00:00 All right guys, rules of the tournament, lock them in the corner, you know it's a special
00:03 challenge, you can go to the corner if you want to, if not, go back to the corner.
00:05 You guys good?
00:06 We're ready to get underway in our main event of the evening, Robbie Davies Jr. versus Sergei
00:12 Lipanyans.
00:13 Ready, ready.
00:14 That's overused a little bit, but a must win fight for both of these fighters.
00:20 And they know it, start of round number one.
00:23 Yeah, this is a fight that we were talking about for a couple weeks and months leading
00:29 up to this, I was very excited to see guys at this level matching up on paper.
00:34 Like you said, Jimmy, this is a fantastic competitive fight.
00:37 You know about the punching power of Lipanyans, especially down at about 140.
00:41 He has real power.
00:43 Davies Jr. has got that European style, little flat footed, but hands very, very high, likes
00:49 to initiate a brawl.
00:51 Lipanyans is a typical British fighter, he wants to brawl.
00:55 And Davies, he's tall for the weight class, he's a big 40 pounder.
01:00 Even though Lipanyans is coming down, you see Davies has the height and reach advantage.
01:04 Landed a nice chopping right hand from the outside as the shorter Lipanyans was trying
01:08 to close the distance.
01:09 Yeah, you're talking about flat footed, Jimmy, at this point in most guys careers, mid 30s
01:14 you typically end up becoming flatter footed anyway, so no surprise both these guys, we
01:18 may see more flat footedness from them.
01:21 Oh, it's horrendous.
01:22 Yeah, than maybe had earlier in their careers.
01:24 Lipanyans is always flat footed, he's a puncher.
01:26 He closes the distance, he's obviously a short guy even for this weight class.
01:30 He's campaigning 147, obviously he's much, much shorter, but even at 40 he's short.
01:35 But very flat footed, big, big, big puncher.
01:37 17 wins, 13 of those by KO, and he fought top class guys from the opening.
01:42 Gentlemen, you've got to talk about this, in his first 20 fights he's taken on Mikey Garcia,
01:45 Jaron Ennis, he's taken on some great fighters.
01:48 What does that do for you?
01:49 What do you want to lose?
01:50 Being in the ring with those guys, what does it do for you?
01:52 I always talk about the biggest intangible in the world is experience, and Lipanyans
01:55 has that in spades.
01:57 He's been a world champion, so he has that confidence that he can handle himself.
02:01 It does something to you mentally when you've been at the mountaintop, when you've won a
02:05 major world championship, you know you can handle it yourself.
02:07 Even when you're older, you still know you have that veteran savvy.
02:10 Well, Tyler, by the way, in his 13th pro fight, he did not have a long career before he was
02:16 fighting world class guys.
02:17 He was a kickboxer first, he said, "I lost track at 500 fights in kickboxing."
02:21 Now that's amateur and pro.
02:23 Right.
02:24 Yikes.
02:25 Yeah, so he's got a lot of experience.
02:26 You see it on his trunks, the samurai, he's got two swords there.
02:31 Got that warrior spirit.
02:34 Russian national champion kickboxer.
02:36 He just couldn't make any money there, had to go to boxing.
02:39 He's trying to mentally pressure Davies, and obviously physically pressure him, but be better
02:44 off to cut off the ring.
02:45 He's got Davies going back, trying to put that pressure on him, but he'd be better off
02:49 to cut off the ring from Davies as well.
02:51 Good body shot there from Davies.
02:52 To your point, champ, when these guys have lost, they've been outmaneuvered, right?
02:56 Their footwork hasn't been all the way there.
02:58 They've been out-technique when it comes to the footwork when these gentlemen have lost.
03:03 But Lepinets has an interesting history because most of these Russians or Eastern Europeans
03:10 come with huge amateur credentials.
03:12 He comes from kickboxing and still managed to win a world championship.
03:15 A bit of a backdoor entry to the world championship in boxing.
03:19 You OK?
03:30 Good. Will you pass me a water as well, mate?
03:32 And again, one more.
03:34 How do you feel?
03:37 Good. How does he feel?
03:39 Good, good.
03:40 Too much behind the shots as well.
03:42 Just do respect what might come, right?
03:44 Listen, good finish round, yeah?
03:46 Won the round well. OK.
03:48 Listen, you know what we say about speed, Peter?
03:51 You are so much faster than jab, left hook body, jab, right hook body, yeah?
03:56 I've been to England so I can translate.
03:58 It's jab, left hook body.
04:00 It's really sad, by the way, gentlemen.
04:02 Have you been to Liverpool, though? Or Manchester?
04:04 There's that good right hand there from Lepinets coming over the top of the guard.
04:08 Tries it again. Davies gets underneath that one.
04:11 And Lepinets being a shorter guy has those good looping shots,
04:15 which is a great weapon against taller fighters, especially as they pull back.
04:18 You have to end up catching them on the tip of their chin.
04:20 Davies needs to be cautious of that, pulling straight back on a shorter man through looping shots.
04:25 Yeah, Davies Jr. last time out, losing by knockout and injury.
04:30 Broke his ankle. Actually had to have a plate put in it against Dara Foley.
04:35 And he said from there, "I was in no man's land, man.
04:38 I really didn't have any opportunities. I didn't know what I was going to do.
04:40 I got this opportunity to fight in the States and I immediately took it."
04:43 But you talked about the desperation of that loss to try to rebuild his career.
04:49 A lot on his shoulders tonight.
04:50 Well, you said in the open, Jim, one thing to get stopped and get knocked out,
04:55 but it's another thing actually to have a career-altering injury like that,
04:58 a major ankle fracture that requires surgery.
05:01 It's a tough place to be mentally, like you said.
05:04 Davies has to try to get back to that center of the ring.
05:07 Lippingett's starting to press him more and more.
05:10 Yeah, he's giving up ground.
05:11 Oh, both men landed good shots.
05:13 This is the fight Lippingett said would happen.
05:16 He's going to brawl and brawl right there with him.
05:18 I think Davies would be smart to use that length and not get into too many extended exchanges with Sergey.
05:25 But he needs to do that if he's going to take control that way.
05:27 He's got to continuously be first on the outside.
05:29 Keep Sergey at bay with that jab.
05:31 And both these guys trading big hooks on the inside, those kind of shots,
05:37 those looping overhand shots are Sergey Lippingett's M.O.
05:41 You can see the power of Lippingett.
05:47 He's leaving red marks all over the body and face of Davies whenever he lands.
05:52 It's also easy to see when you've never seen the sun.
05:57 Yeah, well, yeah.
05:58 We see every mark.
05:59 He's very fair-skinned. That is a good point, Jimmy.
06:02 Lippingett's keeping the physical pressure on. Good right hand.
06:08 And you've got Lippinett. He's got his nice California tan going because he trains out on the West Coast.
06:13 Yeah, you're starting to see Lippinett finding his groove, the comfortability, the experience, staying very relaxed.
06:25 You like to see Davies maybe using some jabs to change up looks, maybe giving some level changes there to throw Lippinett's attack off.
06:33 Good straight right. And a body shot.
06:35 Every once in a while, Davies responds, but then he goes back to mainly allowing Lippinett to be first.
06:41 Look from the nose of Davies now on the strength of those hard, stiff jabs from Lippinett.
06:46 Even though he's a smarter, shorter man, he's using rhythm to close the distance and land those stiff jabs up the middle.
06:52 See Lippinett's taking some risks now, letting both hands kind of float a little bit low.
06:56 And that's one thing I think that you can take, oh good left hook upstairs from Lippinett's, from that kickboxing background shape.
07:01 You mentioned that. He's got a certain kind of rhythm to him. It's a little herky-jerky.
07:05 It's not something you normally see from an Eastern European fighter, but a kickboxer, it looks very familiar for guys like me.
07:10 Look as he closes round number two, Lippinett's so far in control.
07:17 That move like that, that bouncy smoothness.
07:21 I'm waiting for a teep right through the center with that footwork.
07:44 Davies landing some good crunches in that second round, but it was Lippinett's kind of controlling the real estate, bringing the pressure as you said, Paulie.
07:51 He was the one in the face of Davies.
07:53 Speaking of the face of Davies, you see the marks getting marked up.
07:57 Looks like a little abrasion under the eye, blood from the nose.
08:00 That world class power is different, man. Sergei's got that.
08:05 Also, we've seen it over and over in conference fights. Certain guys don't wear damage well.
08:12 You take a couple shots and they look terrible.
08:14 You're looking at two of them. Paulie and I marked up very, very easily throughout our entire career.
08:18 Davies looks like he's got the kind of skin that's similar.
08:21 Moving into round number three. Davies Jr. in the white, red and gold. Lippinett's in the black and gold.
08:29 Fighter from the UK, Davies Jr., Commonwealth champion, British champion, European champion.
08:37 Lippinett's former world champion at 140.
08:40 You see the world class ability of Lippinett. You see how he doesn't get too far over his front foot.
08:45 Even though he's an aggressive guy coming forward, he still keeps that weight on his back leg
08:50 and being able to shift and have range to pull in and out.
08:54 I used to call that fade. You're able to pull out with your feet where they are.
08:58 Doesn't over commit to any shot.
09:00 Davies for his part says, "I'm always in camp. I'm always training. I just turn it up when I have a fight coming."
09:07 With my uncertain future, I was ready when I got this call.
09:10 Now he looks to be in fantastic shape at the weigh-in. I'd say both guys look very fit, very ready.
09:15 Yeah, and coming back down from 140, still looking for maybe the lax energy.
09:20 But no, Lippinett's good energy for, despite a guy who's coming back down in weight in his mid-30s.
09:25 Good right hand over the top. Davies is found a home for that. Multiple times in the last...
09:31 Ooh, good uppercut on the inside from Davies.
09:33 You see the follow-up is from Lippinett, and that's the thing. Davies is not able to create work off of his work.
09:40 It's just touch and go. You gotta use some of those shots that you land to hold that ground at times,
09:47 to control that real estate. Davies is not able to do that.
09:51 Lippinett's very good at making the ring small.
09:54 Yes, great point, Jimmy. Also picking his shots well, going high, low, mixing up the punch variation very, very well here.
10:01 See that? See it there. Changes level, looked low, punched high, threw the jab up top. Davies didn't see that coming, split the guard.
10:07 Lippinett's for Mikey Garcia, Lamont Peterson, Hoots, Ennis.
10:11 His first 20 fights, I could not believe the names I was reading discussing his...
10:16 Omar Figueroa.
10:17 Omar Figueroa as well.
10:18 He stopped Peterson. I think that was his first retirement.
10:21 He stopped Figueroa too.
10:22 I think so, I think you're right. He pretty much retired both those guys.
10:26 Good body shot there, Mike. That looked like he was going upstairs and he stabbed it that low.
10:38 He adjusted, because Davies was coming with a right hand up top, so Lippinett's got underneath.
10:43 Yeah, that's a very good awareness from Lippinett.
10:45 Are you surprised, gentlemen, to not see Davies Jr. a little busier with the jabs?
10:49 You know he's not a footwork guy. He's not going to keep you away by out-circling you.
10:52 He's got to keep you with the jab. He's not throwing you there.
10:54 I would agree, but Lippinett's doing a really good job of using his own jab.
10:57 He's very deceptive with his movement in and out. His in and out is changing of levels.
11:02 He's not an easy guy to jab.
11:04 I think we got a cut in the scalp of Lippinett. He's got blood high on the head.
11:09 Oh, good left hook. That hurt him.
11:11 That hurt Lippinett.
11:12 He's trying to finish. Only seconds left in the round.
11:16 Oh, rock him again.
11:17 He's hurt.
11:18 Oh, good fight.
11:20 Lippinett's in hold.
11:21 He will make it out of the round.
11:23 Heavy feet. Very hurt.
11:24 Lippinett should have held there. He's got to hold.
11:27 All I need is you all to throw those fucking power jabs.
11:40 Oh, good.
11:41 What a difference a punch can make.
12:01 First three rounds controlled by Lippinett, and then we get this.
12:05 I said it was a home for the chopper in my hand, but there was the left hook on the jawline of Lippinett there.
12:11 It was another right hand that had him in more trouble.
12:14 There were nice body shots in there as well.
12:16 Great follow-up. You mentioned that earlier, Chip, that he wasn't following up properly.
12:19 That time he did. Good adjustment from Davies.
12:21 Let's see if Lippinett has time to recover.
12:24 Chris, you pointed out, as he was walking to his corner, he was looking at his feet.
12:28 He was looking at luck he was the end of the round.
12:31 He also didn't hold, so he was not going to make it through the round if it was not the end of the round.
12:36 Chip, you brought up a great point.
12:38 You said during our interview with Davies that this fight reminded you of the end of your career.
12:43 When you got into a tough fight, if you still wanted to be there or not.
12:46 Let's see if Lippinett wants to dig deep.
12:48 Ironically enough, in that fight with Egerton, Egerton was also saved by the bell a couple of rounds before I got stopped.
12:55 And it was also right at the end of the round, also because he didn't hold.
13:00 So far no holding from Lippinett.
13:02 He wants to fight, although Davies is landing some good punches to start this round.
13:06 Davies has got to have some confidence now.
13:08 He's having trouble getting respect from Sergey Lippinett.
13:10 He's got to have it now.
13:12 He had him rock badly at the end of the last round.
13:14 There's that right hand again.
13:16 Good left.
13:19 I don't know if Lippinett is fully recovered.
13:22 That's what I'm saying. I don't know if he's fully recovered.
13:24 And the confidence of Davies has grown now.
13:27 He's being much more aggressive.
13:30 Yeah, more aggressive, but also being really smart and efficient with his shots.
13:33 He sees that he's got a man in front of him who's hurt.
13:36 He's picking his punches really well. He's moving nicely now.
13:39 The confidence is back from Davies.
13:41 Seems like a fighter from the UK has got a new breath of life at the end of round number three.
13:50 Lippinett is a former world champion. He has experience. He needs it now.
13:54 Oddly enough, breaking your ankle might have actually made Davies a better mover in the ring.
14:00 I haven't seen him to be able to circle this smoothly before in past fights.
14:03 He said he was running marathons to make sure his ankle was good.
14:06 Ultra marathons, 50 miles.
14:08 Oh man, good work. Nice body shot there.
14:12 Good turn off the ropes as well for Davies.
14:14 Yeah, I mean, you can see Sergey Lippinett.
14:18 He's got those heavy feet just plodding.
14:21 Doesn't have his balance.
14:24 Gentlemen, this is why we were looking forward to this fight so much.
14:27 That high level chest match. Back and forth.
14:31 If Davies can be smart and not take any big shots, he's in a really good place.
14:37 I don't know if Sergey's going to be able to recover.
14:39 Another left hook.
14:42 Good right hand. That hurt him again too.
14:45 More time left. 35 seconds left to go in round number four.
14:52 Lippinett's not holding again.
14:53 They've got to tell him in the corner if he gets hurt, he's got to hold.
14:55 He's looking for redemption tonight.
14:58 Savvy Davies Jr., can he find it?
15:01 Samurais don't hold.
15:02 Yeah, well, they get knocked out if they don't.
15:05 Samurais don't hold.
15:06 Sharp counter there by Davies. What a sharp shot.
15:09 He's still thinking in there, both on defense and offense.
15:11 Good smooth transition.
15:13 Short, crisp punches.
15:16 Lippinett's not able to see him, but still coming forward.
15:19 Lippinett's tough as nails, still trying to throw bombs.
15:22 Man, he is stumbling to his corner.
15:26 They've got to rejuvenate him in the corner.
15:30 They've got to get some ice and some water on him.
15:32 They've got to wake him up.
15:33 I remember fondly about my cutman Danny Milano, one of the best.
15:40 He would be pulling my hair, pulling my ears, smacking me and throwing ice water on me.
15:45 He would make sure I was woke up if I was hurt.
15:47 And this is why Lippinett needs it.
15:49 Look at that beautiful left hand.
15:51 That was the start of the sequence.
15:54 Another left hook that stumbles Lippinett.
15:57 He's not seeing that hook.
15:58 There it is again.
15:59 You see that shot and it stumbles him.
16:01 There's something you have to explain if you haven't seen it and you're not aware of it.
16:07 Folks, when a fighter really gets rocked and probably concussed,
16:11 they're making a new game plan every 10 seconds, right?
16:13 They have that look in their eyes like, "Okay."
16:15 They can't really build on what they're doing.
16:17 There's a little bit of that shell-shocked look in Lippinett's face.
16:20 He's trying to come up with a new game plan.
16:22 And they didn't help him in the corner, honestly.
16:23 You've got to throw ice water on his head.
16:25 You've got to do a better job to wake him up than that.
16:27 They were like in an IBM meeting in that corner.
16:30 They were like, "If nothing happened, can I date myself there at IBM?"
16:34 But also, they might sell a little bit more too.
16:37 You hate to say it, but the little stalls, right?
16:39 Take a little time to get the stool out.
16:41 We've seen it a million times. That's what veteran corners do.
16:45 Give your guy another couple seconds.
16:47 Lippinett looks like he's walking around like a zombie.
16:49 He's very, very heavy on his feet. His coordination is all off.
16:53 And on the other side, Davies has turned this fight around for himself.
16:56 Two very, very--two back-to-back very good rounds where he had Lippinett's hurt.
17:00 Confidence is back. He's got a little spring in his step.
17:04 As he's punching off it.
17:06 He's got a guy who's compromised and doesn't see the punches coming.
17:10 In short, veteran stuff. Veteran adjustments.
17:13 And he takes his shots better than Lippinett.
17:15 Lippinett lands, but he doesn't get the same reaction from Davies as Davies did from Lippinett.
17:19 Davies said in his last fight that he messed up his weight cut.
17:23 That's why he wasn't taking the punch as well.
17:25 And that he's much more durable now. I think we're seeing that.
17:28 Due to his samurai nickname, Lippinett's got a fire back in everything he has.
17:36 He has the power to get back in this.
17:38 Paulie, we've been talking about this fight for weeks, how excited we were.
17:41 I love when they live up to it.
17:43 Here they tend to do it a lot.
17:45 Not letting us down.
17:47 Betraying--Davies' nose is once again bleeding.
17:50 Sergey Lippinett's landing a big left hook there.
17:53 He's got Davies on his bike now a little bit.
17:55 This thing's going back and forth with the momentum here.
17:58 Oh, another good uppercut by Lippinett.
18:00 Blood all over the face of Davies.
18:03 Davies is hurt. Davies is hurt. That nose is bad.
18:06 Lost his footwork for just a second.
18:09 Good overhead by Lippinett. He is down.
18:13 What a fight. What a fight.
18:15 That nose is gushing blood.
18:17 You see Davies shaking his head, "No, this might be it."
18:20 You talk about will.
18:22 A fighter from the UK, a shattered nose, can he continue and he will.
18:27 Davies needs to land something big here, get some respect.
18:33 But he is running.
18:35 Davies has to have that self-belief that he has hurt Lippinett in this fight.
18:38 He needs to come up with something right now.
18:40 Now Lippinett has gotten back. Back to confidence, guys.
18:44 He's letting Lippinett work with too much.
18:46 He's got to get some respect. He's got to throw something.
18:49 Oh, good hard jab.
18:51 The last 30 seconds of this round, number 5, halfway through the fight.
18:55 We spoke about how tough Lippinett has been in his career.
18:59 He's been there before. He knows what it's like to be hurt.
19:04 He's landed a sharp counter right here a few seconds ago.
19:06 Oh, good jab. That's Brock slipping his back.
19:09 We knew Lippinett had the power to come back in this fight.
19:12 He just showed it. Beautiful.
19:14 That was a tuck. That was right in the nose of Davies.
19:16 That damaged nose. Took it well, though.
19:19 Wow.
19:32 It's going to be the right hand.
19:34 Listen, you've recovered, haven't you?
19:36 I know he's done your nose, right?
19:38 But listen. Listen to me.
19:40 Listen to me, Robert. You've got your feet back, haven't you?
19:43 Yeah? Listen.
19:45 Robert, he's tired. He's tired. He's hurt.
19:49 He's tired and he's hurt. I know you're hurt there.
19:51 But listen. Let's be disciplined.
19:53 Not saying we're going to take stupid shots.
19:55 But let's... Listen.
19:57 The right hand.
19:59 That's how a nose is supposed to look.
20:02 Lippinett's using his power to get back in this fight.
20:04 Beautiful shot right to the nose there.
20:06 What a round. Back and forth.
20:08 Lippinett looks like he was on his last legs and lands some big shots.
20:10 Has Davy in a world of trouble. Breaks the nose.
20:12 Puts him down. Blood gushing from the nose.
20:14 And Davy's coming back at the end of the round.
20:16 Yeah. The thing is, you've got to worry about Lippinett.
20:18 You've got to wonder about Lippinett, too.
20:20 He had a long career. Kickboxing, boxing.
20:22 He does show the susceptibilities of a fighter who's taken a bit too many punches.
20:26 Some shots that hurt him. Just random jabs that are hurting him.
20:30 Yeah. They didn't look that super clean.
20:32 Not in a way that he hasn't been hit with before.
20:34 But he mentioned how many fights he's had.
20:36 But also, coming back down in weight at a late age is tough.
20:39 That can sap your chin as well.
20:42 It just makes you worry if he does win this fight if he continues.
20:46 Right. Right.
20:48 Beautiful uppercut.
20:50 Each shot, that hook has been very accurate.
20:54 Davy's Jr. there right in front of us.
20:57 That nose is leaking once again.
21:00 I think Lippinett's smelling blood here.
21:03 This is going to be an expensive dry cleaning bill for everybody sitting to ringside.
21:08 It's a business expense for us.
21:11 Blood all over the gloves of Lippinett.
21:14 He's taken on a fighter who can't take a full breath through the nose for sure.
21:17 Davy's is fighting back.
21:19 Lippinett's trying to put that last aggression, trying to get the stoppage.
21:24 Of course, now that both guys have that self-belief because they both hurt each other.
21:27 They know they can.
21:29 We often use the term "blooding guts war."
21:33 This is literally a blooding guts war.
21:35 This is a candidate of a fighter of the year already.
21:37 Incredible stuff.
21:40 Lippinett would have been gone at the end of one of these rounds a few rounds ago.
21:44 If it wasn't so close at the end of the round, he would have been gone.
21:47 Then he got hurt again the round after.
21:49 Somebody's mouthpiece is out.
21:51 Mouthpiece is out.
21:52 No, ref said go on. You can't stop the fight.
21:54 Oh, good hard overhand chopping shot hurts Davy's again.
21:58 Wow, Davy's, man, super tough.
22:00 Now it's Davy's that should be the one holding on.
22:02 Especially if he has no mouthpiece.
22:04 He should be looking for the lull in the action. He finally gets it.
22:06 Neither one of these guys know how to hold on. They're absolute warriors.
22:09 With the respect, touching gloves.
22:12 They're about to resume their war.
22:14 How much of that is warrior? How much of that is lack of understanding in the moment of what to do?
22:19 Yeah.
22:20 Oh, that nose again. That stiff hard jab right to the beak.
22:27 That damaged nose of Davy's.
22:29 Lippinett's dialed in here.
22:31 Lippinett was a zombie two rounds ago.
22:34 But as soon as he saw that shattered nose, it's like...
22:37 And likewise for Davy's. First couple of rounds, he just looked like he was walking in quicksand.
22:42 Couldn't get away from Lippinett.
22:44 So all of a sudden, he rocked Lippinett.
22:46 And he found that pep in his step for a couple of rounds.
22:48 Both these guys are spurring each other on by hurting the opponent.
22:51 Oh, good little up jab and a right hand from Davy's.
22:54 And because both guys are hurting each other,
22:56 there's going to be a little bit more self-belief that they can get through the rough patch in the fight.
23:00 Davy's is not going anywhere.
23:02 Nice little uppercut from Davy's on Lippinett there.
23:05 And gentlemen, think about the flip side. The respect.
23:07 Man, this guy hurt me before. I don't want to over-pursue.
23:09 Don't want to walk into another big shot.
23:11 Incredible back and forth fight.
23:15 Both these guys, man. I mean, just going for it.
23:19 Leaving everything on the line.
23:21 Both a little fatigued here, it looks.
23:30 You can't imagine why, with the pace they've had throughout this fight.
23:34 And it's strange. These guys go back and forth, showing durability and weakness.
23:39 [applause]
23:42 They say it all the time about Ali Frazier, that they were at the perfect time for that third fight to have a great fight.
23:51 The faster Ali gets away from Frazier, the stronger Frazier knocks out Ali.
23:55 I've heard that a million times.
23:57 It devastates you, though, man.
23:59 And honestly, they fought when they were young, too, in '71.
24:01 It wasn't easy for that one, for that one either.
24:04 Seeing a little bit of that here, Chris.
24:09 The strengths and the weaknesses of both guys are on display.
24:12 Yeah, I mean, sometimes you see them land a big shot, and the other guy takes it and walks through it.
24:16 Another guy lands a shot that doesn't look that hard, and he's wobbled.
24:19 And it looks like he's on his last leg.
24:21 It's wild the way these guys are able to hurt each other, but also at the same time show their ability and strength.
24:27 Said it before the fight, I will say it again, this is a must-win fight for both of these fighters.
24:34 And both of them are fighting that way.
24:36 Yeah.
24:38 Took the words right out of my mouth.
24:40 Klippenjitz is covered in blood all over his back.
24:42 They both are.
24:45 Round seven of ten.
24:48 Davis Jr. in the white, red, and gold.
24:50 Klippenjitz in the black and gold.
24:53 Oh, it's going to be a very interesting fight to score.
24:56 I forgot that we're judging these.
24:59 I feel like Klippenjitz has won a lot of the rounds.
25:02 I feel like the two rounds where Klippenjitz got hurt were big, were Davis' rounds.
25:07 But once Klippenjitz came back and busted Davis' nose again, it seems like he's been putting the pressure and had the activity more so than Davis.
25:14 And also I feel like Klippenjitz won the early rounds.
25:16 So I think Klippenjitz may be, I wouldn't say comfortably ahead, but definitely definitively ahead in this fight so far.
25:22 He has the one knockdown of the fight.
25:24 And he also seems like the one who's not taking the punches as well.
25:26 Yes, and that's the drama here.
25:28 The drama is he could get knocked out.
25:31 Because he's been hurt badly in this fight.
25:33 I mean, at the end of that round, if he didn't have the, if it was the middle of the round, he'd be gone already.
25:37 Klippenjitz, a former world champion at 140 pounds.
25:46 Davis Jr., former Commonwealth, British champion, European champion.
25:53 The guys have seen it all in the ring.
25:55 And they're giving it a big hook.
25:57 Klippenjitz.
25:58 But that's what I mean.
25:59 That was a huge shot.
26:00 And Davis took it well.
26:01 He got hurt with lesser punches earlier.
26:03 Man, Sergei is really looking for that home run shot.
26:10 And then he gets rocked by a jab.
26:12 Russian fighter.
26:13 Beautiful combination.
26:15 Davis took that well.
26:17 Russian fighter's got a new lease on life after shattering the nose of Davis Jr.
26:22 Do us a favor, guys.
26:25 Stay away from the booth.
26:27 We're shooting blood all over the place.
26:29 We are getting sprayed with blood.
26:31 That is an occupational hazard here at ringside.
26:34 To me, it's worth it for a fight like this.
26:36 You can always get dry cleaned.
26:38 I'm going to start buying cheaper suits.
26:44 Never, Chris.
26:45 I don't believe that for a second.
26:47 I've been surprised that you came out of a melt.
26:49 Chris, the fashion plate of our group.
26:55 We all appreciate it.
26:56 Trying to keep up with Marquez over there.
26:59 On my wall, he's looking sharp.
27:00 Don't even try.
27:01 Davis is now landing shots.
27:03 And you can look at him.
27:04 He was a landing shot to catch a break and get out.
27:06 He's got to follow up when he lands a good shot.
27:08 He cannot afford to just try to be touching and going.
27:11 Because Klippenjitz is now taking back control of this fight.
27:13 And Davis has to do something to try to regain that control.
27:16 Good shot there by Klippenjitz.
27:18 I haven't seen a lot of power parked in Klippenjitz.
27:20 It seems like the desire to win the fight is a little bit in the corner of Klippenjitz.
27:25 It seems like he may want it a little more.
27:27 Because it's becoming a battle of aggression and a battle of intention and attrition.
27:32 But again, like you said, the drama is there.
27:37 Because it seems like any big shot from Davis can have Klippenjitz hurt.
27:40 [Applause]
27:43 Hello, hello. How are you?
27:50 Listen, yeah?
27:52 Okay, listen. He's almost, almost ready to go.
27:55 Listen, I promise you.
27:57 [Applause]
28:00 I don't want to see your chin. I just want a sharp two.
28:07 A sharp two's what I'm going to do.
28:09 Okay? Robert, I promise you, yeah?
28:12 As we try to clean up ringside, we are covered in blood.
28:15 And that's why most of it from the nose there.
28:18 Of Robbie Davis Jr.
28:22 He's been managing it well.
28:25 But his opponents, again, Klippenjitz has been aggressive for the last few rounds.
28:31 After knocking him down.
28:33 Seems like that reinvigorated Klippenjitz who rocked at the end of round three.
28:38 Rocked at the end of round four.
28:40 It's been drama from the beginning.
28:42 I thought he was going to meet a drag queen and he's the referee.
28:45 Wearing his shirt.
28:47 That's not accurate anymore, by the way.
28:49 Davis Jr., red, white, and gold trunks.
28:52 They are just red and gold at the moment.
28:55 Klippenjitz in the black and gold.
28:57 Two fighters who talked about not being able to lose this fight.
29:03 Davis looks like he got some good advice in the corner.
29:06 He's coming out a little more authoritative.
29:08 Lending a good right hand.
29:10 Straight right hand from Klippenjitz.
29:13 Right in my face. Nice.
29:16 The price you pay sitting ringside in a fight like this.
29:21 Couldn't be closer to the action.
29:23 Wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world right now, guys.
29:25 This is a great fight.
29:27 Big body shot.
29:29 Down goes Davis Jr.
29:32 We talked about him, Trish.
29:34 He has the will to get up.
29:38 To his feet.
29:40 Absolute warrior.
29:42 Let's see if Sergey can finish this up.
29:44 Can't question the heart.
29:46 Davis gets on his bicycle.
29:48 The fighter from Liverpool, but can he get back into this?
29:50 He is on his bike, trying to get some space.
29:53 Klippenjitz won't allow a second knockdown.
29:55 Another body shot.
29:57 Looks to his corner for advice.
29:59 Anthony Perla, great coach.
30:03 Still half around the goal, guys.
30:05 A lot of time left. 90 seconds here.
30:07 That might look to put this one away.
30:10 That second knockdown might have been him still recovering from the body shot.
30:13 Let's see.
30:15 Good call, champ.
30:17 He did get hit with another body shot, but it seemed like he got up much quicker the second time than the first.
30:21 He was up at three. It was almost like he took a knee.
30:24 Body shot again.
30:26 He's not punching back, though. He's got to hold.
30:28 He's got to punch back or hold.
30:30 He's just trying to protect that rib cage.
30:32 Getting very close.
30:34 I mean, he's got body shots. He's bleeding from the nose.
30:36 He's been in a war zone.
30:39 Big shot.
30:40 Klippenjitz.
30:42 Klippenjitz's eyes went up in his head with that shot.
30:48 Back to the body, but unbelievable.
30:51 Davies Jr. still firing back.
30:53 You can see in Davies' eyes. He's very focused here.
30:56 Fighting for his life.
31:01 Got some respect from Klippenjitz. He's got to pick his spots now.
31:04 He knows he cannot come in reckless.
31:09 Oh, my God!
31:11 Klippenjitz gets rocked!
31:13 Knees just buckled. 25 seconds left to go in round number eight.
31:19 Can you believe this fight?
31:22 Oh, my God.
31:25 Davies Jr. has his man hurt. Can he finish him? 10 seconds left in the round.
31:31 God.
31:33 Looking for the bell.
31:35 If we get a better fight for this than fight of the year, this is a fantastic year.
31:39 End of the round.
31:41 Klippenjitz loses his footing.
31:44 He slipped on some blood.
31:46 I mean, there's blood all over the ring.
31:48 Forget what it was. Blood all over the ring.
31:53 Like, literally all over the ring.
31:55 Smeared blood. They got to get towels on this mat.
31:58 All over us.
32:00 Gentlemen, absolutely unbelievable round.
32:03 I mean, looks--
32:04 All over the rest of--
32:05 Davies goes down twice from body shots.
32:08 Looks like he might have taken a full 10 count on the first one.
32:10 Gets up at the very last second.
32:12 Goes down again, which to your two-point chance, that was probably what saved him.
32:15 He goes down again from another little body shot here.
32:18 Comes up quick, more recovered.
32:20 Circle, circle, circle. Gets on his bike.
32:22 And then rocks Sergey Lipinets there.
32:25 Hits him with a good up jab.
32:26 But later in the round, it was a left hook, which has been the problem for Sergey all night long.
32:31 Tries to finish him up, but Sergey survives.
32:35 Unbelievable back and forth work.
32:39 And Davies Jr. hopped out of his stool, ready to go.
32:47 Unbelievable performance so far from both of these fighters.
32:50 Round number nine.
32:53 This is-- I mean, in terms of scoring, yeah, Lipinets is way ahead.
32:57 But this is any man's fight at this point.
32:59 Yeah, this fight can end at any point here.
33:01 But Davies Jr. has to know, look, the decision's out of reach here.
33:04 It's, you know, two knockdowns in the last round.
33:07 That makes three overall.
33:08 He's not going to win a decision.
33:10 Got to get back into it with a knockout. That's it.
33:12 And as much as a decision is out of reach, a KO win is within reach for Robby.
33:16 It's right there.
33:17 For Robby, excuse me.
33:20 I don't know if Sergey has any other type of fight in him, though.
33:23 He's got to be in the pocket and trading, and that's very dangerous for him.
33:28 Davies is holding his ground now.
33:30 What do you do if you're Sergey? Do you continue to stalk, or do you try to coast to the end?
33:34 That's my point. I don't think he knows how to coast.
33:37 And he's getting hurt by Robby anyway.
33:41 As we say, a lot of fighters will go, "Hey, this one's in the bag."
33:44 As a decision goes, angle, move, don't make a big mistake.
33:48 That is not how lipid hits fight.
33:50 To your point, Chair.
33:51 Oh, good uppercut penetrates the guard there.
33:54 And of course with a busted nose, that's going to have more effect.
33:57 Good body shot there by Sergey as well, guys.
33:59 I mean, what is Robby Davies made of, man?
34:02 That kid's got more heart in his chest than three men.
34:07 That was the question going in with two fighters with their experience.
34:11 Want to go ten grueling rounds. They answered that about five rounds ago.
34:16 I mean, we talked about how this was a last chance effort for both these guys,
34:19 and they are giving that type of effort.
34:22 They're fighting like their careers and their lives are on the line.
34:26 Honestly, Sergey has tried to coast a little bit this round, it seems like.
34:35 He's actually blocking punches rather than--oh, my goodness!
34:38 What a shot!
34:40 After a shot splits the guard.
34:44 Davies' chin has gotten better.
34:47 That hook a few rounds ago was hurting Lipinets.
34:49 Took that one much better.
34:52 Whoever wins this fight--actually, they both are going to get the Iron Man award after this one.
35:06 Robby's spitting up blood out of his nose as he's in that clench.
35:11 That's the thing. When you've got a nosebleed that bad, it's draining down the back of your throat.
35:15 It's not just coming out the front.
35:18 Lipinets on the outside, but still throwing power punches.
35:26 Who knew we'd still be here going into round five?
35:28 No, no way. No chance I thought this fight would make it this far.
35:31 Badly rocked at the end of round three. Badly rocked.
35:36 Davies has been down three times.
35:39 Down to the head, went a broken nose, into the body twice.
35:42 One more to go, gentlemen. One more to go.
35:44 And yet here we are, about to go into the last round.
35:46 What a fight.
35:47 I'm going to be exhausted after this fight.
35:49 Imagine what they did. Imagine them.
35:51 Yeah, exactly.
35:53 Everybody here at the Pro Box Event Center on the edge of their seats for round ten.
36:00 For a fight we've been looking forward to for months.
36:03 How could it deliver? Well, it has.
36:06 Above and beyond high expectations, and it's even higher.
36:10 Nothing's here. Strange shots, funny shots.
36:16 Fight, save the jaw, move your head.
36:20 You understand me? Last round.
36:22 Everything you have, you lose nothing.
36:25 You fight like a moth fire.
36:27 From Zang, come out.
36:30 Everything you have, gentlemen.
36:34 He's gone so far.
36:36 Everything that's left.
36:38 I don't know, man.
36:39 Is that good advice? When he has it sold out on the cards.
36:41 Has a little bit of a doobah and bent it in the corner of Meldrick Taylor against Chavez.
36:46 I don't know, man.
36:47 Sometimes you've got to know how much your fighter has left, too.
36:50 Especially if the fight's in the bag.
36:52 The surrogate just came out with a big leaping left hook, missed.
36:54 Davies countered. I think he should be more conservative this round.
36:59 He's got it. He's ahead.
37:01 He scored the knockdowns. He's been setting up the punches better.
37:04 He's been hurt multiple times. Let's not forget that.
37:07 He gets hurt in exchanges.
37:09 When he's jabbing and moving his head like that, those are the punches.
37:14 When he misses those big sweeping shots, Davies has been laser quick with the right hands.
37:19 And even the hooks. Sneaky hooks in there.
37:22 Very sneaky. Very sneaky.
37:24 And if anybody remembers those instructions of little doobah and Georgie Benton
37:27 in the Meldrick Taylor-Chavez fight of 1990, for me they caused Meldrick to fight.
37:32 Caused him to fight.
37:33 Caused his career.
37:35 Davies Jr. has to knock Lippin' Yetz out.
37:40 He's been down three times in this fight.
37:42 And as great as a job he's done in the corner, every round with that badly damaged nose,
37:46 it's less than a minute in and that thing starts gushing again
37:50 because Sergey keeps landing jabs on him.
37:52 Big left hook.
37:54 I'm going to show you the hunger of Sergey though.
37:57 You tell him he needs it, he's fighting like he needs it.
38:00 Even though he doesn't need it. He needs to just get through the round.
38:04 But in his mind, if you told him he needs it, look how hard he's fighting.
38:08 This is directly from the heart, from his inner desire is to really, really get through this fight
38:15 and get a bigger fight after this.
38:17 This has been hitting since the opening bell.
38:20 Big heart from both guys though.
38:21 We talked about the big heart from Davies getting up off the canvas, rocking Lippin' Yetz himself.
38:27 Oh, good body shot.
38:29 Lippin' Yetz has a pitfall.
38:31 He doesn't know any other way.
38:33 I think Davies felt that body shot a few seconds ago.
38:36 Might be in a half a recovery mode from that body shot.
38:39 He's going straight back. Not a lot of movement.
38:41 This has been a very good, strong round for Lippin' Yetz.
38:44 But Davies, man, showing great legs. He's moving.
38:47 That marathon running is certainly paying off here.
38:49 Yeah, but he's not staying active.
38:51 Again, I think that body shot hurt him.
38:52 He's still in recovery mode.
38:53 But he's still in danger. This is when he's been able to rock.
38:56 Oh, good body shot again.
38:57 Stop, stop. No punching, no punching.
38:59 The question is how much will Lippin' Yetz put into this last 40 seconds to get the finish
39:04 over Robbie Davies Jr., who has been a fight of the year candidate for sure.
39:11 Even this last round has been fought at a high pace.
39:14 These guys are absolutely in amazing condition, both of them.
39:24 40 seconds left in a fight. Robbie Davies said, "I can't afford to lose."
39:29 I don't think Davies has nothing left.
39:31 He's just trying to make it to the end at this point.
39:34 Lippin' Yetz has been a warrior tonight.
39:38 This power was the difference throughout this fight.
39:41 We will see the final bell, despite anything we would have thought at the end of round three.
39:48 I mean, what a fight.
39:50 This is a standing ovation type fight. Oh, my goodness.
39:58 Both these gentlemen gave everything tonight.
40:01 Wow.
40:04 Shattered nose, down three times.
40:07 Robbie Davies Jr., Sergey Lippin' Yetz, locked multiple times.
40:12 Out on his feet at least twice.
40:15 At least once, yeah. I would say two or three times.
40:18 As you said, Paul, his eyes were in the back of his brain.
40:20 He was seeing what he was thinking.
40:22 Sometimes when that jab, just on the jabs that were landing, Sergey's head would roll up.
40:26 Sergey's eyes would roll up into his head just on the jabs.
40:30 That just kind of worries you going forward for Sergey.
40:34 Has he been in too many tough fights?
40:36 What's the price you're willing to pay for these big paydays going forward?
40:42 But after a fight like tonight--
40:44 Because you want to see him again.
40:46 He entertained the crowd.
40:48 Do you want to see him in a step-up fight after he's been hurt twice in a fight like this?
40:52 With five punches that really weren't--
40:54 Nobody wins a fight in Pro Box and ends their career, unfortunately.
40:58 That's the problem.
41:00 I mean, this fight--
41:02 Just watch.
41:04 Incredible back-and-forth action.
41:06 Sergey was showing his class early on and looked like he was getting into cruise control.
41:10 And then, bang, that left hook catches him.
41:12 And Sergey's legs get heavy and wobbly.
41:14 Davies foggles up, has him hurt very, very badly at the end of round three.
41:19 Yeah, and both of these guys really can hold their heads high after tonight's fight.
41:24 I can say both men get the Ironman Award tonight.
41:27 Gentlemen, I'm very, very curious.
41:29 Is it a matter of if he had hurt him earlier in the round, in both instances, was this fight over?
41:33 With the unfortunate timing of hurting him later.
41:36 But listen, this fight could have ended multiple times in both directions.
41:39 Many different points, various points throughout.
41:41 I mean, they both showed a tremendous amount of heart.
41:44 I mean, I don't believe in luck.
41:46 I don't really believe in fate.
