00:00Now, this is a meal I've waited my whole life for.
00:04Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most iconic female baddies in the Disney canon.
00:10There will be a few spoilers ahead.
00:13Now, is that fair?
00:15Gramps, I ask you.
00:17But Finn!
00:18Whoever said we had to play fair?
00:22Number 30. Helga Sinclair, Atlantis the Lost Empire.
00:27Who are you? How did you get in here?
00:29I came down the chimney. Ho, ho, ho.
00:33From her first scene, it's clear that she's not to be trifled with.
00:37Helga is beautiful, tough, and no-nonsense,
00:40which makes her a pretty likable character.
00:42That is, until she betrays the hero.
00:44It turns out that she's not just an adventurer.
00:47She's willing to destroy an entire ancient civilization
00:50in order to sell their magic crystal to the highest bidder.
00:53That crystal is the only thing keeping these people alive.
00:55You take that away and they'll die!
00:57Well, that changes things.
00:59Helga, what do you think?
01:00Knowing that, I'd double the price.
01:03I was thinking triple.
01:04Like most Disney villains, she eventually gets what's coming to her,
01:08though her demise is a little anticlimactic.
01:10When you partner up with a traitor,
01:12you can't be too surprised when the tables turn against you.
01:15You said we were in this together!
01:18You promised me a percentage!
01:21Next time, get it in writing!
01:24Number 29.
01:26Darla, Finding Nemo.
01:28From the perspective of the main character,
01:30she might be the most terrifying antagonist in Disney history.
01:33That makes it especially fitting that she's introduced like a horror villain.
01:41Darla!
01:42Darla isn't a traditional bad guy.
01:44She doesn't have a nefarious plan,
01:46and she's not trying to hurt the fish on purpose.
01:49That actually makes her even scarier.
01:51She wouldn't stop shaking the bag.
01:54Oh, it tickles.
01:56It was her present last year!
01:58She's not evil.
01:59She's more like an agent of chaos.
02:01That said, she'll probably grow out of this fish-killing phase.
02:04In the meantime, she needs adults around her
02:07who will stop enabling her behavior,
02:09and who know better than to buy pets who have been kidnapped from the wild.
02:16What?!
02:17All the animals are gone mad!
02:19Number 28.
02:21Aunt Sarah, Lady and the Tramp.
02:23And if you want my advice, you'll destroy that animal at once.
02:27Don't worry, ma'am.
02:28If you don't like dogs, you're automatically the villain.
02:31Hey, we don't make the rules.
02:33When Jim Deere and Darling go on vacation,
02:35they leave Lady and the new baby in the care of Aunt Sarah.
02:38She immediately banishes Lady from the baby's room,
02:40and things only get worse from there.
02:43Good afternoon, ma'am.
02:44What can I do for you?
02:46I want a muscle.
02:47A good, strong muscle.
02:49The woman is completely unreasonable at every turn.
02:52Because of her, a rat nearly gets to the baby,
02:54and the Tramp winds up in the dog catcher's clutches,
02:57where he almost meets an untimely end.
02:59The next time Jim Deere and Darling need some time away,
03:02we hope they get someone else to watch the house.
03:04Hey, what's the matter with Lady?
03:07Oh, she thinks we're running out on him.
03:10Oh, don't worry, old girl.
03:13Number 27.
03:14Gabby Gabby.
03:15Toy Story 4.
03:18Hello, Woody.
03:20I knew you'd be back.
03:22Although she initially comes across as kind of terrifying,
03:25Gabby turns out to be more sympathetic than most Disney villains.
03:29She wants what most toys want, to be loved by a child.
03:32The difference is that she's willing to do anything to get it,
03:35even if it means getting her hands dirty.
03:37We gotta go.
03:39You can't leave yet.
03:40You have what I need.
03:42Right inside there.
03:45With her cadre of dummy henchmen, Gabby is like a crime boss,
03:49and the antique store is her turf.
03:51She holds Forky hostage in exchange for Woody's voice box,
03:54and with a little help from the gang,
03:56her wish finally comes true.
03:58Her methods were underhanded,
04:00but we have to admit that seeing Gabby finally get her happy ending
04:03was pretty gratifying.
04:05Are you lost too?
04:12I'm Gabby Gabby. Will you be my friend?
04:15I'll help you.
04:17Number 26.
04:19Queen Ingrith. Maleficent, Mistress of Evil.
04:22The title of this movie is a little misleading,
04:25since Ingrith is the one who's actually evil.
04:28Well, there are many who prey on the innocent.
04:33I'm sure your kind would agree.
04:36What do you mean, my kind?
04:38She means humans.
04:41Although at first she seems welcoming,
04:43if a little rude to Maleficent,
04:45she has a dark secret.
04:47She's held a grudge against the fairies since she was young,
04:50and now she's determined to eradicate them
04:52and take over their lands.
04:54And now my own son, corrupted with visions of harmony.
05:00But peace will not be our downfall.
05:03She spent years waging a smear campaign against Maleficent
05:06and building an arsenal of iron weapons to use against the Feyfolk.
05:09The sequel subverts our usual ideas about good and evil.
05:12The villain is no longer an ugly old crone,
05:15but is instead portrayed by the beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer
05:18and is clothed in all white.
05:20It's a good lesson for young viewers.
05:22Don't be deceived by appearances.
05:24They were all terrified.
05:26And the story became legend.
05:29Number 25.
05:31Calypso. Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End.
05:34You want to know me?
05:36There'll be no knowing here.
05:38We've come for help and we're not leaving without it.
05:40In the previous film, Dead Man's Chest,
05:42Tia Dalma seems to simply be a voodoo witch
05:44who happened to have the information the main characters needed
05:47to find the Flying Dutchman.
05:49However, in At World's End,
05:50we learn that she's actually the sea goddess Calypso,
05:53who was bound in human form by the Pirate Lords
05:55after she and Davy Jones betrayed each other.
05:58The murder in court.
06:01All of them.
06:03The last thing they will learn in this life
06:06is how cruel I can be.
06:09Captain Barbossa frees her,
06:10assuming she'll help him to defeat his enemies.
06:13Instead, the enraged goddess disappears into the sea,
06:16summoning a massive maelstrom that nearly devours everyone.
06:20Honestly, we can't blame her.
06:22Being stuck inside a human body for eternity
06:24sounds pretty dreadful.
06:26It has been torture.
06:29Trapped in this single form.
06:33Cut off from the sea.
06:36From all that I love.
06:39Number 24.
06:41Evelyn Dever.
06:42Incredibles 2.
06:43So you're the Screenslaver?
06:45Yes.
06:47And no.
06:48Let's say I created the character
06:51and pre-recorded the messages.
06:53Thanks to her technical genius,
06:54she turns out to be quite a daunting villain.
06:57Evelyn has had a grudge against superheroes
06:59ever since they failed to save her parents
07:01during a home invasion.
07:02Now, she's determined to ruin their image
07:04to ensure they'll never be legalized again.
07:07Superheroes keep us weak!
07:10Are you gonna kill me?
07:12Nah.
07:15Using you is better.
07:17Using hypnotic goggles,
07:18she's able to get an entire army of Supes under her control.
07:22It's only thanks to the Incredible Kids,
07:24including the extremely overpowered Jack-Jack,
07:26that her plan fails.
07:28With just a bit more luck,
07:29she might have successfully subdued every Supe
07:31and made superheroes a thing of the past.
07:34I'm sorry, but she'll go to prison.
07:37Well, I'm sorry she's rich
07:38and will probably get no more than a slap on the wrist.
07:41Number 23.
07:43Baroness Von Hellman.
07:44Cruella.
07:45This villain origin story gave us an even bigger,
07:48badder antagonist in the Baroness.
07:50What do you want?
07:51I mean, you clearly wanted to get my attention.
07:57I want to be like you.
08:00You're a very powerful woman.
08:02She's vain, selfish, controlling,
08:05and kind of iconic.
08:07It's understandable that Cruella would look up to her
08:09as a sort of role model,
08:11until she learns how evil the Baroness actually is.
08:14She doesn't just treat everyone around her as an inferior,
08:17she's an actual murderer.
08:19I know you killed my mother.
08:21You're going to have to be more specific.
08:24What?
08:27Who exactly?
08:29Just narrow it down for me.
08:31The Baroness's true colors come out
08:33when Cruella begins showing her up,
08:35stealing the spotlight at fancy balls
08:37and drawing the attention of the press.
08:39Yet somehow, she's still delightful to watch
08:41every time she's on screen.
08:43Here's to me.
08:50Who the hell else would I drink to?
08:52Number 22.
08:54Xian Yang.
08:55Mulan.
08:56You're a witch, am I?
08:58And who are you?
09:02We love a good redemption arc.
09:04Like Mulan, Xian Yang was ostracized
09:06for refusing to submit to a woman's typical role.
09:09She went on to become a powerful witch
09:11with the ability to shapeshift,
09:13and she joins Bori Khan in his attempt
09:15to overthrow the Emperor and rule China.
09:17She sees herself in Mulan,
09:19and even suggests that the two join forces.
09:21You're just at the beginning of your power.
09:25Merge your path with mine.
09:28We will be stronger together.
09:30When Mulan refuses, Xian Yang admires her even more.
09:34When she realizes that Khan will never give her
09:36the respect she craves, she turns on him,
09:38ultimately sacrificing herself in a heroic gesture.
09:42Take your place.
09:45Mulan.
09:48Number 21.
09:49Namari.
09:50Raya and the Last Dragon.
09:52Speaking of noble sacrifices,
09:54this warrior princess is willing to do anything
09:56to protect her clan.
09:58The tail lands are infested with Druun.
10:00Benja's daughter is as good as stone out here.
10:02Retrieving some useless dragon scroll
10:05isn't worth the risk.
10:11Anyone else want to question why we're out here?
10:15The Fang tribe has been less prosperous
10:17than the Heart tribe since Namari was a little girl.
10:19She betrays her best friend Raya
10:21to steal Heart Dragon's gem,
10:23thinking it will make things better for her own tribe.
10:25In a different world, maybe we could have been friends.
10:28But I have to do what's right for Fang.
10:31As Sisu the Dragon correctly points out,
10:33Namari didn't really want to cause harm.
10:36She was just looking out for the interests of her tribe.
10:38Her mother, Chief Virana, is also prepared
10:40to go to extremes to safeguard Fang.
10:43But in the end, it's Namari's self-sacrifice
10:45that saves all of the tribes.
10:47It worked! It worked!
10:49It worked!
10:54Number 20.
10:55Madame Medusa, The Rescuers.
10:57Many Disney villains have plans to take over the world,
11:00rule the cosmos, become immortal gods,
11:03you know, all that cartoony stuff.
11:05But then there are some villains like Madame Medusa
11:08who are all too realistic.
11:10That little brat has escaped again.
11:13Nero, Brutus, bring her back, boys.
11:18Medusa is a greedy and temperamental woman
11:20who runs a seedy pawn shop in New York.
11:23That is, until her obsession with diamonds
11:25brings her south to Devil's Bayou
11:27in search of a massive one called the Devil's Eye.
11:30I want that diamond.
11:32I've got to have the Devil's Eye.
11:36When she's too large to reach its hiding place,
11:39Medusa returns to New York,
11:41kidnaps an orphan named Penny,
11:43and brings her to New Orleans so she can retrieve the diamond.
11:46Get down there and find the big diamond
11:50or you will never see that teddy again.
11:53In a way, a violent kidnapper is much scarier
11:56than any would-be world conqueror.
11:59Number 19.
12:00Teka, Moana.
12:02Few Disney villains are as physically intimidating as Teka.
12:06A demon of earth and fire.
12:09Composed of lava and flames,
12:11she is a colossal figure who towers over Moana and Maui,
12:15crawls around like some type of animal,
12:17and has a very creepy skull-like face.
12:20It's all enough to frighten adult viewers,
12:22let alone young children.
12:27Maui!
12:28But there's also a tragic backstory behind this horrifying villain,
12:31giving her some welcome complexity.
12:34This is not who you are.
12:38Teka was once known as Te Fiti,
12:41and she provided the gift of life.
12:43However, Maui stole her heart
12:45in a misguided attempt to impress humanity,
12:48and as a result, the goddess unleashed her rage on the whole world.
12:52Number 18.
12:54Kaa, The Jungle Book.
12:562016's The Jungle Book proved one of the finest live-action Disney remakes,
13:00if you even want to call it live-action.
13:03In a break from the original depiction of this character,
13:06here, Scarlett Johansson lends an eerie vocal performance
13:09to the now-female snake.
13:11Who are you?
13:15Kaa.
13:20Mowgli comes across her creepy domicile after running from Shere Khan,
13:24and the setting works wonderfully in building character and setting the mood.
13:28Don't you know what you are?
13:32I know what you are.
13:36I know where you came from.
13:39Kaa herself is a terrifying creation,
13:42a 30-foot-long python who hypnotizes Mowgli with her slithery voice
13:46in an attempt to eat him.
13:48You can be with me if you want.
13:51I'll keep you close.
13:54If it wasn't for the timely intervention of Baloo,
13:57Mowgli would have been snake rub.
13:59The scene was unsettling enough in the 1967 original.
14:03The convincing CGI makes it petrifying.
14:07Number 17.
14:08Zira, The Lion King 2, Simba's Pride
14:11Scar was a mean son of a gun,
14:13and he directly influenced a number of other lions to be just like him.
14:18The worst of them all is Zira.
14:20The lioness is born to cry.
14:24That's right, little boy.
14:27Zira was one of Scar's most devoted followers while he led the Pride.
14:31When he died, Zira and Scar's other supporters were banished
14:35and became known as the Outsiders.
14:37Like Scar before her, Zira is a very conniving and heartless creature.
14:42She doesn't even love her own children,
14:44seeing them more as political tools and puppets.
14:47It's only when they show an understanding of her evil plans
14:50that Zira displays affection and pride.
14:52You thought you'd get to the daughter,
14:55and Simba would welcome you with open arms?
14:59What an idea.
15:02What an idea.
15:06She's a nasty lion,
15:07and a worthy successor to one of Disney's most iconic villains.
15:12Number 16.
15:13Lana Thomas, The Princess Diaries
15:16Played by Mandy Moore in her film debut,
15:18Lana Thomas is a stereotypical character who could be right at home in Mean Girls.
15:23She's a beautiful cheerleader and a popular student,
15:26and her power within the high school social circle allows her to torment Mia.
15:31Lana takes pride in her unpleasant personality,
15:34and viewers quickly grow to hate her.
15:36She's got her bathing suit off.
15:40Hate now!
15:42Princess!
15:44The end of the film proves wonderfully cathartic, though,
15:46when Mia smears chocolate ice cream over Lana's beloved cheerleading uniform,
15:51resulting in a whiny and satisfying outburst.
15:54Mia, you're such a freak!
15:56Yeah, yeah I am.
15:58But you know what?
15:59Someday I just might grow out of that,
16:00but you, you will never stop being a jerk.
16:02There's something very gratifying about watching a Mean Girl get their comeuppance.
16:06Mrs. Gupta, did you see what she did to me?
16:09Oh no, honey, I'm sorry.
16:12I was in a very important meeting.
16:14Send it out for Dracula.
16:16Number 15.
16:17Madame Mim, The Sword in the Stone
16:20Madame Mim is the antithesis to Merlin, the yin to his yang.
16:24Now don't tell me you've never heard of the marvelous Madame Mim!
16:28Like Merlin, Madame Mim is an incredibly powerful wizard,
16:31and her talents rival, and arguably even best Merlin's,
16:35who is supposedly the most powerful wizard in the whole world.
16:38Merlin, the world's most powerful bungler!
16:42Why, boy, I've got more magic in one little finger!
16:47Mim is annoyingly arrogant,
16:49but her talents generally back up her boisterous personality.
16:52She is a practitioner of dark magic,
16:55and she uses said magic for sadistic purposes.
16:58I'm afraid I'll have to destroy you.
17:01Destroy me?
17:03Yeah, I'll give you a sporting chance.
17:06I'm mad about games, you know.
17:09Perhaps her greatest talent is shapeshifting into a massive dragon,
17:13which serves as a scary visual reminder of her power
17:16and a representation of her evil.
17:19Did I say no purple dragons?
17:22Did I?
17:23Number 14.
17:24Warden Louise Walker.
17:26Holes.
17:27The overbearing warden character is a popular one in fiction,
17:30and Warden Louise Walker is a great example.
17:34Walker oversees Camp Green Lake,
17:36a children's detention center that sees juvenile delinquents
17:39digging holes as punishment.
17:41What am I supposed to be looking for, Mr. Sir?
17:43You're not looking for anything.
17:45You're building character.
17:46You take a bad boy, make him dig holes all day in the hot sun,
17:50and it turns him into a good boy.
17:52There are ulterior motives behind the digging.
17:54Whenever Mr. Sir says,
17:56the kids are actually looking for a stash of buried treasure
17:59that once belonged to a Wild West outlaw.
18:01This is representative of the warden's very character.
18:05She is deceptively friendly on the outside,
18:07but she harbors ulterior motives and a cold, dangerous personality.
18:12Rail snake venom.
18:16I just love what it does to the color.
18:20It's perfectly harmless when it's dry.
18:26She utilizes what is essentially child slave labor,
18:29and she isn't above poisoning her own employees with rattlesnake venom
18:33simply for wasting her time.
18:35I suggest you go back to your home.
18:39Number 13. Jadis, the White Witch.
18:42The Chronicles of Narnia, the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
18:46Based on C.S. Lewis' iconic children's novel of the same name,
18:49The Chronicles of Narnia contains a perfect adaptation of Jadis, the White Witch.
18:54Excellently portrayed by Tilda Swinton,
18:56Jadis is the very personification of evil.
19:00She is the leader of Narnia,
19:02having usurped power over the world and subjected it to an endless winter.
19:06Always winter, never Christmas.
19:09It's been a long winter.
19:11The winter is symbolic of Jadis' character.
19:13Harsh, cold, uncaring, and cruel.
19:18You are giving me your life and saving no one.
19:26So much for love.
19:27And like Warden Walker, the White Witch pretends to be nice when it suits her needs,
19:32especially when it involves manipulating young Edmund.
19:35I have no children of my own.
19:38And you are exactly the sort of boy who I could see one day becoming Prince of Narnia.
19:45Maybe even King.
19:47Few characters in children's literature are as menacing and heartless as Jadis, the White Witch.
19:5312. Dawn Bellwether
19:55Zootopia.
19:56There are a few things that set Bellwether apart from other Disney villains.
20:00For one thing, she's a sheep.
20:02For another, she wears adorable little outfits befitting her public office job.
20:07And finally, she has a distinctive high-pitched voice provided by Jenny Slate.
20:11Us little guys really need to stick together, right?
20:14Like glue.
20:15Good one.
20:16But make no mistake, she is a vicious sheep.
20:20From behind the scenes, Bellwether carried out a plot to make the predator citizens of Zootopia seem like dangerous savages
20:26so prey species like her could rule.
20:29It won't work. Fear always works.
20:33And I'll dart every predator in Zootopia to keep it that way.
20:36Civilized creatures like Mr. Monchus were attacked with her night howler concoctions,
20:41turning them violent and resulting in discrimination against the predators of Zootopia.
20:46Bellwether is a truly disgusting villain, both in terms of actions and motivation.
20:52I framed Lionheart, I can frame you too.
20:55It's my word against yours.
20:5711. The Sanderson Sisters
20:59Hocus Pocus.
21:01This perennial Halloween classic is certainly a lot of fun, but it contains a dark undercurrent.
21:07That is, in large part, due to the Sanderson Sisters.
21:10I put a spell on you.
21:14And now you're mine.
21:16With a potion from Winifred's Manual of Witchcraft and Alchemy, written by the devil and bound in human skin,
21:22the trio concoct a plan to regain their youth and beauty by sucking the life force from the children of Salem.
21:28One thing more and all is done.
21:31Add a bit of vine on top.
21:35Young Emily Binks becomes their first victim, but the villagers are able to stop them from doing further harm.
21:41For 300 years or so.
21:43One virgin with a lighter, though, and they are back in business and determined to finish what they started.
21:49Then we must find the book, brew the potion, and suck the lives out of the children of Salem before sunrise.
21:55Otherwise it's curtains!
21:57Iconic as the Sanderson Sisters are, we can't forget that they are the wickedest of witches.
22:0410. Mambi – Return to Oz
22:07This weirdly dark fantasy film serves as an unofficial sequel to the classic original,
22:12and it borrows elements from L. Frank Baum's Oz novels.
22:15For example, Mambi is an amalgamation of both Mambi of The Marvelous Land of Oz
22:20and Princess Languidere from Ozma of Oz.
22:23I don't remember her.
22:25Take us to Mambi.
22:27No! No!
22:29Mambi proves one of Disney's scariest villains,
22:32altering her physical appearance by swapping out a collection of human heads.
22:36What do you think?
22:40I think you're very beautiful.
22:43I should hope so.
22:45She eventually locks Dorothy in her tower with the hope of adding hers to the stock in the future.
22:50You will be rather attractive.
22:54One day.
22:56Not at all beautiful, you understand, but you'll have a certain prettiness.
23:01Different from my other heads.
23:04Return to Oz is often criticized for being too dark and unsettling.
23:09It's no surprise considering Mambi's habits.
23:129. Lady Tremaine – Cinderella
23:15A definitive Disney film,
23:17Cinderella contains some of the greatest villains in the company's history.
23:21The evil stepsisters are truly despicable pieces of work,
23:25and their mother, Lady Tremaine, is somehow even worse.
23:29That's quite enough.
23:31Hurry along now, both of you.
23:33I won't have you upsetting yourselves.
23:36Like Madame Medusa, Lady Tremaine is a very grounded Disney villain
23:40who doesn't resort to world-ending schemes.
23:43Rather, she simply takes pleasure in psychologically tormenting her unfortunate stepdaughter,
23:48all because Cinderella is prettier than her biological daughters.
23:51Now let me see.
23:54There's the large carpet in the main hall.
23:57Clean it.
23:59And the windows upstairs and down.
24:02Wash them.
24:04The story of Cinderella has remained unendingly popular owing to its relatable nature,
24:09complete with a 2015 live-action remake,
24:11in which Cate Blanchett brought Tremaine's domineering persona to life.
24:15Oh, it seems too much to expect you to prepare breakfast, serve it, and still sit with us.
24:21Wouldn't you prefer to eat when all the work is done, Ella?
24:24Or should I say Cinderella?
24:26Lady Tremaine is, unfortunately, one of Disney's most tragically realistic villains.
24:362010's Alice in Wonderland is the movie that kicked off the live-action Disney remakes,
24:41earning praise for its visuals and grossing over $1 billion.
24:46It also contained a fantastic villain in The Red Queen.
24:49Go to his house and collect the little ones.
24:50I love tadpoles on toast almost as much as I love caviar.
24:53She is an amalgamation of Lewis Carroll's Red Queen, the Duchess, and the Queen of Hearts,
24:58who herself was the villain of the 1951 original.
25:01Played by a very odd-looking Helena Bonham Carter,
25:04The Red Queen is a tyrannical ruler with a penchant for ordering executions.
25:09Where is Alice?
25:11Who's that wee little boy?
25:14I wouldn't know.
25:16What if I take off your head? Will you know then?
25:18Anyone caught disobeying her rule is beheaded, and her paranoia means that no one is safe.
25:23She's unpredictable, she's dangerous, and she's very, very crazy.
25:28In short, she's the perfect Disney villain.
25:31Your white stain. It is far better to be feared than loved.
25:39One of Disney's most creative and self-aware efforts,
25:42Enchanted is an animated live-action comedy
25:45that sees a prototype Disney princess being transplanted in modern-day New York City.
25:50Where did you send her?
25:52To a place where there are no happily-ever-afters.
25:57Likewise, the film's main antagonist, Queen Narissa,
26:00is the prototypical Disney villain,
26:02a combination of Maleficent and the evil Queen from Snow White.
26:06Like Maleficent, Narissa is a master of dark magic and can turn into a dragon.
26:11You're crazy!
26:12No, spiteful, vindictive, very large, but never crazy.
26:17Like the evil Queen, she displays skill in alchemy
26:20and makes poison apples in the hopes of killing Giselle.
26:23And of course, all this hatred stems from a desire to cling to power.
26:27Oh, so this is the little forest rat who thinks she can steal my throne.
26:37By serving as a tribute to the Disney villain archetype,
26:40Narissa displays their best, or rather, worst traits.
26:48Mother may indeed know best,
26:50but we wouldn't recommend listening to Mother Gothel.
26:53If he's lying, don't come crying!
26:59Gothel is an old, creepy crone
27:01who locked away Rapunzel to harness the power of her magic hair.
27:05Rapunzel's hair harbors the healing properties of the sundrop flower,
27:09allowing Gothel to retain a youthful appearance.
27:12Gothel had found her new magic flower,
27:14but this time, she was determined to keep it hidden.
27:18She brainwashes Rapunzel into fearing the outside world
27:21and keeps her trapped in the tower for nearly 20 years,
27:24taking on a matronly personality
27:26and utilizing subtle tricks like guilt trips
27:29to keep Rapunzel an obedient daughter.
27:31I love you very much, dear.
27:34I love you more.
27:36I love you most.
27:39We're not sure what's worse,
27:41kidnapping, imprisoning, and gaslighting a child for decades,
27:45or doing it all for the sake of vanity.
27:52Despite Disney entering a bit of a dark age around the new millennium,
27:55Yzma remains one of the company's most popular villains.
27:59She shares many similarities with Disney villains of old,
28:02wishing to usurp the throne from Emperor Kuzco
28:05and utilizing some magical potions to carry out her nefarious deeds.
28:10This isn't poison.
28:12This is extract of...
28:14Llama!
28:16You know, in my defense, your poisons all look alike.
28:19You might think about relabeling some of them.
28:21But what sets Yzma apart from the others
28:23is the comedic way in which she's depicted.
28:26She often resorts to overly elaborate plans,
28:29grows increasingly irritated with the dim-witted Kronk,
28:32and has a comically eccentric personality.
28:35And many of her catchphrases have become popular within the pop culture vernacular.
28:39Pull the lever, Kronk.
28:42Wrong lever!
28:44In many ways, Yzma is the most unique Disney villain of the modern era.
28:49I know. It's called a cruel irony, like my dependence on you.
28:54Number 4. Cruella de Vil, 101 Dalmatians
28:58Cruella de Vil is easily one of Disney's best baddies.
29:02No matter what version it is,
29:04whether it's the Glenn Close iteration from the 1996 adaptation
29:08or the Emma Stone one from the 2021 origin story,
29:11Cruella de Vil remains a captivating character.
29:15To see her is to take a sudden chill.
29:19It's hard to say just what makes her so endlessly interesting.
29:22Maybe it's her complete insanity in being the very embodiment of selfish greed.
29:27Maybe it's her psychotic motivation of kidnapping puppies
29:30for the sake of a luxurious fur coat.
29:32My only true love, darling. I live for furs. I worship furs.
29:38Or maybe it's just her unique physical appearance,
29:41complete with her signature black and white hair.
29:44Either way, Cruella de Vil has remained a Disney icon for half a century.
29:49I'll get even. Just wait. You'll be sorry.
29:52You fools! You... you idiots!
29:56Number 3. The Evil Queen, a.k.a. Queen Grimhilda, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
30:03Despite being released before World War II,
30:05Snow White and its characters have remained quintessential Disney properties.
30:10One bite, and all your dreams will come true.
30:15Perhaps it's the quality of the story and characters themselves,
30:18or perhaps it's the fact that Snow White was the first full-length Disney film.
30:23As such, the Evil Queen holds the distinction of being the first Disney villain,
30:27and she remains one of the best.
30:29Her physical appearance is iconic, complete with her purple gown and black cloak,
30:34and her poison apple scheme remains one of the most famous in the Disney canon.
30:39Breath will still. A blood can heal.
30:42Then I'll be perished in the land.
30:48Furthermore, while often misquoted,
30:50she gave us one of the most recognizable lines in all of movie history.
30:55Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?
31:01Number 2. Ursula, the Little Mermaid
31:04With her six squid tentacles and devious agenda,
31:07Ursula is both physically and morally revolting.
31:11She often strikes dubious deals with the merpeople of the sea,
31:14later turning them into creepy polyp figures that inhabit her underground lair.
31:19Yes, I've had my own complaints, but on the whole, I've been unsaved.
31:25She also provides one of the scariest climaxes in Disney history,
31:29as she uses Triton's trident to grow to a massive size.
31:33Now I am the ruler of all the oceans.
31:37The waves will play my every whim.
31:40It makes for a blood-chilling visual,
31:42and it renders both Eric and Ariel completely powerless.
31:46Ursula's flamboyant personality is also quite unique within the Disney canon,
31:51with popular drag queen Divine being a major source of inspiration for the character.
31:56And let's be serious, Poor Unfortunate Souls is an absolute banger.
32:01The boss is on a roll.
32:05This Poor Unfortunate Souls

32:31Number 1. Maleficent – Sleeping Beauty
32:34Perhaps the most iconic Disney villain of all time,
32:37Maleficent serves as the very embodiment of evil.
32:41It's in her very name, after all.
32:45Listen well, all of you.
32:49The 2014 movie provides a very interesting twist on the Sleeping Beauty story
32:53by telling it from Maleficent's perspective.
32:56But the original incarnation will forever remain the greatest.
33:00Now shall you deal with me, your prince,
33:04and all the powers of hell!
33:14Everything about her is timeless and classic.
33:17There's her physical appearance,
33:19which includes the instantly recognizable black and purple outfit and yellow eyes.
33:23There are her magical powers,
33:26which includes the ability to turn into a massive, fire-breathing dragon.
33:30And of course, there's the horned headdress that makes her look like a demon,
33:34perfectly representing her devilish character.
33:46With a title like that, we have to say she nailed it.
