00:00I'm Al Linsangan, Tubong Coron, and welcome to Coron Natural Farms.
00:23Coron Natural Farms is a learning site for agriculture.
00:28One of the initiatives of Coron Natural Farms is to develop prototypes or working models
00:35that can be copied or made by our viewers or our friends.
00:41One of the components of Coron Natural Farms is what we call a biocomposing facility.
00:46What is a biocomposing facility?
00:48This is where we store all the garbage from Coron Natural Farms.
00:53All the biodegradables are stored here.
00:57We make sure that every week, we finish what we call a biocomposing.
01:06As you can see, we have our own dates every week.
01:10We started this two months ago.
01:14After several months, all of that is black soil.
01:20One of the biggest benefits of having a biocomposing facility
01:25is that you can save on buying fertilizers.
01:29This becomes a natural fertilizer.
01:32We don't need to buy it from the agri-supply.
01:38One of the things that we have in our biocomposing facility,
01:41we have 10,000 free workers.
01:45We call them worms.
01:48This is what we call African night crawlers.
01:53They are hardworking.
01:55All of our food waste from the kitchen,
01:59we put it here.
02:01Then, we sprinkle it with soda or rice hull.
02:05After that, the worms will work on it.
02:09That will become a natural fertilizer.
02:12A very rich fertilizer.
02:14This is one of our workers here.
02:17Next, we will go to Coron Natural Farms.
02:21This is what we call aquafarming.
02:24It is a rich component.
02:26Our aquafarming is inspired by the story of Aztecs in Mexico.
02:31This is where the story of aquaponics and hydroponics began.
02:38I want to show you that we have three ponds.
02:42First, this is the pond.
02:45This is the dock.
02:46Second, this is the pond.
02:48Third, that is the pond.
02:50They are self-sufficient.
02:52We don't let them eat.
02:54Because the docks, it has a pond.
02:57Then, the other ponds will go here.
03:00It will have algae.
03:02It will serve as a natural food for the ponds.
03:05It is the same up to the pond.
03:07And these three ponds,
03:09all of its overflow will go to Palayan.
03:12That is why we call it Palayamanin.
03:16Here, we would like to show you what we call aquafarming.
03:21We have six tubs.
03:23These six tubs have 3,000 fish populations
03:28of different sizes, tilapia.
03:31If you notice, these tubs,
03:35placed at this elevation,
03:37we make use of the slope
03:39for us to be able to get the water flow by gravity.
03:43Okay, one, two, three.
03:49See?
03:50These are its sizes.
03:53This is such a small space.
03:55Imagine, this is only 2 by 12.
03:58That's only 24 square meters.
04:01And yet, you have 3,000 fishes.
04:03And then, on top of that,
04:05we have 600 lettuce plants.
04:08This is like our septic tank.
04:11It has gravel and sand
04:13to filter the water.
04:15And that filtered water goes back to the field.
04:18Here, we plant lettuce,
04:20we plant arugula,
04:22petchay,
04:23watermelon,
04:25and tomatoes.
04:30We developed models
04:32where you can plant even if your soil is bad
04:34or you don't have soil.
04:36For example,
04:37one of the things we did here is called tower gardens.
04:40Imagine, this is only 2 or 3 square feet.
04:44But it has 30 to 35 plants.
04:48We put a pipe
04:50where we also put worms.
04:52Food waste from the chicken goes here.
04:55The manure, we put it here.
04:58Dried leaves, we put it here.
05:00It has worms here.
05:01The worms will process all of that food waste.
05:05And it fertilizes the soil of this tower garden.
05:09It only ate 5 square meters.
05:11That's how small the space is.
05:12And yet, you have 200 plants.
05:15If your soil is bad,
05:16if it's slow,
05:17you can use raised beds using iron.
05:20Using iron,
05:22put it with good soil in the middle,
05:24put waste materials,
05:26and then plant around it.
05:28It's already good.
05:30Another thing we set up here,
05:32this is where our aqua-farming was set up.
05:36All of its water residuals will pass through here.
05:40It will host another 300 plants.
05:43And then, it will go to the tub.
05:46That tub is our grow-out for Azolla
05:49and duckweed.
05:51That's what we feed to our fishes.
05:54After feeding there,
05:56they will fertilize the plants again.
05:59After fertilizing the plants,
06:01the residual water will go to the duckweed and Azolla grow-out.
06:06The Azolla that we harvest will go to Tilapia.
06:10That's why we cycle it around.
06:17So here, we developed another model
06:19of chicken layers.
06:20It's 5 by 5.
06:22The idea is to have 35 layers
06:27and 35 to 45 days chicken.
06:30If this is a full house,
06:32all the boxes have chicken,
06:34we can harvest two trays every day.
06:38Here at Coronatural Farms,
06:40one thing we offer to our visitors,
06:43to our tourists,
06:45is what we call farm-to-table and reef-to-table.
06:48What we harvest from the farm,
06:51from rice, vegetables, herbs,
06:55this is what we want our guests to experience.
06:58And because our farm is a ridge, river-to-reef,
07:02there are also products from the sea.
07:05That's why this is our food.
07:07This is what we call Sinigang na Langka.
07:11Have you ever heard of jackfruit?
07:14Soursoup?
07:15This is it, Sinigang na Langka.
07:17One of the specialties of Coronatural Farms.
07:20Aside from the farm tours that we did today,
07:24Coronatural Farms also offers
07:27farm tourism or farm tour activities.
07:30One of them is kayaking.
07:33We also offer biking,
07:35photo tours,
07:37even camping or glamping.
07:40Coronatural Farms is also a facility.
07:44This is a DOT-accredited farm camp stay
07:49for our visitors.
07:51You can stay overnight here.
07:53This is also included in the Airbnb listings.
07:56You can check the Airbnb listings
08:00if you want to stay.
08:02We call it farm stay.
08:03We also have products.
08:05We sell heirloom seeds,
08:07our produce,
08:09flower seeds, vegetable seeds,
08:12and fruit trees.
08:15We also sell indigenous fruit trees.
08:17We also have an arts and crafts shop here.
08:21We call it Aramintas.
08:22This is a place of our brother.
08:24It showcases indigenous arts and crafts.
08:28Since 2016,
08:30we have been interested in practicing
08:33what we call regenerative agriculture.
08:36They say that if you become organic,
08:39if you become regenerative agriculture,
08:40it will be more expensive.
08:41But we found out as we practiced it,
08:43it's actually cheaper
08:45because you don't have to depend on laboratories
08:48or even agri-suppliers
08:50because you make your own food.
08:52You're part of the whole cycle.
08:54You're part of the whole system.
08:56Thank you for watching and listening.
09:00I hope you learned a lot
09:03from our initiatives
09:05and what we do
09:06here at Coron Natural Farms
09:08in Coron.
