 We're hoping that through that we can create a real network of local groups
00:44 that work really well together for the benefit of everyone.
00:46 Yeah, so your headteacher here, this happening under your reign,
00:50 it's quite exciting really isn't it? It's a bit different as well.
00:53 Really different, it was a vision that the staff, the Trust and the local community all built together
00:59 so really excited to be a part of it.
01:01 So buildings don't come for free, so a bit of funding was helped by,
01:05 that's why we might maybe come to you in the middle madam.
01:07 So you're CEO of the Marches Academy Trust, is that right?
01:11 That's right, Marches Academy Trust, yes.
01:13 It's really important, it's key to our trust that every one of our schools is the heart of their communities
01:21 and we prioritise our capital spend for, first of all it's to make sure our buildings are safe and secure
01:31 and all the basic works are done, but after that it's about making sure we do things that put the schools
01:39 at the heart of the community and Sam and her team and governors wanted to make sure that the various
01:47 different societies and clubs in the village could have access to a building where they could use for
01:59 various different activities for families to be able to experience.
02:06 And you're, on the end there, you're going to have the honour of cutting this ribbon aren't you?
02:10 I am, yes.
02:11 Representing the Parish Council.
02:12 I'm Caroline Clode, currently chair of the Basin Hill Parish Council and I've been invited today here by the school to open.
02:20 Fantastic.
02:21 Officially open this lovely brand new building and as Sam and Sarah have said, we have amazing links already
02:28 with the whole village and the Parish Council hope to be, help and be part of that as well when possible.
02:35 So it consists of, what have we got here then? So we've got an office, we've got the toilet facilities,
02:40 just give us a run through on what we've exactly got in here.
02:42 Yeah, we've got two rooms available for use. One of them is called the Oak Room.
02:47 That seats largely around 30 people and then we've got our Acorns Room, slightly smaller for smaller groups
02:55 and that will hold up to about 20. So anybody who rents the space also can make use of our fabulous outdoor facilities.
03:04 I've clocked the swing seat, we'll flash an image of that, looks really cosy.
03:08 And it's really good because it's got a kitchen and it's got facilities that people can make their refreshments with
03:16 and the really good thing about the space is it's got its own access as well so even when the school's not open,
03:21 the space can still be used by the community.
03:23 It's open potentially evenings and weekends isn't it as well?
03:26 Evenings and weekends and during the holidays so anybody that's interested in using the space,
03:32 just get in touch and we'll see what we can work out.
03:35 Well on behalf of the Baston Hill Parish Council, it gives me great pleasure to open the Oakland Community Hub Building.
