00:00 Hello, OG! I'm Patrick and this is my wife Janelle.
00:03 We're here in Antipolo and welcome to our parents' retirement home.
00:06 Let's go!
00:07 Okay, so this is our exterior.
00:18 We used the windows for the outside and then we added stones.
00:23 Then we used rough walls.
00:24 So we used stucco walls.
00:26 For the interior here, we used Spanish tiles.
00:29 So before we go inside, let's tour around.
00:32 So this is our area which we call "Lanay".
00:35 So we have two sets of tables and chairs.
00:38 So for our design inspiration for the outdoor, this is modern Mediterranean.
00:42 So if you can see, it's a bit Mediterranean with our windows.
00:45 But we used modern roofing.
00:47 But at least it's easier to maintain.
00:49 So we have trellis and then we have polycarp here.
00:52 We built this as a retirement home for our parents.
00:57 So they've been living in a building for more than 10 years.
01:01 And then as they're growing older, they're having difficulty going up and down the stairs.
01:07 So eventually, we came up with an idea that we have them a new house
01:12 and then they're going to stay on the ground floor.
01:15 We tried looking for houses.
01:17 We pitched it to them and then we got into a short list of like three houses.
01:22 Then we went to all the houses.
01:25 And then inspect all of them.
01:27 Floor area is 135, lot area is 270 square meter.
01:34 We asked help from our designer.
01:37 And then from there, we tried to make like a swatch board.
01:42 And then from there, we came up with the perspectives.
01:52 Okay, now we're here inside.
01:56 So this is our foyer.
01:57 All of the lights are here.
02:00 The lights switch outside the house.
02:03 And this is our shoe cabinet.
02:04 We have a narrow wood here.
02:06 So we sit here, take off our shoes and then put it here.
02:10 And then get our house slippers here.
02:12 So you can see this painting here.
02:15 This is one of the first paintings that you'll see here in this house.
02:18 And this is made by our brother.
02:19 His name is Brian Crison.
02:21 All of the painting here in the house is made by him.
02:24 So yeah, this is our foyer.
02:26 Okay, so moving on to the other side of the foyer.
02:29 So we have our lounge area.
02:31 These are Solia chairs.
02:33 And then before, there was no windows here.
02:36 So we had to turn it up.
02:37 We turned it upside down.
02:39 And then we added French windows for more light coming inside.
02:41 So this is our mobile bar.
02:44 So we bring this anywhere where there's a drink.
02:47 So we have wine and then spirits downstairs.
02:50 And then we have our square wall with our TV.
02:53 And then this is my brother's painting.
02:55 Yeah, it's on Italian tiles on the wall.
02:58 We have our access door here.
03:00 So if you want alfresco dining, we go straight to the kitchen.
03:03 But if you want to eat inside,
03:05 so this is our eight-seater dining table with circular lights.
03:09 So before we go to the kitchen, this is our partition.
03:15 So if you can see, there are structural things here.
03:18 So we added cladding.
03:19 So the other things here are real.
03:21 And then at least there's air and light coming in.
03:24 And then we added a partition here in the kitchen.
03:27 So at least my mom wants something to separate the area and the hallway.
03:32 So we put it here.
03:33 And then this is our storage.
03:36 So we have food here that won't go in our refrigerator.
03:40 So babe, yeah.
03:42 Oh, hi!
03:42 Now we're here in the kitchen.
03:44 So as you can see, everybody opted for an open kitchen.
03:48 [MUSIC PLAYING]
03:52 OK, so we have a three-cooktop induction cooker here, our range hood here.
03:58 And then as a back splash, we have subway tiles here.
04:03 And then, of course, our sink is over here.
04:05 We also have all the basic appliances that we need in a kitchen,
04:09 like the microwave and refrigerator.
04:12 And also we have a water filter.
04:14 So we don't need to have our water delivery inside our house.
04:18 So anytime we have access to mineral water.
04:20 [MUSIC PLAYING]
04:22 What happened was we secretly talked-- me and my kuya and then my sister--
04:29 we talked about getting the house.
04:31 I think it took us like around two weeks to figure out how to make this work.
04:35 And then we tried to pitch this to our parents.
04:39 At first, they were very hesitant because the old structure was not how it's--
04:47 it looks like right now.
04:49 So it will take a lot of work.
04:51 Since Antipolo is very near to what they're used to,
04:54 I think that what makes them like the location.
04:58 And yeah, here we are.
05:01 After so many options, we decided to stick in Antipolo.
05:05 [MUSIC PLAYING]
05:09 And before we go up, this is our powder room.
05:12 You can see we have a solohiya cabinet, our water closet,
05:17 and machuca wall tiles.
05:19 So these are stairs.
05:22 We use black railings, but at least more contrast.
05:25 And then we have an accent.
05:26 Originally, before, the window was small here.
05:30 So we made it bigger for more light coming in.
05:33 And then we have our circular chandelier, so at least the area is soft.
05:38 [MUSIC PLAYING]
05:44 So welcome to our second floor.
05:47 This is our family room.
05:48 So we can't add our living room downstairs, so we put it here.
05:53 So we have our sofa here, then our tabletop, and then we have our TV here.
05:58 Then we have a ceiling fan because it's cold here.
06:01 [MUSIC PLAYING]
06:04 For the second floor, most of our partitions here are reused.
06:07 So whatever we can reach here, we just want to lessen the cost.
06:12 What we did was reused.
06:13 We just restored it.
06:14 So now, that's still what's inside.
06:16 So we have three bedrooms here, then one CR.
06:18 Let's go inside.
06:19 So this is our typical design vibe of the bedrooms.
06:24 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
06:30 So we have our two-inch size bed.
06:32 We have two windows.
06:33 So this is closed because we have our neighbor there.
06:35 We have our nightlight.
06:37 We have our aircon.
06:38 And then we reused the closet now because it fits the vibe.
06:42 So what we did is we repainted it.
06:44 And now, it's fine.
06:45 [MUSIC PLAYING]
06:48 So we finished the construction in four months.
06:52 We started from September 2022.
06:56 And then we moved in by--
06:57 before Christmas, I think we moved in December 20, 2022.
07:04 Construction side, since we're the contractor here,
07:06 it has a lot of challenges.
07:08 First of all, it's an old house.
07:10 So there are a lot of limitations.
07:14 The walls are precast.
07:16 So there are--
07:17 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
07:18 It's just--
07:19 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
07:20 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
07:21 Yes.
07:21 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
07:22 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
07:24 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
07:26 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
07:28 [MUSIC PLAYING]
07:35 Oh, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
07:37 Hello.
07:37 So we are at our veranda.
07:39 So this is a second floor outdoor area.
07:43 When we got here, it wasn't done properly.
07:45 It was just a parking lot downstairs.
07:47 So this area has never been fixed.
07:50 So what we did is we added Spanish tiles,
07:53 and then we added our outdoor tables and chairs.
07:56 Then we have a big umbrella.
07:59 So at least when it's a little hot in the morning,
08:01 you can still have coffee here.
08:03 So we just replaced the railings on the outside
08:05 so that it's still the same color as our windows.
08:08 Then we usually use this early in the morning
08:11 when the wind is a little cold.
08:13 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
08:14 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
08:14 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
08:15 [MUSIC PLAYING]
08:22 What makes this house a home, or can we say true home?
08:26 Next words I will say, I think, would be a cliche
08:30 because we all know that a house is not a home
08:33 without its family member.
08:35 And for me, for us, it's still true
08:40 that a house without its family members
08:43 or anyone living in it is not a true home
08:46 because how can you enjoy all the areas
08:49 and the furnitures and the amenities
08:52 and the appliances if no one's around?
08:55 I think message to our parents is, one,
08:59 enjoy the property.
09:01 It's a good surprise for you.
09:03 And then hopefully, enjoy it.
09:05 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
09:05 [MUSIC PLAYING]
09:18 So that concludes our house tour.
09:20 Thank you very much.
09:20 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
09:21 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
09:22 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
09:23 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
09:24 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
09:24 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
09:25 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
09:26 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
09:27 And then again, thank you and bye-bye.
