00:11Among them was Venetian David Disaro, who joined thousands at the cultural village on
00:16the Kadazandusun Cultural Association grounds during the height of the two-day harvest festival.
00:21The communities of Kadazandusun, Murut and Rungus celebrate Kamatan throughout May, with
00:27festivities starting on Thursday.
00:29The cultural village showcases various houses from Sabah's multi-ethnic communities, each
00:34with its dances, food, customs and traditions.
00:38Disaro, who works in the animation industry, chose to visit Sabah during Kamatan, citing
00:43Sabah's rich tradition and culture as the main reason for his trip.
00:48Fresh from a trip to Nepal and India, Disaro said his experience in Sabah was completely
00:53different and highlighted the friendliness of the people.
00:58Meanwhile, Adriana Dam from the Netherlands was thrilled to visit the cultural village
01:03during the daytime, having visited it at night the week before.
01:07The 22-year-old joined dancers from the Murut ethnic group at the Rumah Keningau.
01:12Dam, who is interning with the Marine Research Foundation in Sabah for three months, said
01:18she is immersing herself in Sabah's vibrant and colorful celebrations.
01:23She suggested that the organizers provide visitors with a guide explaining the different
01:28types of houses before their visit.
