00:42The Supreme Court allows the transfer of doomsday preacher Apollo Cabello's sexual and child
00:47abuse cases from Davao City to Quezon City.
00:50In its order, the SC says, it finds compelling reasons for the transfer since the cases involve
00:55public interest with the accused, a well-known religious leader, being influential in the
00:59area.
01:00The SC adds, there is a strong possibility witnesses cannot freely testify.
01:05Davao City is Cabello's turf.
01:07His Kingdom of Jesus Christ, as well as its media arm, the Sunshine Media Network International
01:13or SMNI, is based in the city.
01:15Cabello is also a known ally of the Duterte family.
01:18Cabello has yet to be arrested despite the standing warrants against him.
01:22The pastor also faces a non-bailable human trafficking case pending in Pasig City.
01:28Meantime, one of Cabello's aides, Crescente N. Tencanada, surrendered 21 firearms to authorities
01:33over the weekend.
01:37President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signs into law a bill seeking to expand protections for
01:41workers in the movie and television industry.
01:44The law was born amid calls for reform after the untimely death of screen legend Eddie
01:49Garcia.
01:50Garcia died at the age of 90 in June 2019 after tripping on a cable while taping for
01:55a soap opera.
01:56The incident could have been avoided had media giant GMA Network complied with occupational
02:01safety standards.
02:03The new legislation also requires employers to comply with occupational safety and health
02:07standards provided in RA 11058 and 11036.
02:12The Republic Act 11996, or the Eddie Garcia Law, stipulates that work hours can only be
02:18extended to a maximum of 14 hours per day, exclusive of meal periods.
02:23The measure mandates employers to pay workers if a shoot is cancelled less than eight hours
02:28before schedule, unless it's due to force majeure.
02:33Thousands of residents in Papua New Guinea are ordered to evacuate from the path of a
02:36still-active landslide after parts of a mountain collapsed, burying an initial estimate of
02:42more than 2,000 people.
02:44Relief teams have been trickling into the northern Angkor region since Friday, though
02:47officials say the odds of finding survivors are slim as the area is difficult to access.
02:53Residents say they have been using shovels and bare hands to search for survivors.
02:57A state of emergency has been declared across the disaster zone and a neighboring area,
03:02with a combined population of between 4,500 to 8,000, although not all have been ordered
03:07to evacuate yet.
03:09Heavy equipment and aid has been slow to arrive due to the remote location and treacherous
03:13terrain.
03:14Tribal unrest in the area also prompts the military to escort the convoys of relief teams.
03:21Six Filipino Dishes makes it to Taste Atlas' 50 Best Pork Dishes in the World list for
03:262024.
03:27Lechon is in 29th place with 4.3 stars, Lechon Kawali Follows in 33rd place, Bicol Express
03:35in 34th, Inihaw na Liempo in 40th, Adobong Baboy in 42nd, and Sisig in 46th place.
03:42In first place this year is Colombia's Lechona, which is similar to our Lechon.
03:47Other notable global dishes also on the list are Singapore's Braised Pork Belly, Enchara
03:52Siu, Mexico's Carnitas, Korea's Samgyupsal, Ogyupsal, and Moksal, Japan's Tonkatsu, and
03:58USA's Pulled Pork.
04:00Taste Atlas is an online gastronomic database that promotes local culinary culture.
04:07The son of veteran actress Eva Darin urges organizers of the Filipino Academy of Movie
04:12Arts and Sciences or FAMAS to quote, stick to the script, and maybe a nice pair of eyeglasses
04:17for all in charge.
04:19This as the family accepts the apology of organizers of the awards night.
04:23FAMAS issued a public apology and explained their production team failed to locate Darin
04:28during the live show.
04:30FAMAS admitted there was a quote, negligence on their part, but added the incident was
04:34not intentional.
04:36But Darin's son, Fernando de la Peña, notes his mother was seated on a table front and
04:41center adjacent to the stage.
04:43De la Peña thanks his mother's supporters and says the family accepts the olive branch
04:47FAMAS extended.
04:49Darin's son also says no one else should go through the same incomprehensible, unexpected,
04:54unimaginable experience.
04:56And that's today's wrap.
04:59I'm Kara Oliver, thank you for watching.
