00:00 AI has captured a lot of global attention in recent years and tech industry leaders
00:05 say we`re now entering a new era.
00:08 2024 has been dubbed the first chapter of the AIPC.
00:11 That`s the Artificially Intelligent Personal Computer.
00:15 And hundreds of people have flocked to this Taipei forum to learn more about it, from
00:20 executives, the likes of Intel, Google and top Taiwanese brands, Acer and Asus.
00:25 There`s still no exact definition of what an AIPC is, but it can be thought of as a
00:31 sort of enhanced computer with AI embedded directly in it.
00:35 What that means is users will no longer have to run AI from the cloud, but can do so locally
00:41 on their personal computers.
00:43 The industry leaders say that if consumers know that their data won`t leave their device,
00:48 this opens up a whole new host of opportunities.
00:51 For example, in business productivity, users can input internal company information and
00:57 have AI draft reports and create presentations.
01:00 Now, some executives do acknowledge that this tech is relatively young, and so, concerns
01:07 like data breaches won`t fully disappear.
01:09 "I think this part requires a process of promotion and education.
01:15 So, I think we need to make a lot of efforts in the development of AIPC."
01:24 Firms across the trade from AI chips to hardware and software are racing to come out with their
01:29 own tech for an AI-enhanced personal computer.
01:33 And as a hub for advanced chips and electronics, leaders say Taiwan will have a central role
01:38 to play in the AIPC wave.
