01:48 On behalf of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce,
01:52 I now declare today Chris Hemsworth Day in Hollywood.
01:58 [ Applause ]
02:01 Take it away, Chris.
02:02 >> Thank you, mate.
02:04 Thank you very much.
02:06 Thank you.
02:07 Firstly, thank you, George and Robert,
02:11 two icons of the industry, two of my heroes.
02:15 Having not just been able to meet them in person,
02:20 but to spend time with them, to work with them,
02:22 was an absolute honor.
02:23 And I learned so much from both of you,
02:25 the sense of humility and encouragement
02:28 they both gave me.
02:30 What I learned about discipline and respect
02:34 and enjoying yourself on the set and including everyone
02:37 who's part of the process
02:38 and understanding that it's a team effort,
02:40 that's something I'll never forget.
02:42 And I'm eternally grateful, guys.
02:45 Thank you so much.
02:46 [ Applause ]
02:49 >> Thank you very much to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce
02:51 and the Walk of Fame Selection Committee for this honor.
02:54 This is-- it did the dream come true.
02:57 It's kind of amazing and hard to articulate.
03:01 To Warner Brothers, Pam Abbey, Mike DeLuca, Josh Goldstein,
03:04 the entire Warner Brothers publicity and marketing team,
03:08 we've just been on the Furiosa press tour
03:10 for the last three weeks, and it's been incredible.
03:12 And again, George speaks to this a lot, but the team effort,
03:16 the collective spirit that's involved is second to none,
03:20 and I'm honored to be a part of the group and the team
03:23 at Warner Brothers.
03:24 And yeah, thank you.
03:26 And the Furiosa team, Anya Taylor-Joy,
03:30 obviously George Miller, Doug Mitchell,
03:33 the entire cast and crew who made that film.
03:35 It was an incredible experience.
03:36 So thank you, guys, and thanks for being here today.
03:39 [ Applause ]
03:43 I, like many actors, on my way to an audition
03:47 would drive through this section here in Hollywood Boulevard
03:50 and see the billboards of films that I wished I was a part of
03:54 or films that were inspiring me, the stars on the sidewalk here,
03:58 and sort of ask myself or wonder, wow, you know,
04:01 one day or what if or what would that be like
04:04 and what would that represent?
04:06 How would I feel when that happened if ever I was
04:10 to make it anywhere close to it?
04:13 And again, it's kind of a dream state sort of quality to it.
04:18 I feel like I'm about to wake up in some way,
04:22 and this is not real.
04:23 It's all something I've imagined.
04:26 But to be here in reality, I feel a wonderful,
04:30 profound sense of gratitude.
04:32 That's a feeling I keep coming back to because I'm well aware
04:36 of the many, many people that have been involved
04:38 in this journey, the many, many people, my family, my friends,
04:43 my team, who have encouraged me, have kept me passionate,
04:49 kept me on the right track, picked me up when I fell,
04:53 but been there as people of support
04:56 and that support network.
04:57 And I share this with all of them, from Kevin Feige
05:01 and the team at Marvel who really sort
05:03 of launched my career.
05:05 I am indebted to you guys and you, Kevin,
05:10 forever as the cinema audience that has been encapsulated
05:15 by the films you've presented, all of them.
05:17 And so to be a part of that is a dream.
05:20 I have my agent, Brian Lord, my publicist, Robin Baum,
05:24 my entire team at CIA, my lawyers, all my family,
05:29 friends, you know, a lot of these guys here.
05:31 I slept on various couches.
05:35 I borrowed money from, I still owe money to a few of them.
05:39 Guys I went to school with that I'm still working with,
05:42 Luke Zocchi, Aaron Grist, Luca Mateo, Evan.
05:48 You know, one of my oldest friends, Josh McDonald,
05:54 who's here today, who I, when I was, probably,
05:58 we went to primary school together.
05:59 And when we were six years old, right up until when we were,
06:03 the end of high school, 18, we would be reciting movies
06:06 and lines from movies and doing it just for the pure passion
06:11 and joy of it and not knowing or thinking I was going
06:14 to be an actor one day, but just because we love storytelling.
06:17 We love to be a part of that process
06:18 and we'd have little tape recorders
06:20 and we'd play the background music
06:22 and soundtracks to different things.
06:24 And just this morning, Josh was in my room and quoting movies
06:28 and going, "Do you know this one?
06:29 Do you know this one?"
06:31 And so to be here now and to have this dream be reality,
06:35 to be a much larger kid than I was then,
06:38 but still be doing the same thing, which is living
06:41 out my passion and my dream, is, again, hard to put into words.
06:47 It has a very surreal quality to it.
06:50 But again, I'm beyond grateful for it.
06:54 I think a lot of the reason that I believed
06:58 in myself doing this was the belief that my friends
07:01 and family had for me and specifically my parents
07:05 who raised me with the belief
07:09 that if you choose something you're passionate about,
07:12 if you lean to that thing that you love with your heart
07:15 and soul, then the purpose and the meaning is laid out in front
07:19 of you and to give things value by committing to it.
07:23 And we don't say rising into love, we say falling into love.
07:26 So fall into it.
07:27 There's a leap of faith that occurs and there's a risk
07:30 in that, but if you have people around you to catch you
07:33 and support you, then it's a far easier risk to take.
07:36 And I'm so thankful for my parents' encouragement along
07:40 the way and the confidence they gave myself and my brothers
07:46 to pursue something that we were passionate about
07:50 that ignited curiosity and creativity and just
07:55 to keep your head down and keep pushing forward.
07:57 So thank you guys.
07:58 I want to say thank you to my beautiful wife who has been here
08:03 for my entire career basically by my side,
08:07 endlessly encouraging and supportive
08:10 and it doesn't get lost upon me that she put aside her own dreams
08:15 in order to support mine and again forever in your debt
08:22 and the fact that nothing that I do, any of these moments,
08:26 these special occasions, all these events,
08:28 none of it's as special without you by my side.
08:31 [ Applause ]
08:33 And I love you.
08:36 And then my kids who-- my kids are endlessly inspiring
08:40 for so many reasons.
08:42 They're an abundance of joy and passion.
08:47 They inspire me to increase my VO2 max and my strength
08:50 and conditioning just to wrangle them and keep up with them.
08:54 But their ability to live in the moment and to dive
08:58 into life head first and to have fun and be joyous
09:02 and playful is a constant reminder that that's what life's
09:06 about and it's a constant inspiration.
09:08 So I love you guys.
09:10 And lastly, to the fans, to the audience, to you guys who show up
09:18 and buy the tickets and allow all of us in this space
09:23 to continue to live out this crazy dream
09:25 and you've made it a reality.
09:27 Again, I wouldn't be here without you all.
09:30 I love you so much.
09:32 Thank you for the support.
09:35 Love you all.
09:36 Cheers.
