Welcome to another episode of Unique Homes where we feature tiny houses, farmhouses, modern bahay kubo, and everything in between. Because we know — you can’t stop looking into other people’s homes for inspiration.
____
Alfonso, Cavite — Tiny houses these days are often perched on big lots. That's just the way it is. And who says a duplex can't be one building attaching two-story tiny houses?

The family calls it F.A.M.Ville. And rightfully so as the units are dedicated to the heads of the family. The property also takes pride in its spacious green outdoors which blends well with the home's dramatic black exterior. But don't let that familiar sleek exterior fool you. It's not made out of container vans.

Explore the property and give yourself some serious tiny house inspo.

00:00 Hello OG! I am Alvin and welcome to our little home here in Alfonso, Cavite.
00:05 And welcome to FAMBIL!
00:07 Why FAMBIL?
00:17 So FAMBIL started because that's the acronym of our family names.
00:23 We are all actually FAM and FAMBIL is actually short for family.
00:27 So there are a lot of greens here because during the pandemic, we started planting plants.
00:32 So we hardly have anything to do at home, we grow organic plants.
00:36 So you can see here, we have guac, we have pears, we have flowers,
00:42 and different kinds of plants, all of these are organic.
00:45 So we brought them here from our house in Paranaque.
00:48 Here in FAMBIL, it's actually divided into two houses.
00:54 So we have Tomwood for my dad, and we have Maywire for my mom.
00:59 On this side, we actually have a zen-type area.
01:03 We have an outdoor garden and chairs.
01:05 And then here you can have coffee, you can chill, especially during daytime
01:10 or even during nighttime because it also has solar lights.
01:13 Since we saw the outside of FAMBIL, we will now enter the two rooms of FAMBIL.
01:22 Let's start with the Tomwood.
01:24 Let's go inside.
01:25 Before we enter the Tomwood, here in FAMBIL, we actually have added amenities.
01:32 One of them is we have outdoor chairs that you can relax on.
01:36 Here you can actually enjoy the place, especially in the morning, it's a bit cold.
01:40 So you can sit on our chairs outside so you can at least enjoy the view of the farm area.
01:50 The design itself, we wanted a container but that's too expensive and also difficult in terms of logistics.
01:57 So we thought, "How can we pattern it?"
02:00 But also putting a twist that is sustainable.
02:05 Because the problem when it comes to this type of land is the land.
02:09 So when we saw the 20, it was made of wood and cement.
02:13 So we said, "Maybe this property can be heavy on cement."
02:19 And then steel, as much as possible, minimize the wood.
02:22 So at least it's sustainable and environmentally friendly.
02:27 Earlier, like I mentioned, we have two parts of the house.
02:35 So the first one, Tomwood, named after my dad.
02:38 Then there's white, named after my mom.
02:41 Now we're here in Tomwood.
02:42 So I'll explain to you the aesthetics of the house.
02:45 Here in Tomwood, you'll notice that most of the aesthetics are brown or maybe more on wood colors.
02:52 So we have a sofa bed here.
02:56 So this converts from a usual sofa to a bed, especially for an added bed.
03:02 Then we also put frames.
03:04 All of the color aesthetics are brown.
03:06 Even our dining table is brown.
03:09 Even the plates and utensils that we have here, as much as possible,
03:14 we also use brown color aesthetics.
03:16 Here, we also have a brown table.
03:20 So normally, it can fit four people, especially for the dining area.
03:24 And on this side, we have board games like Monopoly, Cluedo.
03:29 So we also have some slow ones.
03:31 And then also, we also have small appliances, especially for the kitchen.
03:35 We have a rice cooker, kettle, induction stove, and smart TV.
03:42 Since the area is small, our kitchen is actually outdoor.
03:45 So this is the outdoor kitchen for Tomwood.
03:50 So here, we can see that we have a sink.
03:52 And then of course, we have a hand washer.
03:54 We also have a dish soap.
03:56 Then we also have an access door to the room or living room of Tomwood.
04:04 So if you want to access the outdoor kitchen from inside, you'll just have to go through here.
04:08 Now, for a privacy, we also have a separate bathroom.
04:12 Here, you can notice that our stairs are very lean and sleek.
04:23 Because the aesthetics is that we want it to be airy.
04:26 Because the space is small, we really want to utilize the space properly.
04:30 This is the way to the second floor.
04:31 Let's go upstairs.
04:37 Tada! We're here in the bedroom.
04:40 So as you can see, we have here a queen-size bed that can fit two people.
04:45 And then we also have alcohol, especially since we're still in the pandemic.
04:51 So it's important that everyone should use alcohol.
04:53 We also have scented candles to set up the mood.
05:03 And maybe just to add, I wanted to showcase also these artworks of Aninel Rubio.
05:09 Actually, one of the known sustainable development artwork painter.
05:14 So during that time, he actually had an art for a cause.
05:17 I made all of his watercolor paintings.
05:20 We bought them since the objective is to help cancer patients.
05:24 Maybe my favorite part of the fan build would be the outside aesthetics.
05:33 Because our goal is to make it look like a container.
05:37 We achieved it.
05:38 To many instances, every time there are new people who see the place,
05:42 they always think that it's a container.
05:44 So we always say that this is just made of GI shit.
05:48 So when they see it, they would realize that it's just GI shit.
05:51 Since we're done with Tom Wood, we'll go to the other part of the fan build.
05:59 We'll go to Miwai.
06:01 Before we go inside, we also have an outdoor table and chairs that you can enjoy.
06:06 So you can have breakfast or coffee and tea here.
06:09 So you can at least relax especially in the morning.
06:12 Let's go inside Miwai.
06:14 We're here at Miwai.
06:17 So on the other side, Tom Wood is more on wood color.
06:21 Here, it's more on the aesthetics of white, gray, and black.
06:25 That's what we'll see.
06:26 So on this side, in the kitchenette, actually, it's similar to the other side.
06:29 We also have kitchen appliances like rice cooker, induction stove, and proper nalias.
06:38 And if daddy likes coffee, mommy may likes tea.
06:42 And then for those who love entertainment, we also have board games that you can enjoy.
06:47 We saw on this side, we have a sofa bed.
06:53 Actually, this is also in my mom's aesthetics.
06:56 So also color gray.
06:57 We also have a four-seater dining table.
07:00 Then also included, once you rent the space, we have a water dispenser.
07:04 And then of course, we have a fan or a free fire.
07:07 And other aesthetics, we also have now, of course, similar to the color.
07:11 We have excess artworks that we also included as part of the aesthetics.
07:16 And then of course, it's the same on the other side.
07:23 We also have the aesthetics of hanging stairs.
07:27 Let's go upstairs.
07:28 We are now here on the second floor of Maywhite.
07:34 So similar to Tomwood, we also have amenities that we can use.
07:38 So like we have books for those who are book lovers.
07:42 Then we also have art pieces that came from Anna Rubio.
07:46 And then we also have storage here, as well as we also have a reclining chair
07:51 that you can make a daybed for those who want to add additional sleep.
07:56 So here we have a side table.
07:59 Then we also have a mood light.
08:01 And then we also have alcohol for safety since we're still in the pandemic.
08:06 And on the other side, we have a queen-size bed.
08:08 Here we have a single bed.
08:11 So overall, this is what you will see on the second floor of Maywhite.
08:15 So let's go to the balcony.
08:16 Okay, we're here again on the balcony.
08:22 So here in the fan bill, we actually have two balconies.
08:24 So you can see how big and spacious our balcony is.
08:28 The lattice is about Php 500 to Php 517.
08:34 So we bought it for Php 2,800 per square meter.
08:38 And then the property itself, our expenses here overall is around Php 1M.
08:42 Including the furniture, including the amenities, even the backyard.
08:47 So our backyard.
08:48 So overall, maybe it's around Php 2.4 to 2.5M in total.
08:52 [Music]
08:56 Okay, we're here on the other side of the house.
08:59 So on the other side, we have a zen type in the area of Tomwood.
09:03 Here in Maywhite, we have a provincial life.
09:06 Of course, you can't live a provincial life if you don't have a cubo.
09:10 So let's go inside the cubo.
09:12 Normally, here in the cubo, we eat here.
09:19 Like breakfast, we also have a snack here.
09:22 Especially if you really want a cool climate, at the same time, a nice ambience.
09:27 [Music]
09:30 Another outdoor experience that you can enjoy here in the fan bill,
09:34 we actually have a fire pit here.
09:36 So for those who are into outdoor, you can have a bonfire here.
09:40 You can also have a s'mores.
09:42 You can grill if you want.
09:43 And to add more, better ambience, actually,
09:46 we're also putting stone chairs and tables.
09:50 Actually, you can also put outdoor chairs and tables.
09:53 And we also have string lights, especially at night,
09:56 to create more ambient place, especially for the outdoorsy people.
10:01 [Music]
10:03 I hope you learned a lot and you were inspired by our story.
10:06 So we hope to see you soon here in Fanbill.
10:09 Thank you everyone.
10:10 Bye-bye.
