27-YEAR-OLD Anthony Bayer from Queensland, Australia has lost a spectacular 115lbs after being rushed to the hospital. Anthony says his weight issues started in high school, using food as a coping mechanism and consuming over 1,000 calories a day. “Every time I was stressed out I would eat. I would consume three pizzas, three bottles of coke and three packs of Magnum ice cream in one sitting,” he told Truly. Weighing in at 330lbs at his heaviest, Anthony would spend his days at home playing video games. He said: “I had absolutely no confidence, I thought I was going to be alone for the rest of my life." And his fears of ending up alone really intensified when he was stood up for his high school prom. “I asked the most attractive girl in school to be my date and she said yes. I knocked on her door on the day of the formal and she started laughing, at that moment I realised I was set up.” A few months later, Anthony woke up in the middle of the night suffering from heart palpitations. Rushed to the hospital, the doctor explained to him that his irregular heartbeat was down to the pressure put on his body by the excess weight. On the verge of type 2 diabetes, Anthony was urged to make a drastic change to his diet. Researching healthy diets, going for walks and eventually joining a gym, Anthony managed to lose 115lbs in total. He added: “My transformation changed me mentally, now I’m confident, willing to go out there and live my life to the fullest."

00:00 So at my heaviest I hit the scales at about 330 pounds. I used to consume well
00:05 over 10,000 calories a day, three pizzas, three bottles of coke, three packs of
00:11 Magnum ice cream. I had absolutely no confidence. I literally just sat home and
00:15 played video games all day and thought I was gonna be alone for the rest of my
00:17 life. Most attractive girl at school, like I've had a crush on her. I said hey do
00:21 you want to be my former date? She started laughing and something just
00:25 changed inside me and I was like you know what this - I need to make a
00:28 difference. It's quite an epic journey that I've been on and I'm so glad it
00:35 happened.
00:37 Growing up my weight and size was getting bigger and bigger. Food was an
00:48 addiction. Every time I'd be stressed out I would just eat and eat and eat and
00:52 that's how the weight started packing on. When I ate I didn't really think about
00:55 the dramas and stresses that I was going through. I was just thinking about that
00:59 food that I was putting into my mouth. I was too scared to go outside because I
01:03 was so worried about the way people were gonna look at me and judge me.
01:07 I asked the most attractive girl out in school, like I've had a crush on her
01:12 pretty much through my whole senior year. I said hey do you want to be my
01:15 formal date? She said yes and I was so blown away. I really tried to make
01:19 myself look like a million dollars. It came to the formal date okay and I
01:23 knocked on her door. She opened it I said oh hey look I'm here to pick you up.
01:27 She started laughing and then she said to me that I was too fat to fit through
01:32 the door and in that moment I realized it was just a big joke and it was set up
01:37 on me.
01:40 So what was your wake-up call? I woke up one night and I was having heart
01:46 palpitations. I ended up getting rushed to hospital. The doctor pretty much just
01:51 explained to me like I had an irregular heartbeat at the time because I
01:54 was putting obviously so much pressure on my body and I was on the verge of
01:59 falling into type 2 diabetes. The doctor sat me down he said to me Anthony like
02:05 what do you want? And I said look man like you know I want to have a family
02:08 one day like I would love to you know have opportunities out there and you
02:12 know put myself out there in the world. And he told me if I stay like this it's
02:15 really never gonna happen. I got home that night I looked in front of the
02:19 mirror for the first time in years and something just changed inside me and I
02:24 was like you know what this - I need to make a difference and that was the
02:28 turning point to the transformation of my life.
02:33 You gonna work? Come on buddy. That one works. I started researching about
02:42 healthy nutrition, how to slowly transition off having such an unhealthy
02:46 and high sugar addiction to healthy foods. Lots of salad, lots of greens, lots
02:50 of high protein foods. I started going for walks.

03:02 Yeah let's do it. And then one day I walked past a gym. I walked in there and
03:09 I was speaking to the club manager. He said to me look man if you put in some
03:15 hard effort and you come to the gym every single day, I'll give you a free
03:19 gym membership and that's how that part of my life started. So at my heaviest I
03:24 hit the scales at about 330 pounds. Currently I weigh 97.8 kilos roughly.
03:33 He's not only lost all the weight but he's just very confident you know and
03:40 I think he's just found his element now.

03:48 My transformation has changed me mentally. Like now I'm confident I'm
03:53 willing to go out there. Losing weight has affected my dating life massively. I feel
04:07 good in myself to be able to go out there and experience the dating scene so
04:12 it's really made a huge difference. Someone who wants to lose weight like me
04:17 you cannot do it for anybody else because if you do it for other people
04:20 you're not going to go anywhere. You need to do it for yourself and if you can do
04:25 it for yourself I promise you, you can change your life.
