00:00 As we've seen, as polls open in Mexico for Sunday's general elections, citizens go to the polls to elect the next president of the republic, lawmakers, and other local authorities.
00:09 Over 100 million Mexicans are registered to vote for 20,708 public offices.
00:19 This will be the first time that federal elections are held with the participation of 32 states.
00:28 The Mexican people will also vote for the head of state for the 2024-2030 term, as well as 128 senators and 500 federal deputies.
00:41 On this day, local elections will also be held to choose 19,738 positions, comprising 9 governorships, 1,098 assembly members, 1,802 municipal presidencies, 431 auxiliary positions, 1,975 union seats, and 14,423 local council members.
01:07 Regarding overseas voting, the National Electoral Institute reported that more than 12 million Mexicans are eligible to cast their vote from May 20, either online, by mail, or in person at different polling stations set up at Mexican embassies.
