00:00 Moving on to the Derry and Strabane District Council City Deal and Derry Riverfront Project.
00:04 The £45 million Riverfront Project will provide a reimagined public space at Queen's Quay,
00:09 Guildhall Square, Foyle Street and Harbour Square roundabout. To facilitate this,
00:13 a reshaping of the public road space is proposed with a potential one-way
00:17 gerritory system put in place along the riverfront and Strand Road.
00:20 The proposal includes the provision of tree-lined avenues, new pedestrian cycle routes,
00:25 public transport improvements including pedestrian squares and meeting points.
00:30 The program OBC has now drafted. The Council have advised to be ready for issue to DFI
00:35 economists for review. The Council are anticipating a financial deal later in the year. This will
00:41 secure the necessary funding for us to appoint a framework consultant to further develop the
00:45 project and move that through into design. The next step is to develop an MOU between
00:49 the Council and DFI and agree an integrated delivery plan or integrated delivery team
00:54 to undertake the detailed design plan, applications, environmental reports etc.
00:59 The Strabane footbridge, Derry and Strabane City deal includes a project for Strabane
01:05 Town Centre regeneration. The aim is to revitalise Strabane Town Centre focusing
01:10 on the historic canal basin with a new healthcare hub, campus for the North West Regional College
01:15 and a leisure centre. An integrated part of this is improved connectivity between public transport,
01:20 residential areas and town centre facilities through a new town centre footway and cycle bridge
01:26 and associated active travel linkages. The outline business case for the footbridge is in the final
01:31 stages of preparation and the estimated cost is about 10.4 million for the scheme. Similar to
01:36 lagging and pedestrian cycle bridge the 4.4 million pound shortfall of funding is to be
01:41 covered by the active travel budget through the AF decision made in December 23.
