Brothers Medwin Marfil and Eugene Marfil of True Faith talk about the story behind Perfect.

Funny how a keyboard riff can instantly inspire a songwriter and mouth the right words for a new song that would later capture the hearts of many. Check out this episode for more about the story. And if you're catching the drift, get ready to wallow in nostalgia as you step back all the way down to your high school and college days.

It's another decade. And thankfully, like many other talented and accomplished OPM artists, True Faith continues to grace the Filipino audience with their kind of sound that never fails to reflect the sentimental character of Original Pinoy Music.

Current members: Medwin Marfil (lead vocals); Eugene Marfil (acoustic guitar/vocals); Macky Macaventa (bass guitar); Allan Elgar (lead guitar); Jake Lumacad (keyboards); Kaka Quisumbing (drums)

00:00 The first time I heard it, I was like, "Wow, that sounds heavenly. That sounds really nice."
00:03 It was like serendipity.
00:08 Francis Guevara has some files of music that he made, some snippets of bits of melody,
00:25 keyboard riffs, because he was a keyboardist at that time. He let me listen to that riff.
00:29 I was like, "Wow, that sounds heavenly. That sounds really nice."
00:38 It was like serendipity. I just thought, "Off the line, you are perfect."
00:48 And I sang on top of that. While he was playing that file, I said, "You are perfect."
00:56 When "Perfect" became a hit on radio, I transferred from the main campus of La Salle to
01:07 Binild. When people in Binild learned that it was me who sang "Perfect," which is already a big hit
01:14 R&B, and everyone was listening to 99.5 R&B at that time. When "Perfect" came out, the DJs didn't
01:20 tell the people that it was a local band. Everybody was thinking that this was a foreign
01:26 band. It sounded foreign, sounded new. People were debating whether it was local or it was
01:34 foreign band. I remember I was dating somebody, and it was on the radio, and she was listening
01:39 to it. I told her, "That's a local band." She says, "No, that's not a local band. That's a
01:45 foreign band." I told her, "That's a local band. My brother is singing." She insisted. She kept on
01:50 insisting. I kept telling her, "That's my brother singing." I can't remember how the argument ended.
01:56 But yeah, eventually she found out that it was my brother singing. Not only was it huge in La
02:01 Salle, it was huge everywhere. We got invited to different schools. When people learned that
02:06 it was me who sang it, everyone was calling me Mr. Perfect. Tita Dua was one of the supermodels
02:18 of the Philippine fashion industry. It was such a big honor that she came on board, and she did
02:23 for free. She was very popular at that time because she was on the TV sitcom, "Ogey Ka Ferry Ko."
02:29 Such a huge honor that she came and said, "I'm waiving my talent to you for this because it's
02:34 going to be huge. It's going to be a nice project. Watch it on YouTube." It's still a good-looking video.
02:38 It's because of their support. It's because of your support that we're still here.
02:48 And it's because of you playing our music in your cars, in your houses, that the younger
02:54 generation are also aware of us. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the support that the fans
02:59 have given us. And those who are casual fans, thank you. We're living our passion because of you guys.
03:06 Thank you, and we'll do our part as well.
03:07 Hello, I'm Medz. I'm Eugene of the band, Trupe. Please like and subscribe to OG's YouTube channel.
