00:00 More than £650,000 could be spent on upgrading tennis courts around Leeds. The Council is
00:08 planning to sign a grant agreement with the Lawn Tennis Association to carry out the project
00:13 on a total of 42 courts in 8 parks.
00:17 If it goes ahead, the biggest share of the money would go to round a park where £140,000
00:23 would be spent refurbishing 16 courts this summer. Courts at Beckett, Burley, Chapel
00:28 Allerton, Hare Hills and Rothwell Springhead Park would also be improved, along with Grovewood
00:34 Recreation Ground in Temple Newsome and the Hollies in Wheatwood.
00:38 Plans include resurfacing and recolouring and new fencing and nets. The courts are available
00:44 for people of all ages and abilities to use for free throughout the year, and a report
00:49 has said that more people will benefit from better facilities as a result of the investment.
00:54 A funding decision is due to be made on the 4th of June.
