Dangerous cyclists could face tougher sentences, similar to those imposed on drivers, under new proposals. Motorists can face a life sentence if they’re convicted of causing death by dangerous or reckless driving. A current loophole allows a cyclist to be jailed for a maximum of two years for “wanton and furious driving.” Parliament will debate on Wednesday whether to make amendments to the Criminal Justice Bill to clamp down on rogue cyclists. 01:40 over the last nearly two years now,
01:42 and naively, maybe I thought that because my mom had been
01:46 killed on the road, there'd be some sort of even a court
01:49 appearance.
01:50 But I think if a law is in place,
01:52 then at least it gets you to that point of going to court
01:56 to get some sort of justice and accountability.

02:10 If it's reckless, if it's furious,
02:12 driving I think is the term, then you can be prosecuted.
