00:00 VAR has been a huge point of discussion in the Premier League since its inception in
00:07 2019, but now could it be said to be scrapped?
00:10 Wolves have tabled a motion outlining several reasons why they think the technology should
00:14 be removed from the competition, including taking away the spontaneity of celebrations
00:19 and promoting less stringent officiating because of the VAR safety net.
00:24 Premier League clubs will now vote on whether to scrap the technology at a meeting on the
00:28 6th of June, with 14 out of the 20 clubs needed to vote in favour of its removal for it to
00:33 be taken away.
00:34 This is unlikely, but reports indicate that many feel wholesale improvements are needed.
00:40 Premier League clubs voted unanimously to bring in semi-automated offsides from next
00:44 season onwards, showing that there is an approval of technology in the game in some regard.
00:49 VAR will likely continue to make headlines in the meantime, but how it will look next
00:54 season is very much up for debate.
