Palestinian state recognition can influence 'wave' of support from other countries, say analyst

Spain, Ireland and Norway officially recognised a Palestinian state on Tuesday (May 28) and said they sought to accelerate efforts to secure a ceasefire in Israel's war with Hamas in Gaza which is now in its eight month.
Assistant Professor of Human Rights Law and Public International Law at Utrecht University, Kushtrim Istrefi, said the recognition holds "legal and political significance and is not merely symbolic" and other states could soon follow suit.
