00:46 work, his loved ones, and his legacy eternally." Dabney was born in Austin in
00:51 1932, serving in the US Army and studying law at the University of Texas before
00:57 starting his acting career. His big breakout role came in 1976 when he was
01:02 cast in the satirical soap opera Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. Later calling the
01:07 role in a 2012 interview with the AV Club, "The turning point in my career and
01:13 probably the best thing I ever did." The actor went on to find major Hollywood

01:27 Boardwalk Empire. However, Dabney became the most popular for playing mean boss

01:43 playing Kevin Costner's father John Dutton Sr. on the hit series Yellowstone.
