00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're venturing into the areas found in From Software games
00:11that we outright despise, or at the very least make us shudder at the thought of tackling
00:16again.
00:22Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:27the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:39Let's get the obvious out of the way, shall we? A gauntlet for the unprepared. Those wanting
00:44to make their way through are going to have to become well acquainted with the rickety
00:47plank walkways and abundance of ladders. It's not only easy to lose your footing here, but
00:52between the poison darts and poison swamp, it'll serve as an… unpleasant introduction
00:58to the franchise's fascination with all things venomous. The fact you've got to
01:02manoeuvre your way through it all on the way to take down Quelaag is just salt in the wound.
01:11Sunken Valley. Sekiro. Shadows die twice. Locations wise, Sekiro hits all the right
01:21notes. That being said, if there was an area that caused us to make the fatal flaw of
01:26hesitating, it would be this frosty collection of cliffs. While we're always down to bust
01:31out the grappling hook, the abundance of snake eyes and their penchant for sniping really
01:36dampens the mood. You won't be able to move an inch without some jerk blasting you out
01:40of the sky, made all the worse with so many open areas to navigate. It certainly left
01:45us wishing Wolf's Prosthetic Arm had a cannon of its own.
01:51Mikula's Halig Tree. Elden Ring. Don't get us wrong, the Halig Tree is a stunning
02:03location, adding to the mysticism surrounding Mikula and an overall feast for the eyes.
02:08Navigating it, however, is an exercise in patience and perpetual game overs. The branch
02:13pathways are on the slim side, and especially easy to fall from when you're being pelted
02:18by the tree's inhabitants. Even when you make it further in, you'll be trading traversal
02:22for challenge as you'll be faced with some of the toughest enemies the game can throw
02:26your way, all of which leads to the now infamous showdown with Melania.
02:34Nightmare Frontier. Bloodborne. Much like Sekiro, when it comes to the interwoven sections
02:43of Bloodborne's world, its creativity and connectivity is of an incredibly high level.
02:49However, if there's one area that makes us groan, it would be this hellscape. It's
02:54all too easy to lose your way amongst the rocky terrain, and should you make a wrong
02:58turn, your hunter can expect to find themselves in yet another poisonous swamp, plus a bunch
03:04of giant lost children all too happy to toss boulders your way. While the fishing hamlet
03:08isn't much better in terms of difficulty spikes, at the very least you're on the
03:12cusp of beating the game. Here, it's nothing but frustration and a lot of wasted blood
03:17vials.
03:21Black Gulch. Dark Souls 2. Poison. Poison everywhere! Poison projectiles! Poison pools!
03:32Enemies that spawn from poison! Enemies that corrupt you with poison! Yeah, the Black Gulch
03:37leans so heavily into this status effect it's almost a joke. Even if you're darting through
03:42with every intention of just trying to make it to the boss, you're still likely going
03:46to end up poisoned at least once before making it to that fog door. It's a wasteland that
03:50only the most masochistic of Soul fans would enjoy frequenting.
04:00Irithyll Dungeon. Dark Souls 3. A dungeon in a Souls game? One filled with endless tight
04:09corridors and plenty of places for enemies to leap out of? Get ready for the pain. We
04:15could just about deal with the giant rats, corpses possessed by sentient maggot piles,
04:19and whatever the hell the wretches are, but the real kicker are the jailers. There's
04:24a whole flock of them stationed amongst the dungeon, and each of them can reduce your
04:28maximum health down to a fraction, making it all too easy for the other residents to
04:33easily rip you apart. Have fun exploring!
04:41Tomb of the Giants. Dark Souls. Are you a fan of exploring caverns and tunnels where
04:50you can barely see a thing? Ones that are also filled with skeletal beasts ready to
04:55pounce? For the majority, it's a resounding no, as the Tomb of the Giants offers nothing
05:00but darkness and pain while players endeavour to find the correct path through. You can
05:04expect to fall to your demise plenty of times before figuring out the correct route. With
05:09Gravelord Nito waiting for you at the end of this treacherous maze, best make sure you
05:13keep your torch lit at all times.
05:21Barren Keep. Dark Souls 3. Miyazaki, we love you, but seriously, what's
05:32with the poison swamps? Especially one as extensive as this? Having to navigate these
05:37putrid woods won't only guarantee your actual one is left heavily poisoned, but it'll
05:42also severely slow all movement, leaving the surrounding slugs, lepers and giants plenty
05:47of time to crush you. Maybe that could all be overlooked if the game didn't demand
05:51you light three fires in order to proceed, which means you'll be spending a whole lot
05:55of time exploring every inch of this wretched place. Lovely.
06:05Lake of Rot. Elden Ring. They just couldn't resist, could they? In the lands between,
06:18steroids, one that will quickly consume your entire health if you aren't careful. So imagine
06:23navigating a lake full of the stuff. Should you wish to cross, then you're gonna have
06:27to deal with razing platforms, a slumbering dragonkin soldier, plus a bunch of kindred
06:33of rot waiting for you on the other side. Unless you're packing a slew of preserving
06:37boluses, then this place is going to be the death of you.
06:46Frigid Outskirts. Dark Souls 2. The only thing worse than an area filled with poison is apparently
06:57one consumed by a never-ending blizzard. While it may appear downright tranquil compared
07:02to some of the Souls series' more haunting locales, the outskirts are despised for the
07:07simple reason that you can barely see what's in front of you. Should you get caught in
07:11the snowfall, your vision becomes beyond obscured, to the extent you won't know if
07:16an enemy is heading your way until they're already on top of you. Unless your reflexes
07:20are next level, then this whole place might as well be one big icy grave.
