00:00 All right, Alex, we were here at Darlington Raceway and getting you up to speed on some
00:03 news that broke this past week.
00:05 Michael McDowell, we know you're in the 34 for the rest of the season, but making a move
00:08 in 2025 over to Spire Motorsports.
00:11 Why 2025?
00:12 Why now?
00:13 Yeah, it's just the timing was right.
00:15 The opportunity was right.
00:16 You know, there's there's so much that goes on behind the scenes in our sport.
00:20 And, you know, I'm so thankful for everything that I've been able to do with with front
00:23 row and Bob Jenkins in this 34 car.
00:25 We've had great accomplishments and milestones.
00:29 And I really feel like this is a great opportunity for me to continue in my cup career.
00:35 We've seen what you have brought to front row motorsports.
00:37 Your teammates have mostly been rookies when they've come and joined you over there and
00:40 how much of a mentorship you've lent to them.
00:42 But what are you hoping to bring to Spire and helping that organization?
00:47 I hope to bring speed and performance for all the cars.
00:50 And as you know, Alex, it's all about people.
00:53 And so people are the key ingredient to what makes race team successful.
00:57 Also just hopefully extracting the best out of the people and on the racetrack and performance.
01:02 They have solid drivers.
01:03 I think that that Carson Hosemar shown so much talent and ability.
01:07 He'll be a future star.
01:09 And Corey's always done so much to overachieve and to work with a little bit less.
01:15 And that's where I was five, six years ago when we were building this program at front
01:18 row.
01:19 So hopefully I can bring some of that experience of what it took to take us from point A to
01:23 B or B to A and bring some of that as well to Spire.
01:27 They have such a great foundation and great people over there that I think the transition
01:32 will be easier.
01:33 Well, we saw you have such a successful 2023 season.
01:36 Now the rest of 2024 with Front Row Motorsports.
01:38 What's the goal this season?
01:39 How do you finish it out strong for them?
01:41 You know, that's easy.
01:42 I mean, I think that everybody has the same mindset.
01:45 Results always are better when, you know, it doesn't matter if you're the team owner,
01:50 if you're the sponsor, if you're the driver, we're all going to work hard to win a race
01:53 and get in the playoffs.
01:54 I believe we have the speed to do it.
01:56 We have the team to do it.
01:57 So it's been a rough 2024.
01:59 We've had a lot of speed, but we haven't executed well.
02:02 But we're still early in the season and we still have a lot of racing left.
02:06 And, you know, we also have a decent amount of top tens, too.
02:09 So it just shows where our speed's at.
02:11 We just got to do that consistently and not have any issues, you know, myself included.
02:16 And we'll be back in the hunt here soon.
02:18 All right, Michael McDowell in the 71 for 2025.
