00:36I'm trying to speed it up for you.
00:37No, you.
00:38No, you.
00:39I'm kidding.
00:40His other projects include...
00:41You don't have to bring him out.
00:42That's what I'm saying.
00:43His other projects include Card Sharks, Twilight Zone, Mortal Kombat Legends, Scorpion's Revenge,
00:48The Happy Time Murders, as well as Netflix's A Stupid and Futile Jester, opposite Will
00:53Forte.
00:54Please help me welcome Joel McHale to the stage.
01:01Thank you for that reading of my Wikipedia page.
01:05That was...
01:06Wow.
01:07Ken, would it have killed you to wear a tie today?
01:12Good morning, fans of Ken Jeong, tourists, Jimmy Kimmel staffers on lunch break, people
01:22buying weed at the Pineapple, and people experiencing homelessness.
01:28Thank you for being here this morning.
01:32I first met Ken in 2006 when I sued him for malpractice because he left a clamp inside
01:37my stomach after a botched surgery.
01:42You're a monster.
01:43All right.
01:44I'm kidding.
01:45I'm sorry.
01:46I know I only have 35 minutes to tell you about my friend Ken Jeong and what he has
01:49pulled off in his short 81 years on this planet.
01:54I'm kidding, man.
01:55I didn't mean to call you short.
01:56All right.
01:57I don't know if you know this, but today is Ken's day.
02:02It is Ken's day.
02:05I know you think this is some snappy phrase cooked up in a Fox TV marketing meeting.
02:09It's not.
02:10I just made that up right here in this moment.
02:14First, as you know, Ken is a doctor.
02:20Everyone talks about this, especially him.
02:23But I'm going to say a little bit more about him being a doctor because it just gets said
02:28and then he gets introduced as a panel on a guest on a show or something.
02:32But I just want to say this.
02:33Okay.
02:34A young Ken Jeong went to Duke University.
02:37That is a hard thing to do, right?
02:41None of you went to Duke.
02:42You're in Hollywood.
02:43Okay.
02:44Then Ken went to med school at UNC.
02:46Harder to do.
02:48Then he did his residency at UCLA and he put in all those thousands of hours to be
02:54a doctor.
02:56Hard to do.
02:57And then you know what Ken said while he was doing that?
02:59He said, I think I'll go to some open mics.
03:04I think I'll audition for some commercials.
03:08That is also hard to do.
03:10And then just a little bit later, Ken literally burst onto the screen naked and screaming
03:17and commanding one of the biggest comedic performances in one of the biggest comedies
03:23of all time, The Hangover, guys.
03:28It didn't gross as much as Ted, but it was right up there.
03:33This is nearly impossible to do.
03:37It's like what Steph Curry did for the NBA.
03:40He's a little shorter, but still, this is why it's Ken's day.
03:44Say it with me.
03:46It's Ken's day.
03:48And in a few short years after that, Ken now is one of the most recognizable comedians
03:53on the planet.
03:55And this is why we are putting his name on a piece of brass and putting it in the Hollywood
04:00Walk of Fame.
04:02Not easy to do.
04:03It is Ken's day, everybody.
04:08I also want to say this is the most well-positioned podium I've ever spoken at.
04:13Sorry back there.
04:16Photographers, top billing, best seats.
04:19And also Nick Cannon has not been mentioned that he's here.
04:22Nick Cannon is here, everybody.
04:26All right.
04:28I met Ken for real in 2009 on Parks and Rec.
04:31Community.
04:32Okay, good.
04:33You guys passed the test.
04:34No, on Community.
04:35And here's why I love Ken Jeong.
04:38He was added to the cast.
04:40He was not in the pilot.
04:41He failed the audition.
04:43No.
04:44But NBC was dying to put him on a show, so somehow we got Ken.
04:48I don't know why we got so lucky.
04:50And that first day of shooting, first time we ever met, I walked up to Ken and said,
04:54what are you doing here?
04:56You're a movie star.
04:58And Ken said, for real, he said, I want to see my family every day.
05:04And I can't even make a joke about that because it was so moving and I was like, man, I should
05:10really do that.
05:11I didn't.
05:14And that's where I fell in love with Ken.
05:15And nobody on this planet works harder than Ken.
05:19He takes talent and work and puts it, I work very hard, and later on I'll be standing on
05:24Ryan Seacrest Star accepting offers, all right?
05:28Because I think Ken works so hard because he put the same effort into becoming a doctor,
05:32which if you screw up, you kill people, right?
05:35If you screw up as an actor, the worst thing that's going to happen is you'll be in 2009
05:40is all about Steve, 6% on Rotten Tomatoes.
05:46Not a big deal.
05:47The body of Ken's work is nuts, okay?
05:50Think about it.
05:51The Hangover series, 30 other films, animated films, The Masked Singer, I Can See Your Voice,
05:58stand up specials.
05:59He is the only reason why Thanos' The Snap was reversed and half of all creatures came
06:06back to life.
06:08This man works so hard.
06:10He cares so much about his art.
06:12He doesn't care how he looks.
06:16He doesn't care about his clothes, clearly.
06:21He's dressed as a raspberry chocolate today.
06:24And when he says, I'm ready for my close-up, the director says, no, no, no, we're good.
06:30We got it in the wide.
06:32That's how much he leaps off the screen.
06:35This is Ken's day, everyone.
06:40Say it.
06:41It's Ken's day.
06:42And now I'm almost done.
06:45The mayor of Hollywood's about to kill me.
06:47Ken, but your greatest accomplishment, and I know you're agreed, this is the greatest
06:52one, is somehow convincing his wife, Tran Ho, to marry him because she is a thousand
06:58times better than him.
07:00And I say that because it's the same situation with my wife.
07:04They have beautiful daughters, Zoe and Alexa, who are so much smarter than him.
07:09And he loves them.
07:10He won't stop talking about them.
07:12So this is such a cool day, Ken, and I am honored to be your friend and to be a part
07:18of it.
07:19And I'm not going to cry.
07:20And let's go sell some more peanuts.
07:21I love you, Ken.
07:22That was too long.
07:23It was way too long.
07:24I love you, brother.
07:25I love you, Ken.
07:26I love you, Ken.
07:27I love you, Ken.
07:28I love you, Ken.
07:29I love you, Ken.
07:30I love you, Ken.
07:31I love you, Ken.
07:32I love you, Ken.
07:33I love you, Ken.
07:34I love you, brother.
07:35Oh, God.
