00:00 Hello, OG! Welcome to our small farmhouse here in Lipa.
00:03 This area is basically a mini park. It's planted with carabao grass for the kids and
00:17 visitors with kids where they can play around.
00:20 I'm currently putting up a tree house.
00:25 I have a Nipah hut there where you have actually a good view of Mount Malarayan.
00:30 This area is actually an orchard. I planted 17 to 20 varieties of fruit bearing trees.
00:38 The idea really was triggered by the pandemic. The kids are stuck in the house and we have this property
00:47 idling here in Lipa. My wife and I decided to
00:51 develop it for a place that we can visit every weekend, which we are doing now.
00:57 We have to put up a gravel road and then I have to
01:00 build a fence and then the landscaping
01:04 plus other things that we need to do to make sure that the farm is livable.
01:09 Speaking of livable, we need a house. We need in. But then again, time is not on our side.
01:14 We needed a house immediately. Initially, we actually wanted a
01:18 container van or container house until I think one of the nieces of my wife found this company that builds
01:25 customized houses made of bamboo.
01:28 Just before our house, I actually put up a cubo. The cubo is intended for
01:38 visitors. There are two bedrooms there. It's a cubo with everything. It has a living room,
01:45 it has a dining room, toilet and bathroom inside. Since we're in a farm setting,
01:50 we really wanted a traditional cubo that we find in our rural areas.
01:56 Near the cubo is a mini half court that I recently put up.
02:03 Well, after the basketball court, I decided to put up a brick oven. It's not yet finished.
02:09 And so I hope to be able to do some pizza baking.
02:15 This property is actually about a hectare.
02:19 The house has a floor area of about 125 square meters, about 80 square meters livable space.
02:26 The rest accounts for the deck.
02:27 Now, let me invite you in our residence here in my farm. It's a customized house by cubo.ph.
02:41 The house is made of engineered bamboo. We actually designed it.
02:45 The materials were delivered here in February. It took them probably a month to build.
02:49 It was like a Lego house, but it was a real house.
02:52 All right, let me invite you to go inside our beautiful small house in Lipa.
02:58 There's our house. Let's go and see the master's bedroom.
03:08 There you go. Small also, but definitely a livable area enough for me and my wife.
03:14 Let's tour the other parts of the house.
03:19 The other room of the house, it's where actually all the kids are stuffed together.
03:23 They're kind of resting right now after a long swim in the pool.
03:29 This is the common toilet and bathroom of the house.
03:33 Well, it's also used by the kids because they don't have any bathroom.
03:38 There's our dining. It's a small dining. We're five. I have three children.
03:44 So just enough for us to bond together while dining.
03:48 Well, this portion of the house is where you find the
03:53 console tables and then the cabinets.
03:55 Brought my old sound setup. It's basically a coffee bar,
04:00 coffee things, from mugs to the coffee maker and the bullets.
04:06 And then we have a small out altar over there.
04:11 The barn door, a request by my wife. It's basically made of bamboo also.
04:18 Leading to the kitchen. A complete kitchen, as you can see,
04:22 from the cabinets to the sink to the gas range, the ref, and all those stuff.
04:28 As you can see, the kitchen may be small, but it has a lot of storage facilities
04:34 that we can put almost all our stuff.
04:36 The house brings closeness to the family because we're all, you know,
04:43 just bumping arms and bumping shoulders with each other.
04:48 And it's a good feeling.
04:49 And then after the barn door is a frame photographed by Tom Epperson.
04:56 There's another painting here. It's an old painting that we bought
04:59 when we had our old house in Makati.
05:01 You've seen the inside of the house, so we better go out now and see the outside.
05:11 So here we are. This is the deck of the house where we actually
05:17 hold most of our dinings when we have guests.
05:20 Sometimes we also eat out, so we use this place as our dining place.
05:25 Well, just beside the deck is the pool. It's actually a late decision on my part.
05:30 The original idea is just really to have a garden in front of the deck.
05:36 When the garden was being put up, I realized that my kids,
05:40 especially my youngest, is a pool person.
05:43 It was really a very good decision because my youngest,
05:47 what gets him excited to come here in Lipa is just really the pool.
05:51 The whole house cost about over two million.
05:55 I had to spend for the foundation, which includes the septic tank
05:59 and other things that are connected with the construction of the foundation.
06:04 So the foundation will probably bring you to an additional about 900 to a million.
06:10 And then there's the shipping fee, assembly fee, plus the maintenance fee.
06:16 And then there's the shipping fee, assembly fee, plus my wife added some other requirements
06:23 like additional lights and there was a barn door.
06:25 So roughly a little over four million including everything.
06:30 One thing different here in Lipa compared to Manila is we wake up very early.
06:43 Even if we sleep almost the same time that we sleep in Makati,
06:47 for some reason we really wake up early in the morning, like 5 o'clock in the morning.
06:51 And it's good because it's already lighted and it's cool.
06:55 It's just the perfect time to have coffee.
06:58 During our first few weeks, I guess, here in our farm,
07:03 there was really some kind of trouble on us sleeping.
07:07 Sleeping in a way that in the sense that the sounds of the cricket,
07:12 the gecko, the frogs keeps us from, you know, sleeping early.
07:16 As I was telling my wife, it's one of those things.
07:21 We live in a nature setting.
07:24 But eventually we were able to adjust and
07:26 sleeping became natural already for us in this particular environment.
07:33 Yes, across the house is actually a vacant lot.
07:41 I am planning to put up perhaps a vineyard, grape vineyard in the future.
07:50 I just need to have the soil adjusted for grapes to grow.
07:56 So this corner of the house, I will see a good view of the mountain called Mount Malarayat.
08:05 It's the only mountain found in Lipa City.
08:09 And it's where the morning sun comes out.
08:15 That ends our tour here in our farmhouse.
08:17 I hope you enjoyed and got inspired.
08:19 Thank you for watching.
