00:00Hi OG! I'm R.C. King Macapagal.
00:02Come with me to my house.
00:06I'll teach you how to plant hydroponics.
00:15This is my setup. It doesn't have a greenhouse.
00:17As you can see, it doesn't collapse.
00:19This is my place. It doesn't have many insects.
00:23The good thing about this is that you save space.
00:26This is what we call vertical farming.
00:28This is the NFT system of hydroponics.
00:32I put boxes underneath so that the space is not wasted.
00:37This is called the Kratky method.
00:39This is stagnant water.
00:41This NFT system has a pump and a timer
00:45where it opens to distribute water and where it dies.
00:52During the pandemic, I worked as a bus conductor.
00:56I was a 5-star bus conductor for 10 years.
00:59When I had free time,
01:02I used to work as a Grab driver and a masseur.
01:06During the pandemic, the government stopped Grab
01:08and I stopped being a bus conductor.
01:12How did I survive?
01:13I was constantly spending money but I couldn't save it.
01:17I watched YouTube and researched how it works.
01:21That's when I got up through hydroponics.
01:24I told the Lord that He gave me a house.
01:27I thought, how will I survive?
01:29Through hydroponics, my source of income came here.
01:34This is where I make my living now.
01:36Join me as we discuss and study the Kratky method of hydroponics.
01:42We have 11 steps to do.
01:45First, sterilizing cocopeat.
01:48Second, sowing, incubation, seeding management,
01:52transplanting, mixture solution, harvesting, and ROI.
01:57We can start now.
01:59First, we'll boil the cocopeat.
02:03Sterilizing cocopeat.
02:05We'll add water.
02:07We'll boil it for 20 to 30 minutes
02:10to remove the microorganisms that might be in the cocopeat.
02:14Once the cocopeat is boiled, we'll let it cool.
02:19Now, we'll start sowing.
02:22We'll put the cocopeat in a seeding tray.
02:25We'll spread it in every hole.
02:28We'll use a barbecue stick to make small holes.
02:32We'll put the lettuce seeds here.
02:35So it won't sink.
02:37After putting the cocopeat and seeds,
02:40we'll spray it with the right amount of moisture.
02:44There.
02:46The next method is what we call incubation.
02:50We'll get a box with no holes.
02:55We'll just put it inside.
02:58The best time to sow is in the morning,
03:01around 6 to 7 a.m.
03:03Depending on the time you closed it,
03:05you'll open it the next day after 24 hours.
03:08For example, we'll open it now.
03:12Here, it has sprouted after 24 hours.
03:16We'll spray it again.
03:17Then, we can let it sun-dry.
03:19After that, this is what it'll look like after 14 days.
03:24We'll start transplanting.
03:27From the seeding tray, we'll transfer it to a styrofoam cup.
03:33We'll use a sterilized cocopeat.
03:36In the Kratky method, we'll only put half of the cocopeat.
03:40Then, we'll make a hole.
03:43You can also use a barbecue stick to get the lettuce.
03:47You just have to take it slowly,
03:50so that the roots can be formed,
03:52to prevent it from rotting.
03:58After we transfer the lettuce from the seeding tray,
04:03after 14 days,
04:04we'll transfer it to the grow box.
04:07This is where they'll grow until they're harvested.
04:10Here, we have 45 ml of nutrient solution A,
04:15and then nutrient solution B.
04:17This is what gives them life,
04:20through nutrients.
04:25When I started in my capital,
04:27they only gave me the styrofoam box,
04:29which is like an uvas in the market.
04:32My capital is just the solution, the seeds, and the cocopeat.
04:35More or less, it's around P500.
04:37I didn't have a greenhouse, so I started here.
04:39On this side, I only have one floor.
04:42Then, I put the styrofoam here.
04:44I started small.
04:46Then, I gradually increased it,
04:48when I saw a lot of potential,
04:50to become a source of income.
04:53In just P500,
04:55I was able to grow it until P1,000 or P1,500.
05:00So, I made a lot of money.
05:02Then, I started selling materials.
05:08I became a consultant
05:10when I sold a starter kit,
05:12a hydroponics kit.
05:14They taught me what I was selling.
05:17That's when my knowledge of hydroponics grew.
05:20That's when my journey started.
05:22It grew until here,
05:24where I get what I pay for at home.
05:29I built this greenhouse
05:31so that those who visit and those I teach
05:34can get an idea of what a greenhouse is.
05:37Hydroponics is not just lettuce that we can plant.
05:39We can plant calamansi,
05:41eggplant,
05:43chili,
05:45tomatoes,
05:47onion leeks,
05:48strawberry,
05:49water spinach,
05:50and many more.
05:51This lettuce,
05:53before it grew this big,
05:55it was this beautiful.
05:56For the customers who buy it,
05:59you have to wait 25 to 30 days
06:02before you transfer it to our channels.
06:07So, there.
06:08It's beautiful and big.
06:10It's worth your P25.
06:14In hydroponics,
06:16in this setup,
06:17I earn at least P3,000 a month
06:19in this small setup.
06:21In materials, it depends on sales.
06:23It depends if I sell a lot.
06:25Sometimes, I earn P5,000 or P10,000.
06:29In consulting,
06:31they are the ones who reach me.
06:33I don't have a range
06:35that they can pay me.
06:37I don't have that yet.
06:39They are the ones who reach me enough.
06:42I will explain to you
06:44what is the content of my greenhouse.
06:46This system that we call
06:49NFT,
06:50Nutrient Film Technique.
06:52It's a full NFT system.
06:54This is the system
06:55where there is no water left inside.
06:57It's just straight.
06:59The system of the pipe is slanted.
07:02So, we have a reservoir.
07:05That's where we put the water.
07:06That's where we mix the nutrient solution.
07:09Then, these hoses
07:11distribute the water.
07:14Then, it just goes back there.
07:16So, there is no wasted water.
07:18It's just straight.
07:25In hydroponics,
07:26we can't just plant lettuce.
07:29We can plant calamansi,
07:31eggplant,
07:32chili,
07:33tomatoes,
07:34onions,
07:35strawberries,
07:36water spinach.
07:37I planted those
07:39so that here at home,
07:41I won't have to buy anymore.
07:43The vegetables that you can buy,
07:45you can buy fish or meat.
07:47This system of hydroponics,
07:49we call it Dutch Bucket.
07:51These are the big trees that are planted.
07:54So, it's just the same process.
07:56We use fruit bearing.
07:58So, what we use here,
08:00it's the same as lettuce.
08:02The medium here is cocopeat.
08:05So, the cocopeat that we call it,
08:07it's made from coconut husk.
08:09And it's ground to become pine.
08:12Look, it's pine.
08:14So, this one,
08:15it doesn't have enough nutrients
08:18so that one plant can grow and bear fruit.
08:21This water,
08:22this is what they drink.
08:24It has a nutrient solution
08:27that they put
08:28so that they grow and bear fruit.
08:31That's the beauty of this system.
08:34It's a small space,
08:35but I was able to plant a lot.
08:41It's a big thing that we learn
08:43this kind of planting.
08:45It's just on the side,
08:46but I was able to plant and harvest.
08:49I earn enough
08:50to provide for my family's needs.
08:53So, it's a blessing from God.
08:55During the pandemic,
08:56I went through a lot.
08:58Before I could reach what I have now,
09:01I thank those who trusted me.
09:04To those who tried,
09:06you can visit and call me
09:10so that you can also learn
09:12the simple method
09:13using hydroponics.
09:15You don't have to spend a lot of time
09:19to make this kind of living.
