00:06Speaker. The Supreme Court recently circulated guidelines to its employees
00:10that cautioned against anything quote that might signal a political display
00:14end quote. Those guidelines for employees are apparently lost on some of the
00:19justices themselves who fly upside down American flags, display symbols of
00:24insurrection and Christian nationalism, and take gifts from political operatives.
00:28Supreme Court justices should set the highest standard and avoid even the
00:32appearance of conflicts of interest. Mr. Speaker I'm increasingly concerned about
00:36attacks on the American system of justice from the inside and out. As an
00:41attorney I'm bound by a code of ethics that states a lawyer should demonstrate
00:45respect for the legal system and for those who serve it including judges,
00:49other lawyers, and public officials. Which is why it is so shocking to see
00:53colleagues who've practiced law standing outside of the trial of the former
00:58president in an attempt to undermine those proceedings as they're going on.
01:01They should know better and they do know better, but loyalty to Donald Trump is
01:06apparently the only loyalty some attorneys serving in elected office
01:09adhere to these days. As members of the House and members of the bar we must do
