00:00 "Alright Meg, that's enough. You've had your little dramatic outburst."
00:03 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most deplorable things
00:08 that poor Meg was forced to deal with on Family Guy.
00:11 "Don't be ridiculous. I'll keep him company till you get back. Goodbye, Meg."
00:15 Number 30. Rejected for not owning a Prada bag.
00:20 "Daddy, if you really love me, you buy me a Prada bag."
00:23 "I can't say no to you, honey. What are they, like 10 bucks?"
00:25 "More like 11. 100."
00:28 "Hahaha, you wish I loved you that much."
00:32 Teenagers can be incredibly mean, as evidenced by Season 2's "Love Thy Trophy."
00:37 Meg is made fun of for not owning a Prada bag, with one girl commenting on her, quote,
00:42 "big ugly purse." As such, she's not invited to lunch. To make matters worse,
00:47 she's then smacked in the face by a teacher's bag as she runs off to join the girls.
00:51 "Meg, let me tell you about popularity."
00:53 "Mrs. Kanner, are you coming?"
00:55 "Bye."
00:56 Wanting to fit in and buy her own Prada, Meg gets a job at a pancake restaurant.
01:01 She eventually gets her own bag, but as is befitting her luck,
01:05 she's forced to give it up to get Stewie out of foster care.
01:08 Granted, it's partly her fault that Stewie is in there in the first place,
01:11 so we can't feel too bad.
01:13 Number 29. Abandoned during a family call.
01:17 "Hey guys, is everyone on the phone?"
01:18 "Oh, I gotta go."
01:19 "Something's in the oven."
01:20 "I lost a shoe."
01:21 "No, don't leave me on the phone with her."
01:22 In season 4's "Jungle Love," Chris joins the Peace Corps and goes to South America.
01:27 He calls Lois to check in, and both Peter and Stewie join the call to great enthusiasm.
01:32 They ask Chris about his adventure and seem like a happy family unit, until Meg joins the call.
01:37 Chris, Lois, and Peter all make excuses and hang up, leaving Stewie alone on the call with Meg.
01:43 He makes his displeasure known, openly telling the other family members not to leave him alone
01:48 with her. Even the baby wants nothing to do with her. That can't feel good.
01:53 "Listen, I am swamped, but uh, mom has kept me up to date on everything you're doing,
01:58 and I think it's just great. Hanging up now."
02:01 Number 28. Rejected by Brian.
02:04 "How was school?"
02:05 "It was horrible. There's a dance Friday night and no one wants to go with me.
02:10 Even my backup guy had plans."
02:12 Never mind the baby, she's even rejected by the dog. And dogs love everybody.
02:17 Brian goes to the junior prom with Meg, feeling sorry that she doesn't have a date.
02:22 He gets drunk to make it through the night and eventually stands up for Meg when she's
02:25 insulted by Connie. The two then share a passionate kiss. Having been shown even the
02:31 slightest amount of respect and attention, Meg becomes utterly obsessed with Brian.
02:36 That's pretty sad in and of itself, but it gets worse. Meg resorts to increasingly creepy behavior,
02:42 forcing a desperate Brian to reject her advances. Just when she thought she had found a companion,
02:48 the rug was pulled right out from under her.
02:50 "What's that, Brian? Oh, you were just kidding. I know you were.
02:55 I love you too, Brian. And you love me. You do love me, Brian."
03:01 Number 27. Her newspaper is hijacked by her own father.
03:05 "Now, to get this story on the school editor's desk,
03:08 it's gonna take a portion of my cunning. No, no, all my cunning."
03:13 Meg tries hard, but nothing ever seems to work out for the poor girl.
03:17 Needing more extracurricular activities to attend university, Meg decides to write for
03:21 the school newspaper. She makes a serious attempt at investigative journalism,
03:26 focusing her sights on a scandal in the mayor's office. But finding this noir-esque story very
03:31 boring, Peter hijacks the newspaper and turns it into a sensational tabloid. Not only that,
03:37 he runs a libelous story about actor Luke Perry hiding his sexual orientation.
03:42 Unsurprisingly, the story gets them in serious trouble when Perry decides to sue.
03:46 So much for a career in journalism.
03:48 "Oh my god, Meg Griffin, you are so sued."
03:53 [Singing]
03:59 Number 26. Belittled and fired by Peter.
04:02 "So she gets along with everybody?"
04:03 "She does not get along with everybody."
04:05 "She's kinda hot."
04:06 "She's office hot."
04:07 "Yeah, you're right."
04:07 "She's the only woman around."
04:08 "Yeah, in the real world, she doesn't hold up."
04:10 "In addition to everything else, she's got B.O."
04:12 When Lois lands a job at Fox News, Peter sees an opportunity for himself.
04:16 Hoping to utilize Lois' connections, he begins thinking up ideas for a cartoon that he can
04:21 pitch to the network. He brings in both Meg and Chris to help with ideas, and this goes about
04:26 as well as you would expect. Peter and Chris bond over their ridiculous and offensive ideas,
04:31 while Peter finds Meg's suggestions incredibly boring. Not only that, Peter criticizes her
04:37 looks and body odor. He eventually fires her from the committee, which comes as a surprise
04:42 to absolutely no one.
04:44 "Meg, your services will no longer be needed."
04:45 Number 25. The entire 15 minutes of shame.
04:53 "It's it! I want those cameras off!"
04:56 "Fourth wall! You're breaking the fourth wall!"
04:59 Meg's mistreatment is at the heart of season two's 15 minutes of shame. Meg is constantly
05:05 embarrassed by Peter, like when he walks around naked and gets stuck in the stairs during a
05:09 sleepover. Hoping to work out their dysfunction, Meg gets the family on Diane's talk show.
05:14 This doesn't go the way she wants, as the Griffins get their own reality TV show and
05:19 Meg is replaced by a sexy actress. This replacement is happily accepted by the Griffins, and they
05:25 even ignore Meg in public, telling her they can't be seen together.
05:29 "Why are we here?"
05:30 "No cameras! The TV executives don't want viewers to get confused and think you're
05:34 Meg Griffin."
05:35 Unable to find a place to stay, she then becomes unhoused. The family eventually kisses
05:40 and makes up, but this entire episode is a tough one for the poor teenager.
05:44 "She's like that dorky Baldwin brother who isn't as good looking or successful and
05:48 never answers my letters, but he's still a Baldwin, damn it! And so is Meg. Let's
05:52 go get her back!"
05:53 Number 24. Thrown off a boat.
05:56 "It's working!"
05:57 "Just need a little more."
05:58 "We love you, honey!"
06:02 The Griffin family enters a boat race against Carter Puderschmidt, but their bathtub with
06:06 a sail fails to outrace Carter's yacht. Hoping to lose some weight and gain speed,
06:11 the family ditches their life jackets. Realizing they need to lose just a little more weight,
06:17 Peter grabs Meg and tosses her overboard, without the life jacket that he made her take
06:21 off. But it's not just Peter who's to blame. No one seems to care that Meg was thrown
06:26 overboard, as everybody cheers when they win the race. The sacrifice was clearly worth
06:31 it for them, and to make matters worse, Meg is eventually fished out of the ocean and
06:36 mistaken for a manatee.
06:38 "What is it, sir?"
06:39 "That's what we call a manatee, boys. Or in nautical slang, the sea cow."
06:43 Number 23. Scammed by Ivan.
06:47 "Ah, so you got green card marriage, huh?"
06:49 "That's right. American cow fell for it."
06:52 It's rare for Family Guy to do multi-episode story arcs, but that's what we got with
06:57 Ivan Treacher. We first meet Ivan when he hacks and scams Brian, but it's Meg who
07:02 takes the brunt of the damage, of course. Ivan falls for Meg and she gleefully reciprocates,
07:07 even leaving her old life behind to stay with him in Russia. The two eventually get hitched,
07:12 and it seems like Meg has finally found some degree of happiness. Of course, this is not
07:17 the case, as both we and Meg learn that Ivan is simply using her for a green card marriage.
07:22 Foiled yet again. Only Meg doesn't take this one lying down, and has Ivan assassinated
07:28 by Russian soldiers.
07:29 "Oh my god, this whole thing was just another scam?"
07:32 "I'll give you something to laugh about."
07:36 "What the- oh no!"
07:42 Number 22. Kidnapped by her own brother.
07:45 "What is it?"
07:46 "Let's talk about it in the van."
07:47 "Chris, what are you doing?"
07:51 Like 15 Minutes of Shame, Better Off Meg is an entire episode dedicated to the titular
07:56 character's mistreatment. Meg is presumed dead owing to a driver's license mix-up,
08:01 but her funeral is poorly attended. Realizing that she is unloved, Meg decides to strike out
08:06 on her own and forge a new identity. Our hearts are already breaking by this point, but it gets
08:11 worse. Chris becomes enormously popular at school, with Meg's death bringing him a lot of attention.
08:18 Meg eventually becomes homesick and contacts Chris, but he doesn't want to lose his newfound
08:22 popularity, so he throws her into a moving van and has her tied up in a creepy warehouse.
08:28 Well, we know where his priorities lie.
08:31 "Where is everyone?"
08:32 "Damn it, Chris, I don't care that you're popular now. Let me out of here!"
08:37 Number 21. Being sucked into space.
08:40 "Hey Brian, check it out. Meg's poking around the cargo hold. I'm gonna give her a little scare."
08:45 Sooner or later, every franchise goes to space. Chris attends space camp and gives his family a
08:50 tour of a shuttle. During the tour, Stewie presses a shiny red button and launches the family into
08:55 space, leading to an Apollo 13-esque storyline in which mission control tries to get them back.
09:00 But while they're up in the shuttle, Stewie decides to kill some time by pranking Meg.
09:05 Finding her in the cargo hold, he decides to open the bay doors to "give her a little scare."
09:11 But instead of a little scare, Meg is jettisoned off into the vacuum of space.
09:16 Stunned by the development, Stewie can only open his eyes in horror.
09:21 But hey, at least he reacted, right?
09:23 Number 20. Rejected by her own stuffed animals.
09:32 "Oh, this is gonna be great! We'll stay up late, trade stories!"
09:35 Meg is frequently demonstrated to be a lonely and unloved character.
09:39 One cutaway gag takes this to the next level, showing that the "friends" she claims to have
09:44 are merely stuffed animals. As if this weren't sad enough, the toys then come to life,
09:49 a la Toy Story, and escape from Meg through the window.
09:53 Worst of all, Sunshine Bear, a Care Bear look-alike, is called out to by Meg.
09:57 And rather than remain and care, the animate toy throws itself in front of a passing truck.
10:06 Number 19. Getting the mumps because she wasn't vaccinated.
10:10 "Meg, come take your picture with this space alien guy!"
10:12 While at a convention, Peter forces Meg to take a photo with a man with the mumps,
10:16 infecting her with the disease, which Peter never bothered vaccinating her for as a child.
10:21 This forces Meg to suffer through the painful swelling and remain bedridden,
10:25 where, instead of being understanding, her family mocks her, and in Peter's case,
10:30 continues his casual abuse of her, with her only solace being religion she finds on TV.
10:35 "This is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!"
10:40 Number 18. Forced to drive her dad and his friends around.
10:43 "Will you guys just shut up back there?!"
10:45 After Peter loses his driver's license doing something typically moronic and dangerous,
10:49 Meg is forced to act as her father's personal chauffeur,
10:52 driving him and his friends around on their drunken escapades.
10:55 While doing so, Meg must endure their childish antics,
10:58 which include setting her hat on fire while she's driving and then having beer poured on it.
11:03 This in particular leads her to get into an accident
11:06 and prompts her to take out her repressed rage on the other driver.
11:09 "Meg, that was awesome!"
11:12 Number 17. Sad surprise party.
11:15 "Hey, what's with all the cars on the street?"
11:17 "Oh, they're all here for your surprise party, Meg."
11:19 While birthdays are often a time of gifts and celebration with friends,
11:23 Meg's are basically the opposite.
11:25 She's had several depressing ones on the show, but the worst is arguably her 18th.
11:30 After going to the Teen Choice Awards, the family returns to an empty house,
11:33 despite attempting to arrange a surprise party,
11:36 making it clear that no one would show up voluntarily.
11:39 Although Quagmire does remember Meg's birthday,
11:41 it's clear that he's only interested in hitting on Meg now that she's an adult.
11:45 "Hey, welcome to the adult club, huh? And you know what?
11:48 You got another member right next door if you ever want to talk and stuff. Happy birthday."
11:52 Number 16. Pelted with rancid meat.
11:56 "Here we go!"
11:59 Meg's interactions with the rest of her classmates are generally negative
12:03 and frequently involve them throwing things at her,
12:05 such as when she's singled out in dodgeball.
12:08 An attempt to become popular leads Meg to try out to become a cheerleader,
12:12 but instead she's pointed towards becoming a flag girl,
12:14 the members of which are rather, let's say, offbeat.
12:18 Then, just when Meg's performing in front of the whole school,
12:21 the popular kids pelt her with rotten meat and the crowd laughs at her.
12:25 "Hey, Meg!"
12:31 Number 15. Degrading Star Wars cameos.
12:34 "Hey, it could be worse."
12:36 "It's worse."
12:39 The Family Guy Star Wars specials are among the show's best episodes
12:44 and are fun reimaginings of both classic films and the series' characters.
12:48 Like most things Family Guy, though, they don't do Meg any favors.
12:53 While most of the main cast is recast in prominent roles,
12:56 Meg is relegated to cameos as some of the Star Wars franchise's grossest monsters and creatures,
13:01 from the Trash Compactor creature to the giant space worm to the Sarlacc.
13:05 Number 14. Sent to prison for harboring a fugitive.
13:11 "Luke, what are you doing here?"
13:14 "I escaped, Meg."
13:15 Meg is incredibly desperate for love, affection or attention,
13:19 and one of her attempts to find some sees her befriend an inmate at a prison.
13:24 When the man escapes, he goes to the Griffin House to hide and to see Meg.
13:28 When the police are alerted, Meg is imprisoned for three months for harboring him.
13:32 While in prison, Meg becomes jaded and hardened,
13:35 and becomes a worse person and as bad or worse than her abusers due to the experience.
13:45 Number 13. Tricked into losing her innocence on TV as a joke.
13:50 "Hey, Meg, uh, I'm, uh, Jimmy Fallon. It's, uh, it's great to finally meet you."
13:56 Following a makeover, Meg becomes popular,
13:58 and ends up leading a band composed of the rest of the Griffin family.
14:01 Although her newfound popularity does go to her head,
14:04 she still suffers a huge embarrassment when they appear on Saturday Night Live.
14:08 Before the show, Meg is seduced by Jimmy Fallon and loses her virginity,
14:13 which is filmed and aired on the show.
14:15 Jimmy Fallon might have been smiling at the camera, but Meg certainly wasn't.
14:19 "And, uh..." "Hey, Fallon! Say goodnight, ya bum!"
14:22 "And this is for laughing and looking at the camera during every sketch you've ever been in!"
14:27 "What do you think you are, Carol Burnett?"
14:29 Number 12. Having her kidney stolen by her date on Valentine's Day.
14:34 "Do you like Coldplay?" "Uh, am I a dull white guy? Yes, I like Coldplay."
14:38 Meg finally appears to have met a nice guy off the internet,
14:41 and has a seemingly nice date with him on Valentine's Day.
14:44 Only to wake up after he's stolen her kidney.
14:47 Granted, Meg does manage to guilt trip him into spending a surprisingly nice day together,
14:51 to the point where he gives her back her kidney.
14:53 But it's still incredibly sad that this is one of the high bars for Meg's dates.
14:58 "Sorry, Meg. Black market organs are big money, and I promised my boss as a fresh kidney. No hard feelings."
15:04 Number 11. Used by a poltergeist.
15:06 "Okay, Meg. If this works, then we might just have a chance at getting Stewie back."
15:10 When spirits menace the Griffin family, surprise, surprise, because of Peter,
15:14 it's pretty traumatic for them all. But Meg especially.
15:18 When Stewie is lost on the other side after entering his closet,
15:21 the family discovers that the exit is in Meg's backside.
15:24 Peter and most of the rest of them have a field day with this,
15:27 throwing things so they come out of Meg's butt,
15:29 and using the portal to make other juvenile jokes with no regard for Meg's feelings.
15:34 "She must have taken a wrong turn at Albuquerque."
15:36 "Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"
15:39 Number 10. Dumped at a fire station for being born.
15:42 "Oh, Stewie, how exciting! Your first visit to a real fire station!"
15:47 While it can figuratively seem like Meg has been needlessly hated on since the day she was born,
15:52 this is almost literally true.
15:54 When the Griffins visit a fire station,
15:56 Lois and Peter reminisce about their children's first trips to the fire station,
15:59 revealing in a cutaway that Meg's first visit was when they attempted to abandon her as an infant.
16:04 Even if you don't like Meg, no baby deserves that.
16:08 "Yeah, you kids always loved your first trip to the fire station. You remember when we took Meg?"
16:12 Number 9. Everything she goes through during a home invasion.
16:15 "What the hell's your problem, you dumbass?"
16:17 Home invasions are trying enough,
16:19 but Meg goes through the ringer when burglars enter the Griffin house.
16:23 Firstly, she's smacked by Peter with a bat for startling him.
16:27 Then, she's sent out of the panic room to get supplies,
16:30 but not before the rest spit on her.
16:32 Meg is then held hostage by the thieves, who mistake her for a boy.
16:36 The capper is that she's arrested at the end of the evening for harassing them,
16:40 and her family doesn't care.
16:42 "Meg should probably get a lawyer."
16:43 Number 8. Rescued from being taken.
16:46 "There she is, hurry!"
16:47 Much like the film "Taken",
16:51 Meg is kidnapped and sold into sexual slavery while abroad in Paris.
16:55 Although the kidnapping itself is quite awful,
16:57 oddly, it's her rescue that makes our list.
16:59 Naturally, Peter and Lois are apathetic, so Brian and Stewie take up the task.
17:04 Yet Meg is surprised when a handsome prince wants to marry her and shower her with affection.
17:08 Of course, Stewie kills him, forcing Meg to return to her usual terrible life.
17:13 "Stewie?"
17:14 "Hi Meg."
17:15 Number 7. Being comatose after nearly drowning.
17:18 "Meg, you're a good swimmer, go get it!"
17:20 "What?"
17:20 Following a rainstorm, the Griffin house is flooded.
17:23 Rather than get out fast, Peter demands Meg grab him some beer from the fridge,
17:27 which is submerged.
17:29 After accidentally trapping herself, Meg nearly drowns,
17:32 with Peter observing this and callously not saving her immediately.
17:36 This leaves her in a coma.
17:37 Although Meg recovers, it's still a terrible case of neglect that resulted in more trauma to Meg.
17:43 While Peter does try to be nicer to her, he clearly does not stick with it.
17:47 "Oh, things are gonna be different! No more will I treat you like some kind of alien!"
17:51 Number 6. Almost killed by a fellow student.
17:55 "Um, listen, before we start, could you not hit me here?"
17:58 Meg has been picked on frequently by nearly everyone she meets,
18:02 but some of the most brutal she's experienced is from Mike,
18:05 a guy at school she accidentally angers.
18:08 Mike challenges Meg to a fight and doesn't hold anything back,
18:12 beating her half to death in front of a crowd.
18:14 It's only by using Quagmire's advice for her to use her inherent grossness,
18:18 real great for her self-esteem, that Meg is able to survive at all.
18:22 "Your kiss is definitely not on my list!"
18:25 "He's older."
18:26 Number 5. Accidentally made out with Chris.
18:29 "Okay, see you later, Mom!"
18:30 On Halloween, Meg and her friends are excited to go to a party,
18:34 despite some catcalling from Peter.
18:36 Her brother Chris attends the same party and both of them wear masks.
18:40 Unfortunately for them both, a game of spin the bottle
18:43 leads them to unknowingly spend time in a closet together.
18:46 Upon realizing this, both of them are mortified at the fact that they've made out,
18:51 and apparently other things, as well as having this fact revealed to everyone at their school.
18:56 "We're a disgrace to our family!"
18:58 "Oh, maybe I can get in on this!"
19:00 Number 4. Her boyfriend is stolen by her mother.
19:04 "Hi, Anthony."
19:05 "Hi, Mrs. Griffin."
19:06 Meg really has the worst luck with romance,
19:09 and one of the most mortifying occasions happens when she finds Anthony,
19:13 who seems to be the best and most normal guy she's ever dated.
19:17 And we know he's normal because her parents had him examined.
19:20 Lois, feeling unattractive at her age, makes a move on Anthony,
19:24 leading to a breakup with Meg.
19:26 Although Meg does take some unhealthy consolation
19:29 from having done some extreme things with him and sharing that with Lois.
19:33 "Well, when you're ready to talk."
19:36 Number 3. Sold into slavery.
19:38 "What if I sold you my daughter?"
19:40 "Huh?"
19:40 Peter is an incredibly callous idiot, particularly when it comes to Meg.
19:45 After running up a tab at Mort's pharmacy,
19:47 he offers to sell Meg to Mort's family as a slave,
19:50 since Mort's son Neil has a crush on Meg.
19:52 However, Neil's involvement with another girl makes Meg jealous enough
19:56 that she signs the contract herself,
19:58 leading to her performing unpaid, back-breaking labor.
20:01 Fortunately, Meg is able to get out of it,
20:03 but the whole experience just strikes us as terrible all around.
20:07 "You know, I thought I'd be happy being with Neil, but I'm not! This is horrible!"
20:11 Number 2. Erased from existence by God.
20:14 "Oh, you guys pulled it off. Well, a deal's a deal."
20:17 Peter's callousness towards Meg is arguably epitomized in this moment.
20:21 Peter and his friends go on a quest to find God
20:24 to force him to stop interfering with sports outcomes,
20:26 because athletes always thank God for their victory.
20:29 While they are strangely successful,
20:31 Peter also manages to extract another wish from the deity,
20:34 making Meg disappear from existence.
20:37 While Meg is obviously fine the next episode,
20:39 it's still awful to think that Peter obliterated her from reality,
20:43 no matter if it was temporary.
20:45 "Don't look at her. Don't look at her. It's okay, just go with it.
20:47 It'll all be over in a second."

21:00 and switch on notifications.
21:02 Number 1. Sacrificing her own self-worth to be the family punching bag.
21:09 "How about we talk about Chris's mother, huh? Why don't we talk about you?"
21:12 During a hurricane, the Griffins are stuck inside with no TV.
21:16 Naturally, Meg becomes the butt of jokes.
21:19 But for once, Meg tears into her family for their faults and how they treat her,
21:23 finally standing up for herself.
21:25 "You're my mother, and you took a child's trust and smashed it into bits
21:29 in a 17-year-long mission to destroy something that you killed a long time ago."
21:34 However, it's almost immediately undone,
21:36 as seeing the way they all turn on each other,
