What is sweeter than having to retire doing what you love in the place that you love?

Mary Yvonne “Ybonita” Mangrobang Caunan, together with her husband, built a retirement home in a farm in her hometown. A product of their hardwork from working most of their lives, the 2.3-hectare farm became a weekend destination for their family. Now it rents out 4 individually designed casitas, where Ybonita spends her time fixing, cleaning, and preparing for her guests.

Discover Ybonita Farm’s charm and get to know its owner as she welcomes you to her retirement haven.

00:00Ibonita Farm is located in Barangay Santa Ana, Calatagan, Batangas.
00:23I'm Ibonita.
00:24I was so happy when my children decided to call the farm Ibonita.
00:30When I was a little girl, my dad just called me my Bonita, meaning pretty girl.
00:37And then I was named Yvonne after that French actress.
00:40So parang sakto, Yvonne and then Bonita.
00:44So ginawa nilang Ibonita.
00:46Here in Ibonita, we have four villas.
00:49Let's start with our Coconino Villa.
00:52It's a villa good for two people.
00:54We call it the Honeymoon Villa.
00:56We called it the Coconino Villa because everything here is made from coconut.
01:02And Coconino is a variety of coconut trees, which is called the Coconino.
01:09Ibonita Farm and Villas is around 2.3 hectares, meaning 23,000 square meters.
01:16This is supposed to be our retirement paradise after so many years of working in the city.
01:23So we decided to buy this property from my lolo.
01:31We're inside the Coconino Villa.
01:33This is a high-ceiling villa with a queen-size bed.
01:36As you can see around the area, the accents are made from coconuts,
01:40including the coconut husk that's designed on the wall.
01:47Hi!
01:50This is the reason why it's a perfect villa for honeymooners because it's a two-axis bathroom.
01:56Ayan, masyadong maliwanag. Close natin yung curtains.
02:01For added privacy and sunshade.
02:04So in this villa, you can see we have the TV, the bar ref, a working table here,
02:12and our two-way radio system for all your wants and needs here in Ibonita Farm.
02:19We just wanted it to be a farm.
02:22Whenever the family will come over, my little house cannot accommodate all of us.
02:27So we decided to put two villas for my children and my children's friends.
02:33Eventually, almost every week, there were friends.
02:36And then my loyal daughter told them,
02:38Oh my God, you always bring friends. How's the expenses for the koryente?
02:44Our mom and pop only lives on the retirement.
02:47So Olivia decided to put this in Airbnb in 2017.
02:52And that's the beginning of Ibonita Farm and Villas.
03:02So this is our second villa, the Pugo Villa.
03:05It's an Ifugao-inspired villa.
03:07On the first floor, you'll see the outdoor lanai and the bathroom.
03:16Tara, check natin yung second floor.
03:27I cannot even imagine that I can stay in a farm.
03:31Especially nung wala naman masyadong koryente.
03:34Pero when you reach my age, there will be a time you really want to go back from where you came from.
03:47So for our next villa, we have our Spanish-inspired villa called the Caceres Villa.
03:53So in this villa, we have a TV, a water dispenser, a bar fridge, and a two-way radio.
04:04It's good for two to four people. Best for small family with little kids.
04:13When we started our family, we were just employees.
04:21And then we tried to give our children the best education we can afford to.
04:26So talagang nagsumikap kami kasi wala naman kaming perang masyado kasi empleyado lang.
04:36But through perseverance and hard work and dedication, ito na yung Ibonita, the product of the difficult times we had.
04:45This is our mahogany road.
04:47This is our mahogany road. This is the main access road for all our villas.
04:52Speaking of villas, let's go check out our villa for our big groups and big families.
04:59This is our Ivatan Villa. It's a botanist-inspired villa for big families.
05:03You can see that there's a lot of trees now.
05:06We meant to make it a hidden villa now because my dad keeps planting trees every time he's here.
05:13So tara, tingnan natin siya.
05:16When we were into Airbnb, syempre marami na nag-book.
05:20Some are asking for a bigger room.
05:23So when we went to Botanist, we were inspired by the Botanist House.
05:28So there's Ivatan.
05:41This is the Ivatan Villa.
05:43Upon entering, you'll see a living area here where you can ding Kapeng Barako and our signature tableya.
05:49You'll also have a ref inside our cabinet and a larger TV for your entertainment purposes.
05:58So since it's a two-floor villa, the first floor consists of two queen beds fit for big families, especially if you have seniors in your group.
06:10Here we have two sinks.
06:13This Kapis door is made locally that leads to one of the bathrooms.
06:22There's actually two bathrooms.
06:26That's the first floor. Tara, akit naman tayo sa second floor.
06:29Tara!
06:35This is the second floor.
06:37To your left is a changing divider from a hand-me-down from our grandparents.
06:43You can see also that we have three queen-size beds and two single beds fit for a big family.
06:55This is our princess balcony.
06:57This is the best spot in the farm to view the sunset.
07:07When you book this villa, you will have your own lanai area.
07:15I feel so blessed kasi nandito ako sa gusto kong lugar in my hometown.
07:41Eh, may pera yun, diba?
07:43So happy si Ebolita.
07:44For rates, we have the Coconino for Php 5,500 a night.
07:50The Ipugo Villa is Php 7,000 a night.
07:54The Caceres Villa, Php 6,000 a night.
08:01The Ivatan Villa is good for 6 to 12 people.
08:04We actually have two rates.
08:05You have an overnight rate.
08:07It's Php 18,700 a night with breakfast for 12 people.
08:11For a 3-day, 2-night stay, it's only Php 15,000 a night.
08:16For those who want to visit Ebolita, you may get in touch
08:20or you may contact us through our FB page, Ebolita Farm and Villas.
08:30Thank you for watching, and I hope you enjoyed touring our farm.
