00:00 The residents of Castellana and La Carlota City in Negros Occidental who fled last night after the volcano Kanaon erupted are still in the evacuation center.
00:12 The residents are reminded to wear face masks as a protection against ash fall.
00:18 The provincial disaster management program division sent help.
00:23 And we have live news, Aileen Pedreza of GMA Regional TV 1, Western Visayas. Aileen?
00:30 Egan, the volcano Kanaon is still at alert level 2 due to its continuous activity based on monitoring by PHIVOX.
00:45 The volcano Kanaon erupted in Negros Island last night. It released a thick smoke that reached up to 5,000 meters.
00:53 Because of this, PHIVOX raised the volcano Kanaon to alert level 2.
00:57 This means that the volcano is prohibited from entering the 4-kilometer radius permanent danger zone.
01:03 The Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Management Program Division from the LGUs of Castellana and La Carlota City has received a request for additional help due to the effect of the eruption of volcano Kanaon.
01:16 According to Irene Beltlotenia, only a few of the LGUs are asking for additional personnel to be deployed for disaster response, food and clothing.
01:27 We are coordinating logistics and food and non-food clusters. As to the preparations, we coordinated it with the GSO and PSWDO.
01:42 The resources, ma'am, are already there. They are already there. Actually, we will be deploying one team, one LGU.
01:53 In La Carlota City, some residents have evacuated and are currently staying at Jimlang, Lungson.
01:59 They are from Barangay Ubo and Barangay Araal, which are located near the foot of volcano Kanaon.
02:05 In the town of La Castellana, some residents have also been brought to evacuation centers.
02:10 Pre-emptive evacuation is still ongoing in other barangays near volcano Kanaon.
02:15 Kanaon Volcano Observatory is calling on residents not to panic and if possible, avoid leaving the house and wearing face masks due to ash fall.
02:25 We are just saying that let's stay alert and whatever information we receive, let's think if the information we receive is accurate.
02:50 Igan, for now, the response team of the Provincial Disaster Risk and Management Office has arrived in the town of La Castellana to help with the preparation of the LGU.
03:01 The entire province of Negros Occidental is now in a blue alert status due to the eruption of the volcano. Igan?
03:08 Aileen, until now, what is the situation of volcano Kanaon? Is it still smoking?
03:18 Igan, as you can see behind us, there is still a little smoke coming out of volcano Kanaon.
03:24 But the monitoring of PHIVOX is still ongoing in other volcanic activities. Back to you Igan.
