01:03She was asked how she can use her beauty and confidence to empower others.
01:10As a woman of color, I've always faced challenges in my life.
01:15I was told that beauty has a standard actually.
01:20But for me, I have listened to always believe in my mother,
01:24to always believe in yourself, uphold the values that you have in yourself
01:28because of these, I am already influencing a lot of women who are facing me right now
01:33as a transformational woman.
01:36I have here 52 other delegates with me who have helped me to become the woman I am today.
01:44Besting other 52 candidates, Chelsea will be the next Miss Universe pageant in Mexico.
01:52I always have this dream of actually looking at myself in the mirror of wearing that sash
01:57and that crown.
01:58So when they announced my province, I couldn't feel anything, like literally,
02:04and I'm really happy to be here.
02:07I'm crying because I'm so happy.
02:09I'm thanking God that my dream came true.
02:17But the 24-year-old from Kenya's journey to use the corona wasn't a joke.
02:23Everyone performed their best.
02:25So I think what was my secret there is to just give it my all,
02:29to perform well, to stick to my core.
02:32Chelsea is half American.
02:34Her biological dad passed away and she grew up with her stepfather.
02:39Chelsea is also an advocate for indigenous people.
02:42She is also not exempted from bullying.
02:46We all go through challenges, we all go through that phase.
02:49I didn't have that standard of beauty when it comes to beauty pageants.
02:54But I told myself and my parents have always told me to believe in yourself.
