00:01 College Sports Minute from a business perspective.
00:04 How about Cal?
00:06 How about UCLA?
00:07 Well, clearly UCLA looks like they're the winner,
00:11 getting $60 million of annual distribution
00:15 from their deal with the Big Ten starting this next year.
00:20 The ACC, not as kind to California,
00:23 they get $11 million.
00:25 There is a disparity.
00:26 What is the California Board of Regents looking to do?
00:30 They may require/cajole UCLA into supplementing
00:35 the California athletic budget to the tune of $10 million
00:40 yearly over a period of at least 10 years.
00:42 Part of it compensation, part of it symmetry, part of it
00:46 fairness, part of it leverage.
00:49 But the bottom line is, as Cal looks
00:51 to supplement its athletic budget,
00:54 they may turn to their brethren through the state school system
00:57 to make them whole.
00:59 Interesting twist.
