00:00 So Meanwood's been named one of the top 10 coolest places to live in Britain by the Telegraph.
00:06 What is it that you like about Meanwood?
00:08 I love the park. It's very nice to be able to walk through the park and through the woods very easily, just on your doorstep.
00:16 Get a nice coffee beforehand.
00:18 Yeah, it makes you feel like you're not right in the middle of a big city.
00:20 It's really nice.
00:21 There's like Terminus and Alfred over there and opposite, a coffee shop just opened.
00:25 Yeah, and Humble's nice as well.
00:27 And Humble's nice.
00:29 Were you surprised to hear that it's been included in the top 10 coolest places to live?
00:33 Yes.
00:34 Different reactions.
00:38 Yeah, it's cute. It's nice. I'm glad we've got it.
00:41 But there's a lot of places in the UK.
00:44 You don't look like Meanwood though, do you?
00:46 Maybe don't use that bit.
00:48 What do you like about living in Meanwood? What does Meanwood have to offer?
00:51 It's got everything, everything you need.
00:53 It's got great independence, it's got great restaurants, bars, the people are so welcoming and friendly, down to earth.
01:00 The green space we've just got down there in Meanwood Park.
01:03 The proximity to Leeds city centre itself, what a mile away of the road.
01:08 So yeah, for me, it's got everything you can need.
01:11 The Telegraph has named Meanwood as one of the 10 coolest places to live in Britain.
01:15 What are your thoughts about that and what do you like about Meanwood?
01:19 I like the park, the green spaces, but so many people have discovered it.
01:24 There are far too many dogs.
01:27 I really like some of the cafes.
01:30 I really like independent shops like Tandem is absolutely brilliant because they do their refills there as well.
01:36 Zuko's is amazing.
01:39 Waitrose is, I mean, this is all linked to Waitrose effect, I'm sure.
01:42 Really? So when did Waitrose come to Meanwood?
01:45 About 11 years ago.
01:46 And the town saw a bit of a regeneration, did it, with new independent shops and things?
01:50 More people come, but so many people drive and they don't really know what else is going on in Meanwood.
01:56 The junction's going to be very interesting to see what happens to traffic then.
02:00 I don't know if you've managed to go and have a look at the chaos that it is at the moment.
02:04 They're sure it's going to be alright, but I have my doubts.
02:08 So Meanwood has been named by the Telegraph as one of the top 10 coolest neighbourhoods to live in in Britain.
02:15 Why do you think that is? Is there anything in Meanwood that people are particularly attracted to?
02:20 It's hard to see things as cool when you're here all the time and start to take a step back, but it's a great place to be.
02:27 I think it's kind of cocooned by loads of lovely green space and woodland.
02:33 It's kind of like a little mini village, but it's a stone's throw from the city centre.
02:39 There's a lovely variety of people that live there, certainly come in here.
02:44 I think it's still a very nice place to be, but it's not pretentious.
02:48 It's quite modest in its goodness, if that is a word.
