00:03 The Timberwolves were able to do a little,
00:06 as we like to say, Joe, extend, extend, extend,
00:10 and give us at least one more NBA game before those finals.
00:13 There will be a game five tomorrow night in Minneapolis.
00:17 And why?
00:18 Because Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves
00:20 get it done, 105 to 100.
00:22 Once again, another game very close, late,
00:25 under a minute to go.
00:26 One possession game, not any more for Anthony Edwards
00:28 on TNT.
00:30 [INAUDIBLE] set a screen.
00:31 [INAUDIBLE]
00:33 Edwards, another screen.
00:35 A two.
00:36 Come on!
00:37 That's huge.
00:38 Big time shot.
00:39 That is absolutely huge.
00:43 Now, that was a big time shot, Joe.
00:45 There's no doubt about it.
00:46 Edwards had 29, 10, and 9.
00:48 But really, what changed for Minnesota in this game
00:51 was that they actually got something out of Carl Anthony
00:54 Towns, who also hit a couple of very big shots
00:58 down the stretch in that fourth quarter.
01:00 He ended up going 9 for 13 from the floor for 25 points.
01:03 He hit four threes.
01:04 That was after 48 hours of talking
01:06 about how miserable he had been the entire series.
01:09 So big night all around for the Timberwolves, Joe.
01:12 And they get themselves back home for a game five,
01:14 down 3-1.
01:15 Yeah, and we'll see how it plays out, Carver, right?
01:18 We almost missed that parlay a couple of nights
01:20 ago in game number three.
01:22 We were so close with it.
01:23 Too bad Edwards couldn't step up like that
01:26 in the fourth quarter, right?
01:27 We might have had a shot.
01:28 He had 22 and finished with 26.
01:31 Amazing that we didn't catch that.
01:33 But the biggest thing for me, too--
01:35 and you're right about Carl Anthony Towns at least
01:38 taking some of the pressure off of Anthony Edwards--
01:41 we need to get better productivity at Akairi
01:44 as it relates to threes.
01:45 He hasn't really nailed a lot of threes in this series.
01:49 But you don't want Minnesota to creep back in.
01:51 I know he's been scoring, but he needs
01:53 to be a little bit more consistent
01:55 beyond the arc and the perimeter.
01:57 If we can get that, I think Dallas
01:59 will close it out in Minnesota.
02:02 Yeah, I think it's very possible.
02:04 He was 1 for 6 from 3 last night, Joe,
02:06 as you're talking about.
02:07 The three ball just really hasn't been there for him
02:10 so far, that's for sure.
02:13 Luka had 28, 15, and 10 for Luka last night
02:17 as he goes for the triple-double.
02:20 Let's hear-- you know, the one thing that's actually fun
02:23 when the Timberwolves win is you do
02:25 get some entertaining press conferences from Anthony
02:30 Edwards and Carl Anthony Towns, and usually together.
02:32 And look, despite being down 3-1,
02:35 they know they still got a lot of work to do.
02:37 But it was nice to celebrate a win.
02:39 First, here's the both of them talking up
02:41 Mike Connelly, who had a big night, the veteran
02:44 leadership on Minnesota.
02:45 Y'all got any questions for Mike?
02:47 Y'all want to ask me about Mike?
02:49 Nobody want to ask me about Mike?
02:50 Bye-bye.
02:51 How about Mike, especially in the first half?
02:53 It seemed like he really--
02:54 [INTERPOSING VOICES]
02:55 --was confident, huh?
02:56 [INTERPOSING VOICES]
02:59 And he was getting downhill, laying the ball up.
03:04 So shout-out to Byte-Byte.
03:06 And he coming in here with these clown pants on.
03:09 So y'all about to see him in a minute.
03:10 But that's my OG.
03:11 That's my point guard.
03:12 He played great tonight, and I couldn't
03:14 ask nothing more from him.
03:15 So thank you, Mike Connelly.
03:17 The young guys going after Mike there--
03:20 what do you call him there, Joe?
03:21 Byte-Byte?
03:22 He called him Byte-Byte.
03:23 I don't know.
03:24 Connelly is older than dirt.
03:26 Let's just call it what it is, by NBA terms.
03:29 Older than dirt.
03:31 I'm glad you added that, by NBA terms.
03:34 You made sure that you put that in at the end.
03:37 If he was a fighter, he'd be past his prime.
03:40 You know that as well as anybody.
03:42 How about tennis?
03:43 If he was a tennis player, he'd be past his prime.
03:45 36, Joe.
03:47 He's 36 years old.
03:48 He's old.
03:49 It's old.
03:50 It's old.
03:51 There's no bouncing the stuff anymore from Connelly.
03:54 Guys bounced around.
03:55 How many NBA teams?
03:57 I mean, come on.
03:58 Played pretty well last night.
04:00 He played pretty well last night.
04:02 You know, you can say that.
04:04 He cost me a sweep.
04:05 I wanted to be the one that I said it.
04:07 I said it.
04:08 Well, I'm not going to lie to you, Joe.
04:10 I was very nervous about them sweeping,
04:14 because after what I did to you, no shot.
04:16 They got no shot of sweeping him.
04:18 What are you talking about?
04:19 And I laid low on it.
04:21 Said nothing to you, even after the 3-0.
04:24 I didn't want to say a word to you.
04:26 And sure enough, now we can go back to-- let's just
04:28 win the series for Dallas.
04:29 Because me and you have plenty of Dallas investment
04:33 going forward here, both with the NBA and with the hockey.
04:37 One more from Ant.
04:38 You said the guys are feeling confident.
04:41 Well, they are feeling very confident.
04:43 I even saw the clip that you're going to reference here,
04:45 where he was in the hallway with Micah Parsons.
04:48 We'll see you back here for game six, all that stuff.
04:50 Here's Anthony Edwards.
04:51 You told somebody in the hallway
04:52 you were seeing him for game six.
04:53 Where does that confidence come from?
04:56 What am I supposed to say?
04:57 I'm supposed to say, we're going to lose game five?
05:00 No, I'm not going to never say that.
05:03 Micah Parsons, he was rocking the 81s.
05:06 And I told him he wears size 14.
05:07 I'll bring back some nice shoes for game six.
05:09 That's what I told him.
05:10 You'll bring him back some shoes, Joe.
05:15 Micah's sitting in the front row.
05:16 You'll bring him back some shoes.
05:17 Can we call-- I love Anthony Edwards,
05:19 but not when he's talking against my ticket.
05:21 Can we just shut him up already and just close it out 4-1?
05:25 Kyrie, can you drop 35?
05:26 Can you go four threes?
05:28 Four of seven from three.
05:30 Drop in 35 at plus 280 or 320.
05:34 Let's win a big ticket.
05:35 Let's not let this team talk and chirp.
05:38 I hate when players chirp.
05:40 You're down 3-1.
05:41 Shut up and play the game and don't chirp.
05:44 He's chirping like he's up 3-1.
05:47 Shut him up already.
05:48 Will you be nervous if it goes back to Dallas 3-2?
05:54 Will you be nervous?
05:55 No.
05:56 No.
05:56 No.
05:57 No nervous.
05:57 OK.
05:59 Back to Minnesota for game seven.
06:01 Well, then, yeah.
06:04 Then I'd be a little nervous.
06:06 Then I'd have a little sweat in the shorts, Carver.
06:08 I'd have a little sweat in the shorts.
06:10 Here's the thing, Carver.
06:11 You know this as well as any-- I said that this game,
06:14 or this series, was going to be won or lost with the backcourt.
06:17 And I still believe that.
06:18 I don't think they have an answer defensively
06:21 for Luka and Kyrie when they are bullhogs.
06:24 That's the bottom line.
06:25 When they start spreading it to PJ Washington
06:28 and everybody else, that's where the Dallas gets into trouble.
06:32 If they just become bullhogs and take every possession
06:36 and close it out and score 70 of the team's 100 points,
06:40 then I think that's what it takes to win.
06:42 I think they can win that type of game plan.
06:44 But we need Luka shooting 30, and we need Kyrie to hit 28
06:48 in terms of attempts.
06:49 And we got it done.
06:52 Here is Luka after the game, Joe.
06:55 Luka last night, of course, he takes most of the blame
06:58 and is not clearly worried about the mindset of his team
07:02 going into the next game.
07:04 That's fine.
07:05 I think that game is on me.
07:08 Just didn't give enough energy.
07:10 No energy, huh?
07:12 So we got to do better.
07:13 We won one game.
07:15 We just got to focus on the next one.
07:16 Luka, what's the mindset going into Minnesota?
07:21 We got to win four games.
07:23 What mindset?
07:26 We got to win one more game.
07:28 What?
07:29 That's it.
07:29 Just got to win one more game, Joe.
07:31 That's it.
07:31 What mindset?
07:32 You better be a pig.
07:32 I swear.
07:33 I better not see 12 points by the end of the second quarter.
07:36 I'll tell you that right now.
07:37 I want to see 18, 19.
07:39 I want to be a pig.
07:41 Pig is good.
07:42 Look, the proof's in the pudding, Joe.
07:45 Like, I could tell, too, just watching that game last night
07:49 and looking at the numbers and looking at--
07:51 you could tell in the first three games
07:53 where the Kyrie and Luka numbers were at halftime
07:56 and in the third quarter.
07:58 And when they're getting that kind of production,
08:00 they're going to win the game.
08:01 And they weren't getting as much, obviously,
08:04 on the Kyrie side last night.
08:07 And they need that.
08:08 That's how they win with both of those guys, as you said,
08:11 being a pig and taking over the game.
08:13 (upbeat music)
